Abstract

Islamic inheritance law, or fiqh al-maw?r?th, is a branch of Islamic jurisprudence that regulates the transfer of the estate of a deceased person to eligible heirs. Inheritance distribution involves not only determining who qualifies as an heir but also determining each heirs share and the method used to calculate it. One important method in resolving inheritance cases is the use of a?l al-mas?'il, which refers to the basic denominator used to standardize the fractional shares of heirs so that the distribution can be calculated systematically. This article aims to explain the concept of fiqh al-maw?r?th, the position of a?l al-mas?'il, its calculation method, and the stages involved in settling an estate before it is distributed to the heirs. This study employs a library research method with normative-juridical and conceptual approaches. The sources of this study include the Qur'an, the Compilation of Islamic Law, legislation, and literature on Islamic jurisprudence and Islamic inheritance law. The findings indicate that inheritance distribution should be carried out after all obligations related to the estate have been settled. The shares of the heirs are then determined based on fur?? al-muqaddarah and 'a?abah. The use of a?l al-mas?'il facilitates the calculation process, including cases involving 'awl and radd. Valuing inherited assets in monetary terms is also necessary when the estate consists of land, houses, gold, shares, or other assets to ensure that each heir receives a proportionate share.

Abstract

Contemporary corporate crisis communication requires organizations to address both stakeholders’ need for accurate information and their expectations for empathy, recognition, and relational sensitivity. This conceptual paper aims to develop an integrated framework positioning empathic communication alongside organizational clarification in corporate crisis communication. The study employs a narrative literature review to synthesize scholarship on crisis communication, empathic communication, stakeholder trust, and organization–public relationships. The literature was thematically analyzed to identify organizational clarification as an informational function and empathic communication as a relational function. The synthesis resulted in the Beyond Clarification Framework, which conceptualizes effective crisis communication as the integration of these two complementary functions. Organizational clarification provides factual certainty through timely, accurate, and transparent information, while empathic communication recognizes stakeholder experiences and demonstrates organizational concern. An illustrative application to Green SM Indonesia’s crisis statements following the Bekasi railway crossing accident demonstrates how factual clarification can be complemented by explicit expressions of empathy and recognition of affected stakeholders. The framework contributes to crisis communication scholarship by repositioning empathy from a supporting rhetorical element to a core relational communication function. The study concludes that effective corporate crisis communication should move beyond factual clarification toward an integrated approach addressing both informational and relational stakeholder expectations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of budget efficiency and the increase in performance targets on the implementation of DGCE Marine Patrol, examine how DGCE organizational management determines measures and strategies in responding to the budget efficiency policy and increased performance targets, and analyze management's adaptive strategies for maintaining the continuity of Marine Patrol operations and achieving performance targets, thereby ensuring that Marine Patrol operations can continue. The research employed a qualitative method combined with descriptive quantitative analysis using a Concurrent Triangulation Design, in which qualitative and descriptive quantitative approaches were conducted simultaneously. These findings demonstrate that DGCE's adaptive strategies have been able to maintain the operational continuity of Marine Patrol following the 2025 budget efficiency policy and the increase in performance targets. However, such continuity has not yet been fully formalized or institutionalized through statutory regulations or specific rules governing Marine Patrol. Therefore, from the perspective of Sustainable Public Management, DGCE management can be considered to have developed adaptive capacity; however, this capacity still needs to be strengthened and transformed into a formal, integrated, and sustainable continuity management system. This confirms the necessity for DGCE to develop a Marine Patrol continuity management system and strengthen the capacity of its human resources and management to make comprehensive decisions under conditions of resource constraints and uncertainty.

Abstract

This article examines the practice of Boras Si Pir Ni Tondi in Toba Batak culture as a mechanism for recovering from collective trauma following disasters, using a kinship-centered sociotheological approach grounded in the structure of Dalihan Na Tolu. Drawing on the response of the Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) Church to the victims of the flash floods in December 2025, this study argues that the effectiveness of the ritual lies not merely in the symbolism of rice, but in the kinship relationships that activate it. Within the framework of Dalihan Na Tolu, hula-hula (blessers) function as channels of spiritual and social restoration, dongan tubu (clan members) provide collective solidarity, and boru (recipients) affirm the restoration of their identity as integral members of a whole community. Through qualitative literature review and participant observation, the study finds that the ritual operates on two levels: sociologically, it restores kinship networks disrupted by disaster; theologically, it conveys blessing and hope to survivors. This study recommends strengthening the role of local kinship structures in community-based disaster response protocols.

