Abstract

Health management is the process of maintaining the health of family members who are ill. Ineffective health management can occur when individuals or families experience health disturbances due to unhealthy lifestyles or diseases such as acute respiratory infections (ARIs) caused by environmental pollution from cigarette smoke or vehicle emissions. The role of mothers and families is very important in ineffective health management. This study aims to describe the management of ineffective health management with health education in families of school-age children who experience ARI. This type of research is a descriptive case study with a nursing approach. The results of the study obtained at the assessment found Mrs. A's child had a cough with phlegm and the family did not understand prevention and care. Nursing interventions in the form of health education about ARI disease include understanding, causes, signs and symptoms, risk factors, prevention and treatment of ARI. Health education is carried out gradually so that families can accept the information conveyed. Evaluation found that ineffective health management problems can be resolved. Suggestions for families to improve clean and healthy living behaviors, especially for children.

Abstract

Pregnancy is the result of a fertilization between the egg and the spermatozoa (conception) which will be followed by physiological and psychological changes. During pregnancy, there are several problems, one of them is nausea that is often experienced in pregnant women which is also one of the symptoms in early pregnancy. The symptoms of nausea and vomiting by pregnant women are called hyperemesis gravidarum (HEG). Nutrition is very important during pregnant, nutritional disorders are included in the period that determines the quality of growth and development of the fetus to be born where during pregnancy determines the state of the fetus in the mother's womb. Provide an overview of nausea and vomiting management in primigravida with hyperemesis gravidarum. This is descriptive research with case study using nursing care approach include assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention and evaluation. After 3 days of management, the problem of nausea and vomiting management in primigravida with hyperemesis gravidarum was partially solved. The next intervention is educational to eat little but often and in a warm state. It is hoped that primigravida pregnant women who experience hyperemesis gravidarum can manage nutrients by eating little but often, serving food in a warm state, staying away from things that stimulate feelings of nausea and vomiting.

Abstract

Coughing accompanied by secretions is a common complaint experienced by tuberculosis patients. The accumulation of thick and difficult-to-expel secretions results in ineffective airway clearance. Effective coughing with the correct technique is expected to address that issue. The purpose of the research is to provide an overview of the application of effective coughing techniques to address airway clearance issues in tuberculosis patients to expel sputum. The research method is a descriptive case study using nursing process management over 3 days. The research results show that during the assessment, patients reported having a productive cough that has been difficult to expel for 3 months, RR: 26 breaths per minute, SPO2: 96%. The nursing diagnosis established was ineffective airway clearance, with implementation involving effective coughing. Upon evaluation, the patient reported that the coughing had decreased compared to the previous day, felt more refreshed, and did not appear lethargic. The respiratory rate was 20 breaths per minute, and the oxygen saturation was 98%. The outcome of the management is that the problem has been resolved. There is a need for health promotion about the benefits of effective coughing for tuberculosis patients.

Abstract

Self-confidence is an important aspect of adolescent development. Adolescents with positive self-esteem tend to adapt more easily to their surroundings and have good academic performance. Self-confidence can be influenced by cultural factors, education, personal experiences, and family environment. Parents with a positive parenting style make children feel safe, valued, and capable of developing social skills. Positive parenting also helps adolescents cope with stress, anxiety, and other emotional problems. Positive parenting has a significant impact on children's growth and helps shape their morality. The research aims to assess the relationship between parenting styles and adolescent self-confidence using a questionnaire that can be completed by interested parents and adolescents. The research design is descriptive quantitative correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The number of respondents was 81 people, selected using purposive sampling technique. The chi-square statistical test findings of 0.001 with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) indicate a substantial correlation between adolescent self-confidence levels and parenting styles, demonstrating a strong impact of parenting on self-confidence development. Teenage self-confidence falls into the "fair" category, along with parenting styles. Parenting patterns require special attention for adolescents.

