Abstract

This research was inspired by the fact that the affective domain has not become a priority scale and is a serious concern of the three domains (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) in the teaching and learning process in schools. The purpose of this research was to describe the biography, work, and character education of Ki Hajar Dewantara and Abdullah Nasih Ulwan This research was library research. The data was collected by finding some relevant sources. The collected data was analyzed by comparing the sources concerning the three issues. In conculusion, both figures had different biography, work, and character education. But they also had same way of thinking concerningcharacter education.

Abstract

Our research aims to find out the problems experienced by students and lecturers in the implementation of online learning, during the Covid-19 pandemic and efforts to overcome styles in universities. Qualitative descriptive approaches and exploratory case studies were used to collect data from students and lecturers at the State Islamic University of Walisongo Indonesia. This study shows that the implementation of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has led to changes in the learning system that have led to a new lecture paradigm that can be highlighted in four sub-scales including the level of saturation, seriousness and participation in learning, learning motivation, and the level of intellectual satisfaction. Meanwhile, the efforts made by lecturers in overcoming this problem are by maximizing the use of learning technology tools, modifying certain learning methods such as project based learning, integrated curriculum, and blended learning. This study contributes to research on pedagogy and online learning by clarifying the role of lecturers in finding problem solving problems faced by students.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the implementation of REACH strategies in training students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) on critical thinking aspects. This research was a qualitative study. research type of research was descriptive research by using a qualitative approach. The research informants were student of the Mathematics Department of Mathematics and Science Faculty of Pamulang University.  Techniques used in data collection were observation, interview and documentation. The results of data analysis showed that REACT strategies can be used to improve HOTS skills in students’ critical thinking. Moreover it encouraged students to be active in participating in lectures. Students gave a very good response regarding the use of REACT strategies. This strategy must be used continuously for better learning outcomes, especially the Higher Order Thinking Skill, it can be exemplary achieved not only in critical thinking but also in the creative thinking.

Abstract

This study aims at designing and developing multimedia-based English listening material for the first year students of an Islamic Senior High School. The study was a Research and Development (R&D) using ADDIE model. The respondents were 77 students and 4 English teachers of the first-year students of MAN 1 Kerinci. The data of this research were obtained through observation checklist, interviews, questionnaires, validation sheet, and checklist of the product practicality. The findings of product validation and try-out show that the product were interesting and easy to use with minor revisions. Further, it facilitates the students to have self-learning listening. The final product of the study is an executable file (* exe) attached on the CD. The result of the product validation, as well as the try-out, indicates that the material developed is categorized as "valid". The practicality of the material based on teachers and students’ responses indicates that the material developed is "practical" to (Nunan, 1999) use in the classroom.

Abstract

A large class can be a problem source in learning Calculus. Peer-Assisted Reflection learning,as the solution, is a learning that combines peer analysis and self-reflection. The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of Peer-Assisted Reflection learning based on Students’ opinions in Multivariable Calculus lecture. The research design used was pre-experimental with a one-shot case study design. The data obtained from questionnaire responses were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The result of this study shows that thePeer-Assisted Reflection learning help Students’s carry out activities: reflecting the result of their own work, commenting on the friend’s work, and increasing understanding of the material after revising their work. On contrary, the Peer-Assisted Reflection learning has not been able to carry out the following activities: determining concepts, understanding problems in a short time, understanding the work of colleagues, and finding doubts about the correctness of the answers.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the construction and content of the curriculum of Postgraduate, especially on Master Program in Islamic Religious Education at two Islamic Higher Education – private and public. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method by focusing on curriculum construction and then analyzingit using content analysis.The results of this research show that the curriculum construction of the Master Program in Islamic Religious Education at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim and UNISMA Malang is based on the grouping of subjects according to the demands of the Indonesian National Qualification Framework at the 8 level. The curriculum content is mainly dominant in strengthening Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). Second, Postgraduate does not provide alternative curriculum so there is no flexibility.  Curriculum of the master program in Islamic Religious Education must be able to strengthen the content knowledge of Islamic education.

Abstract

This case study aimed to reveal how high school teachers in a municipality of Central Java as participants promoted dimension of literacy in text-based teaching in EFL classrooms because they were responsible to equip students with literacy skills in order to be smart and have critical thinking. The data were collected by recording, structured open-ended interviews, and classroom observations. Teachers whose students’ English proficiency belonged to fair tent to promote linguistic dimensions of literacy. They spent most of the teaching session by discussing elements of language such as structure or vocabulary and aims of text as an effort to promote socio cultural dimension. Teachers whose students had a good English proficiency promoted linguistic, socio cultural, cognitive and developmental dimension of literacy. The practical pedagogical implication is that teachers’ awareness of integrated particular teaching methods in the classroom is needed to promote students’ proficiency of literacy dimensions and equip students with 21st literacy skills.

Abstract

Communication skills need to be improved during learning. However, the learning process in schools has not fully implemented learning models that can improve students' communication skills. Learning in schools is still teacher-centered, lack of use of Information Technology (IT), students’ inactivity, and their lack of interest in learning in class. The solution is to apply the PBL learning model in IT interventions. The research objective was to develop students' communication skills. The instrument used is was a rubric to assess communication that had been validated by experts. The research design was Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design. This type of research is a quasi-experimental. The data were analyzed by using  the two-way ANOVA test. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the PBL learning model and the information technology intervention on the communication skills of students with an average score of 64.27% in the experimental class and 57.70% in the control class and a significant value of 0.00

Abstract

This article explores the anatomical characteristics of the Islamic Education Curriculum based on personal and community development in General Higher Education in Indonesia. This research is a qualitative study, words or actions of people observed and interviewed are the main data sources. The primary data sources of this study were elements of faculty leaders, heads of study programs, students, and lecturers of Islamic Religious Education. This study illustrates how the anatomical characteristics of Islamic Higher Education of General Islamic Education curriculum support strengthening personal and community development.  The research findings show that the learning achievements of graduates, the content and teaching materials, the learning process or learning experience, and the assessment model illustrated in the curriculum structure, strongly support the development of responsibilities as individuals of Allah's servants and as Khalifah fi al-ardh. The aspect of personal development is the aspect of tathwir al-nafsi in the form of individual monotheism which includes the teaching of Islamic belief, strengthening of mahdhah and others. The aspect of tathwir al-ijetimaiy, illustrated in the strengthening of student social monotheism in the form of al-amr bi al-makruf wa al-nahy an al-mungkar, the human concept as caliph, democracy, science, technology, art, harmony, civil society, welfare, religious people, Islamic culture, Islamic political system, and democracy. The learning process is still dominated by increasing the understanding of the propositions, concepts, and theories with the teaching model of information processing. The internalization process through practice with social and humanistic teaching models still needs to be improved.

Abstract

This paper seeks to examine the concept of “Merdeka Belajar” or “Freedom of Learning” which was initiated by the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim. The study of freedom of learning uses text study with content analysis method. The concept of “Freedom of Learning” is very interesting when studied with a multicultural education perspective. Moreover, the two concepts have the same relevance and spirit, namely freedom and justice in the human resources development context, particularly through the educational process. Based on the results, the implementation of “MerdekaBelajar” program so far includes four aspects, namely financing, teachers / educators, assessment, and graduates. In a multicultural perspective, problems in management and assessment aspects basically caused by a misunderstanding of the meaning of standards and standardization. Meanwhile, the teacher and graduate aspects lie in the importance of developing multicultural competencies.Integrating a multicultural education perspective in the “Freedom of Learning” policy also transforms an education system that is creative, innovative, and character.