Abstract

This study examines changes in the economic conditions of the community in Kenagarian Kinali, West Pasaman, following the development of oil palm plantations. Before 2003, the community primarily depended on traditional agriculture, including rice, corn, rubber, and cocoa, with relatively low incomes. Since 2003, oil palm cultivation has gradually replaced these activities because of its greater economic potential. Using the historical method—heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography—this study collected data through literature, documentation, and interviews with farmers, plantation workers, traders, farmer groups, and nagari officials. The findings indicate that from 2003 to 2020, oil palm plantations expanded significantly, increasing production and the number of farmers. This development improved household incomes, employment opportunities, education, asset ownership, lifestyles, and local economic activities. However, communities also experienced challenges, including dependence on fluctuating fresh fruit bunch prices, rising production costs, and unstable incomes. Overall, oil palm development significantly transformed the socioeconomic structure of the Kinali community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of transformational leadership, work environment, and work motivation on employee performance at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Bangko Branch, both partially and simultaneously. This study employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The population consisted of 25 employees, all of whom were selected as respondents using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that transformational leadership had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, with a path coefficient of 0.352, a t-statistic of 2.781, and a p-value of 0.006. The work environment also had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, with a path coefficient of 0.286, a t-statistic of 2.214, and a p-value of 0.027. Furthermore, work motivation had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, with a path coefficient of 0.391, a t-statistic of 3.126, and a p-value of 0.002. The R-square value of 0.714 indicates that transformational leadership, work environment, and work motivation jointly explain 71.4% of the variance in employee performance. Work motivation had the strongest relative contribution to employee performance. These findings highlight the importance of integrating leadership, work environment, and motivational factors in strategies to improve employee performance.

Abstract

This study discusses the policies of Nahdlatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Maros Regency regarding the scheduling of study time and the implementation of congregational Zuhur prayer from the perspective of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. This research is a field study with a qualitative approach. Primary data was obtained through interviews with campus leaders, school principals, supervisors, and teachers, as well as documents like the activity schedules of students at Nahdlatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Maros Regency. Secondary data comes from fiqh literature on the theory of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis with a maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah approach, allowing conclusions to be drawn. The research results show that the study schedule at Nahdlatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Maros Regency is carried out systematically, with learning sessions running from 07:30 to 13:10 WITA, while the congregational Zuhur prayer is held from 13:10 to 13:30 WITA after all learning activities are completed. The policy of postponing the Zuhur prayer is implemented to avoid negative effects such as disruptions to the learning process, weak student supervision, and less effective delivery of learning materials. From the perspective of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, this policy is an effort to protect ḥifẓ al-‘aql by creating effective and organized learning, while still maintaining ḥifẓ al-dīn. In line with that, from the perspective of fiqh al-awlawiyyāt, this policy is seen as a form of prioritization because the Zuhur prayer falls within a broad time range, while the learning process has a more limited time and is bound by the academic schedule.

Abstract

Class imbalance remains a persistent challenge in intrusion detection because infrequent attacks may carry substantial security impact while being poorly represented during model training. This study evaluates a moderate augmentation strategy for UNSW-NB15 by selectively limiting synthetic data growth instead of forcing every class to match the majority class. Four extremely underrepresented classes—Analysis, Backdoor, Shellcode, and Worms—were augmented using the target T_k = min(10,000, 15 x n_k). Network records were first mapped into a latent representation using a Stacked Denoising Autoencoder (SDAE), followed by five generative scenarios: Hybrid SDAE-GAN, SDAE Feature Extraction, SDAE Dimensionality Reduction, SDAE-WGAN-GP, and SDAE-CTGAN. No-augmentation and SMOTE baselines were included for comparison. S5-CTGAN achieved the highest macro F1-score of 0.4135, a 5.9% improvement over the no-augmentation baseline (0.3906), with an MCC of 0.5897. The most visible class-level gains were obtained for Analysis (F1 from 0.018 to 0.105) and DoS (0.206 to 0.375). S2-Feature Extraction produced the closest synthetic distribution with a mean Wasserstein Distance of 0.0172. A one-way ANOVA confirmed highly significant differences among experimental setups (p = 4.37 x 10^-41; eta-squared = 0.957), supported by Friedman and Tukey HSD tests. The results indicate that generating more synthetic samples is not inherently beneficial: aggressive full balancing can cause over-amplification, whereas controlled latent-space augmentation provides more stable gains while preserving the role of genuine observations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine, from a historical-critical perspective, the role of parents as educators of children based on Psalm 127:1–5. The study is motivated by the importance of the family as the primary institution for shaping children’s faith, character, and social life, as well as the various challenges faced by parents in the context of modern society. The method employed is a historical-critical approach through etymological analysis, examination of the social and cultural context of the Ancient Near East, textual criticism, redaction criticism, form criticism, Sitz im Leben, and verse-by-verse interpretation of Psalm 127:1–5. The findings indicate that Psalm 127 is a wisdom psalm that emphasizes human dependence on YHWH in all aspects of life, including work, security, and family. Children are described as “a heritage from the LORD” and “a reward” from Him, indicating that the existence of children is not merely the result of human effort but rather a divine gift and trust. The image of children as “arrows in the hand of a warrior” emphasizes their value as the next generation, who play an important role in preserving the continuity, honor, and well-being of the family. In this context, parents serve not only as providers of life and caregivers for their children’s needs but also as educators responsible for shaping their children’s character, faith, and readiness to face life. This study further demonstrates that the message of Psalm 127 remains relevant to Christian families today.