Abstract

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a condition that involves structural changes or scarring in the airways, leading to persistent inflammation that can hinder oxygen delivery through alveolar damage and respiratory physiological changes. These damages and changes result in symptoms such as shortness of breath, increased respiratory rate, limited lung movement, and excessive sputum production, as well as hindering the ciliary clearance process, causing sputum accumulation, and preventing effective airway clearance. The study aims to determine the oxygen levels and respiratory rate in COPD patients. The research approach is descriptive quantitative with a sample of 87 COPD patients treated at RS Awal Bros Bagan Batu. The research was conducted from November to December 2024, taking into account the results of blood gas analysis and calculating the respiratory rate using laboratory methods. The analysis used is univariate analysis. The survey results indicate that the majority of respondents (90-95%) experienced mild hypoxia, with 64 (73.6%) out of a total of 87 respondents (100%) experiencing mild hypoxia. The respiratory rate (RR) results show that 87 out of 87 subjects (100%) experienced tachypnea with a respiratory rate >20 times/minute.

Abstract

The stimulation of ACTH release due to stress triggers the adrenal glands to release cortisol hormone, which causes an increase in blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels and blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients at RS Bhakti Asih Brebes. This quantitative research uses a descriptive correlational method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample collected consisted of 62 diabetes mellitus patients using purposive sampling technique. The stress level was measured using the valid and reliable Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire, while the patients' blood glucose was measured using a calibrated glucometer. The analysis conducted used the Spearman rank test to determine the relationship between stress levels and blood sugar levels. The results found that 28 patients (45.2%) had moderate stress levels and 34 patients (72%) had poor blood sugar levels. There is a significant relationship between stress levels and blood sugar levels with a value of 0.0001 and a correlation strength of 0.740. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant correlation between stress levels and blood glucose levels in diabetes mellitus patients at RS Bhakti Asih Brebes. The lighter the level of stress experienced by the patients, the better the blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients.

Abstract

The elderly undergo a degenerative process that affects various bodily organ functions, including the cardiovascular system. One common disorder that occurs in this system is hypertension. Hypertension is a cardiovascular disease that cannot be completely cured, but it can still be controlled through proper management. Uncontrolled hypertension can lead to more serious health problems. The research aims to determine the application of warm foot soaks on blood pressure in elderly hypertensive individuals. The type of research is a case study with 4 research subjects, namely elderly patients suffering from hypertension. This research was conducted at one of the public health centers in Semarang City. The warm foot soak was performed for 15 minutes. Blood pressure measurements were taken twice, before and after the intervention. Warm foot soak therapy has been proven effective in lowering blood pressure in elderly hypertensive individuals, with an average reduction of  9 mmHg in systolic and 4 mmHg in diastolic pressure. It is hoped that classical music therapy will begin to be integrated as part of non-pharmacological interventions in the management of hypertension, particularly in the elderly.

Abstract

Postoperative pain is a significant health concern affecting approximately 35–65% of surgical patients. When left unmanaged, this type of pain can lead to complications such as bleeding, infection, respiratory distress, and a decline in overall quality of life. This study aimed to explore the application of guided imagery techniques using Virtual Reality (VR) as a non-pharmacological intervention to reduce pain intensity in postoperative patients. The research employed an experimental approach involving a single patient experiencing acute pain after surgery. The intervention was carried out on February 1, 2025, and lasted for 10 minutes. Findings indicated a significant reduction in pain intensity following the implementation of guided imagery through VR. Post-intervention evaluations showed that the patient met the outcome indicators outlined in the Indonesian Nursing Outcome Standards (SLKI), including decreased pain complaints, reduced grimacing, diminished protective behavior, decreased restlessness, less self-focus, as well as lower respiratory rate, pulse rate, and blood pressure. Based on these findings, it is recommended that nurses consider incorporating guided imagery using virtual reality as a complementary intervention in pain management to improve comfort and quality of life in postoperative care.
