Abstract

This article examines M. Umer Chapra’s conception of the future of Islamic economics by integrating moral values, institutional governance, and policy reform. The study aims to synthesize Chapra’s historical-institutional diagnosis and future policy agenda and to formulate a coherent model of economic transformation. It employs qualitative library research with Chapra’s The Future of Economics: An Islamic Perspective as the primary source and recent journal literature as secondary material. A document-review matrix was used to classify evidence into historical diagnosis, values, institutions, fiscal and monetary policy, the real sector, redistribution, and Islamic finance; the data were analyzed through descriptive-analytical thematic comparison and source triangulation. The findings show that economic decline is systemic: erosion of public ethics weakens accountability, institutions, and policy quality. Reform therefore requires three interdependent layers—values as a compass, institutions as a lever, and policy as an instrument. Islamic finance is positioned as a means, rather than the final objective, and must be evaluated by its contribution to stability, productivity, distributional justice, and public welfare. The model is relevant but context-dependent on state capacity, rule of law, and institutional credibility.

Abstract

Teacher teaching performance is a key factor in determining the quality of learning and the graduates of vocational schools. This study aims to analyze the effect of work motivation and work discipline on teacher teaching performance at SMK Swasta Nurul Amaliyah. The research method applied a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consisted of all 50 teachers, designated as respondents using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale, tested for validity (r-count 0.279) and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha 0.600). Data analysis included descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t and F tests, and the coefficient of determination using SPSS. The findings indicate that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on teacher teaching performance (t-count = 4.695 t-table = 2.012; Sig. = 0.000; regression coefficient = 0.385). Work discipline also has a positive and significant effect (t-count = 5.923 t-table = 2.012; Sig. = 0.000; regression coefficient = 0.462). Simultaneously, work motivation and discipline significantly affect teacher teaching performance with the regression equation Y = 6.420 + 0.385X1 + 0.462X2, supported by F-count = 107.250 F-table = 3.20 (Sig. = 0.000). The Adjusted R² value = 0.812 shows that 81.2% of the variation in teaching performance is explained by both variables, while 18.8% is influenced by other factors such as principal leadership and organizational culture. The implications highlight the importance of enforcing discipline and providing continuous motivation to optimize teacher teaching performance in schools.

Abstract

The increasingly complex competitive environment in the modern era requires Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to reorient their internal managerial foundations, particularly organizational culture and work motivation, as strategic factors that influence human resource performance amid intensifying competition. This study aims to examine the effects of organizational culture and work motivation on employee performance among fashion MSMEs in Makassar City. A quantitative research approach was employed using a structured survey involving 206 participants selected through non-probability sampling based on the criteria of being active employees of fashion MSMEs relevant to the study. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS version 4.0. The results indicate that both organizational culture and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. A well-established organizational culture within the work environment contributes to fostering consistent productive behavior among employees. Meanwhile, work motivation serves as an intrinsic driving force that supports the improvement of employee performance in fashion MSMEs in Makassar City. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening organizational culture and maintaining employee motivation as integral components of human resource management to enhance employee performance in the fashion MSME sector.

Abstract

Modernity is often understood as a hegemonic force that linearly erodes, disrupts, and ultimately eliminates the existence of local traditions. Drawing upon Anthony Giddens’ metaphor of the *juggernaut of modernity*, this article challenges such a simplistic thesis by providing an in-depth analysis of how Indonesian society negotiates tradition amid the currents of radical modernity. Employing a library research approach grounded in qualitative-conceptual methods, the article examines the dialectical dynamics between disembedding mechanisms, social reflexivity, and the reconstruction of cultural identity. The analysis reveals that in Indonesia, traditions neither disappear nor merely survive passively in marginal forms. Rather, they undergo processes of re-embedding, active reinterpretation, and revitalization through the very instruments of modernity itself. This phenomenon is critically explored through three loci: the pluralization of religious authority in the digital era, the philosophical reconstruction of the Minangkabau matrilineal tradition within the context of globalization, and the rationalization of Javanese agricultural rituals (*Wiwitan* and *Slametan*) amid agrarian modernization. The article offers a theoretical contribution through the concept of “taming the juggernaut,” a reflexive socio-cultural strategy whereby Indonesian communities position themselves as active agents capable of directing and domesticating the disruptive forces of modernity in order to preserve the continuity of their spiritual and cultural identities. This form of hybrid coexistence reinforces the thesis of global desecularization while simultaneously proposing an alternative model of modernity that challenges the secular universalism of the West.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology has encouraged village governments to adopt digital systems in public services. This study aims to analyze the effect of Digital Cash Management System usage and administrative services on community satisfaction at Sukasari Village Office, Pegajahan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. A quantitative approach was applied with a population of 4,512 and a sample of 98 respondents determined using Slovin’s formula with a 10% margin of error. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The regression equation obtained is: Community Satisfaction = 17.982 + 0.321X1 + 0.136X2. The t-test shows that Digital Cash Management System usage significantly affects community satisfaction (t = 2.847; Sig. = 0.005), while administrative services do not have a significant effect (t = 1.367; Sig. = 0.175). The F-test result (F = 5.909; Sig. = 0.004) indicates that both variables simultaneously have a significant effect. The R Square value of 0.111 means that the two variables explain only 11.1% of the variation in community satisfaction, while 88.9% is influenced by other factors outside the model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of poverty alleviation policies in Bandar Lampung City in 2023 using George C. Edward III’s policy implementation theory, which emphasizes four main variables: communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through field observation, in-depth interviews with relevant officials, and documentation of policy and program implementation. The findings indicate that the policy implementation has not been optimal. A key obstacle is the limited availability of competent human resources and insufficient budget allocation. Moreover, communication among implementing agencies is often ineffective and inconsistent, leading to miscoordination in program execution. The disposition or commitment of policy implementers also varies, with some showing a lack of initiative and active involvement. The bureaucratic structure is rigid and hierarchical, delaying coordination and decision-making processes. Given that poverty is a multidimensional issue, it requires rapid and collaborative responses. This study concludes that the success of policy implementation depends heavily on integrated and effective communication, adequate resource availability, strong implementer commitment, and a flexible bureaucratic structure. The study recommends strengthening human resource capacity, streamlining bureaucratic procedures, enhancing community participation, and reinforcing monitoring and evaluation systems. These improvements are essential to ensure that poverty alleviation programs are executed effectively, efficiently, and targeted to those who need them most. By addressing these critical factors, local governments can significantly reduce poverty levels and promote sustainable community welfare

Abstract

Human resource competence is an important aspect in supporting organizational performance, particularly in work environments that require technical and operational capabilities. This study aims to analyze the relationship between employee competence and performance and to identify the extent to which competence contributes to explaining variations in employee performance. This study employed a quantitative approach involving 67 respondents selected from a population of 200 employees. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression, a t-test, and the coefficient of determination. The results showed a competence regression coefficient of 0.730, with a t-value of 11.433 and a significance level of 0.001. The R² value of 0.668 indicates that competence explains 66.8% of the variation in employee performance in the research model. These findings demonstrate a positive and significant relationship between employee competence and performance. The results indicate the importance of developing knowledge, skills, and work attitudes as part of a human resource strategy to improve employee performance.
