Abstract

Patchouli is a source of essential oil which is a major commodity in Indonesia, especially in the Aceh region which can be a driver of the local economy. Community service in Lhoong Sub-District, Aceh Besar aims to improve patchouli cultivation through sustainable agricultural practices. Community service was conducted at the Patchouli Industry Center, Lhoong Sub-District, Aceh Besar Regency on August 13, 2024. The tools and materials used include a sprayer, conductor, bucket, eco-enzyme made from fruit peels with a ratio of sugar, fruit or vegetables, and water of 1: 4: 10, POC, and compost made from patchouli waste and surrounding agriculture, 2% baking soda in 1 L of water. Compost, POC, and eco-enzymes function as organic fertilizers while baking soda solution is a natural fungicide to control fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew. The study results showed that although the agroecological conditions in Lhoong Sub-District are suitable for patchouli cultivation, increasing soil fertility is needed to sustain patchouli productivity. Integration of organic inputs and natural disease control methods shows results that can increase the yield and quality of patchouli. However, community motivation in cultivating patchouli plants still needs to be improved, one of which is by providing education and motivation through training programs on effective cultivation techniques with internal inputs to activate the development of the agricultural sector that attracts the interest of local people, especially the younger generation. The approach used to increase the potential for organic farming practices that can increase land productivity and the local economy, ensures the sustainability of patchouli with high yields. Patchouli has a high price in the regional and global markets which can be an opportunity to improve the welfare of the Umong Seribee Village community.

Abstract

The use of family medicinal plants (Tanaman Obat Keluarga/TOGA) has long been an integral part of local wisdom, passed down through generations in various regions, including among the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) women's group in Cot Bada Village. While the group has extensive experience in cultivating medicinal plants, the downstream processing of these resources into value-added products remains suboptimal. This community service program aims to enhance the skills of the PKK women's group in Cot Bada Village, Aceh Besar, in processing lemongrass and ginger into a herbal tea product called Teh Haleu. Through training based on appropriate technology, participants were introduced to the tea production process, including selecting high-quality ingredients, drying using a Food dehydrator Tray, and packaging the product attractively to meet market standards. Additionally, financial management and marketing training was provided to support the sustainability of the business. The program's outcomes revealed that the PKK women successfully produced Teh Haleu ready for sale with high-quality standards, receiving positive feedback from the market. As a follow-up, plans include mass production and obtaining BPOM and halal certifications to enhance the product's competitiveness and economic potential. This program delivers economic benefits and empowers the community to optimize local resources effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

The productivity of ruminant livestock is closely correlated with the continuous availability of forage, both in quality and quantity, making its availability crucial. On the other hand, the use of drone technology to support efforts in agriculture and forestry is also very important to be socialized to the community. Therefore, training is the right solution to achieve this, enabling the dissemination of knowledge about the utilization of indigofera as livestock feed and the use of drones. The aim of this service is to train students on indigofera cultivation techniques and how to use drones in the fields of agriculture and forestry. The service is conducted at Senior High School 1 Jabiren Raya, Jabiren Raya Sub-District, Pulang Pisau District, Central Kalimantan Province, using a training method, with 40 students participating. It will be held on February 18, 2025, with several stages of preparation and implementation. Activities were conducted at two locations, the first in the Auditorium with a theoretical presentation, and the second on the grounds of SMAN 1 Jabiren Raya, which served as a practical site for cultivation and drone operation. The results of the community service activities indicate that the training on indigofera cultivation techniques and the introduction of drone usage in agriculture and forestry showed a significant difference in knowledge before and after the training. In conclusion, the comparison of understanding before and after the training was 27% compared to 90%.

Abstract

Good and polite language skills for elementary school students are now starting to decline. They feel proud and dominant in using rude, dirty, and even hurtful language to their friends. If left unchecked, these bad morals will actually cause social conflict and become legal problems in the future. Of course, such problems will have a negative impact on the golden generation because they are starting to lose their humanistic national cultural identity. Not only that, the performance of teachers in teaching language and literature to students is also less creative so that it makes students feel bored to learn about Indonesian literature. In fact, literature is able to make their human resources superior and have character. Therefore, the role of strong teachers is needed in teaching and educating students related to learning Indonesian literature. One of the efforts is that teachers need to teach students using fun literary learning media. Therefore, the purpose of this community service is to provide an introduction and description to elementary school teachers about what unique language and literature learning media are. With this community service, teachers are given an understanding of the concept, type, benefits, and use of learning media. Then, another goal of this community service is that teachers are taught how to create unique and innovative literary learning media through AI computerized design. Thus, teachers can implement the learning media in SDN 193 Caringin. Of course, with the hope that it will arise in students' love for the language, literature, and culture of the archipelago.

Abstract

The Zero Water Discharge (ZWD) technology is highly effective for efficient water usage, reducing or even eliminating wastewater discharge typically associated with shrimp farming. Used water from shrimp ponds can be treated and recycled, preventing any liquid waste from being released into the environment. By utilizing energy generated from solar panels (SP), this shrimp farming practice becomes more environmentally friendly and sustainable. Renewable natural resources, specifically sunlight, are harnessed to operate the system without increasing the carbon footprint. The objective of this initiative is to transfer the appropriate ZWD technology based on SP in shrimp farming to the community of Gampong Alue Naga, particularly Dayah Bustan Assofa. The implementation method began with the initial observation by the team of volunteers of the shrimp farming practices in the dayah, which often faced various challenges, such as foul-smelling pond water due to poor water quality. Additionally, high electricity costs also hindered shrimp farming in the dayah. To address these issues, ZWD technology based on SP was applied. The results of the initiative indicate that the implementation of SP-based ZWD technology in vaname shrimp farming in Banda Aceh proceeded as planned, without encountering any significant obstacles in the field. The partners were very supportive and enthusiastic, requesting that their area be designated as a mentoring village by FKP USK. Future recommendations include enhancing capacity in marketing, particularly digital marketing, which is beneficial for expanding the market reach of farmers, enabling them to sell their products to a wider consumer base at better prices.

Abstract

The development of the Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe area in Blang Mangat District, Lhokseumawe City, is expected to impact the surrounding transportation system and road infrastructure. This community service activity aims to assess the performance of several main road segments that may be affected to support smooth accessibility and traffic safety in the area. The study was conducted through field surveys with direct observation, including an inventory of road geometric conditions and manual traffic volume counts on four major road segments. The collected data were then analyzed using road capacity, degree of saturation (DS), and level of service (LoS). Results showed three road segments operated at Level of Service C (DS between 0.51 0.62), indicating stable traffic flow but approaching maximum capacity. The remaining segment was at Level of Service A (DS between 0.11 0.19), representing very smooth traffic conditions. The highest traffic volumes were recorded on the Sp. CundaBuket Rata and Buket RataCity Boundary segments, particularly during peak hours, with load capacities ranging from 1,327 pcu/hour to 3,844 pcu/hour. To anticipate the potential increase in traffic load due to future educational activities in the area, traffic management strategies were proposed, including transport scheduling, officer deployment, and control of roadside disturbances. This study highlights the importance of early planning and intervention to maintain safety, efficiency, and comfort for road users in the area.
