Abstract

The shift in communication patterns to digital public spaces, such as platform X, often triggers a disregard for language ethics, especially in crisis situations such as natural disasters. This phenomenon underscores the importance of examining how politeness is maintained or violated when people express their aspirations on social media. This study aims to identify and describe the forms of violations of the maxims of politeness committed by netizens regarding government policies in the context of disasters. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a listening and note-taking technique, referring to the theoretical framework of the ten maxims of politeness from Leech’s theory. The results of the study indicate a significant level of violation, with a dominance of the maxim of generosity using swear words, taboo words, and insults as a form of social protest and emotional expression. These verbal actions not only threaten the government's authority (face) but also indicate a degradation of language ethics in Indonesia's digital ecosystem. Theoretically, this study is useful for enriching pragmatic studies in digital linguistics. Practically, these findings provide a basis for evaluating how the public can convey public aspirations more effectively and constructively without harming the value of politeness in cyberspace.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze Sie Hian Ling's Hikajat Njonja Kam Giok Nio (1925) through Judith Butler's theory of gender performivity in order to uncover the mechanism of gender regulation in the colonial context of the Dutch East Indies. The narrative tells the social destruction of Njonja Kam Giok Nio, the wife of a Chinese Luitenant in Tjibingin, who loses her status, family, and dignity due to her involvement with Stamboel comedy actor Siek Ting San. The analysis shows that text functions as a discursive regulatory apparatus that constructs gender as a performance that must be repeated through signs of modesty, chastity, and marital status, rather than innate identity. With the concepts of iteration, desire-performattity, radical transgression, abjection, and normative re-iteration, this article reveals how colonial moralistic narratives maintain heteronormativity through the threat of systematic social destruction. Njonja Kam Jade Nio, who originally succeeded in the performance of honorable femininity, experienced gender un-doing when entering public spaces without supervision, became an active desire agent, and was in contact with lower-class subjects. The consequence is total abjection in the form of physical expulsion, renaming, economic exclusion, and intervention by the colonial apparatus. The results of the study confirm that gender analysis cannot be separated from colonialism and class as a system of power that produces each other in the historical context of the Dutch East Indies in the 1920s.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reflection table in the book Wonderful Insight English class VII published by Erlangga in 2023 based on the perspective of Wilhelm Wundt's structuralism psychology. The reflection table contains five main statements, namely Now I know about, I wonder about, It is confirmed that, My misconception so far was that, and I have learnt about, which are designed to help students evaluate their learning experiences. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a document analysis approach, and utilizes the concept of introspection and elements of consciousness in Wundt's theory of structuralism. The results of the analysis showed that each statement of reflection represented a different stage of consciousness. Now I know about marking the emergence of new knowledge, I wonder about reflecting curiosity and further thinking process, It is confirmed that it shows the strengthening of the understanding that has been had, My misconception so far was that it reveals awareness of misconceptions, while I have learnt about affirming the final result of learning. These findings confirm that the reflection table in the book has facilitated the process of student introspection, while strengthening learning awareness in line with the principles of structuralism psychology Wilhelm Wundt. Thus, reflection is an important instrument in building students' cognitive awareness in 21st century learning.

Abstract

Digital transformation has fundamentally changed how fashion brands communicate with consumers. This study analyzes the digital communication strategies of three global fashion brands—Zara, H&M, and Uniqlo—across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. Using systematic digital observation and descriptive quantitative content analysis, the study monitored the brands’ official social media activities for 14 days, from 6 to 19 December 2025. The analysis covered platform usage frequency, content types, and public response indicators, including views, likes, comments, and shares. The results show that Instagram was the most frequently used platform, accounting for 60% of posts, followed by Facebook at 21%, TikTok at 13.9%, and YouTube at 4.7%. Although TikTok had fewer posts and a smaller follower base, it generated the highest relative level of public engagement. Product-oriented content and tips or tutorials were equally dominant at 38.8% each, while event-related and general or interactive content each represented 11.2%. Each brand also demonstrated a distinct communication orientation: Uniqlo emphasized functional and educational narratives, H&M balanced product promotion with community interaction, and Zara focused on trend-responsive visual product presentation. The findings confirm the importance of aligning platform characteristics, content typology, and brand positioning to maximize brand engagement in the digital fashion industry.

Abstract

The mandate of khilafah establishes a foundational moral responsibility for human beings in developing science and technology (IPTEK). This study aims to analyze the concept of the khilafah mandate as an ethical foundation for technological advancement, methods to align technology with environmental and human values, and its utilization for human empowerment. Using a qualitative approach with a literature review (secondary data analysis), this research examines various academic journals, reference books, and Islamic classical texts. The findings indicate that human responsibility as Allah's vicegerent (khalifah) demands that intellectual capacity and scientific development be guided by theological values rather than personal desires (hawa nafsu). Aligning technological progress with nature requires an understanding of Qur'anic signs regarding cosmological balance.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of criminal law against gambling practices in traditional horse racing involving minors in East Sumba Regency. The research employed an empirical legal method with a qualitative approach to analyze the application of criminal law and the factors influencing its enforcement. Primary data were collected through interviews with law enforcement officers, race organizers, gamblers, and children involved in horse racing activities, while secondary data were obtained from legislation, legal literature, and relevant documents. The findings indicate that criminal law enforcement has been carried out through both repressive and preventive measures, including law enforcement operations, legal awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation efforts involving the Correctional Center (BAPAS). However, its effectiveness remains limited due to strong cultural acceptance of gambling, inadequate law enforcement personnel, extensive supervision areas, low public legal awareness, and permissive social environments. The study further reveals that the involvement of customary leaders and local communities is essential to balancing cultural preservation with legal compliance and child protection. Therefore, strengthening inter-institutional collaboration, preventive legal education, and community participation is necessary to improve the effectiveness of criminal law enforcement while safeguarding children's rights in traditional horse racing events.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Netflix cartoon movies in enhancing elementary school students' English vocabulary mastery. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving 5 fourth-grade students at SDN 107420 Desa Tengah, Deli Serdang Regency. Data were collected through three instruments: vocabulary tasks, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis used the interactive model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that Netflix cartoon movies positively contributed to students' vocabulary mastery, as evidenced by improved participation, comprehension, and ability to use vocabulary in simple contexts. Students responded positively to this medium, stating that learning became more enjoyable, interesting, and less boring compared to conventional memorization methods. These findings are supported by Krashen's Input Hypothesis and Mayer's Multimedia Learning Theory, which explain that the combination of visual and auditory input in Netflix cartoon movies creates meaningful learning experiences for young learners. This study recommends the integration of Netflix cartoon movies as an innovative medium for vocabulary learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study examines the collaboration among the Subdistrict Head (Camat), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Koramil), and the Indonesian National Police (Polsek) in maintaining public security and public order in Amanatun Utara Subdistrict, South Central Timor Regency. The research was motivated by the increasing complexity of public security issues that require Collaborative governance among government institutions and security agencies. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis involving key stakeholders from the subdistrict government, military, police, village governments, traditional leaders, and community representatives. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, while the analytical framework was based on the Collaborative governance model proposed by Ansell and Gash. The findings reveal that collaboration has generally functioned effectively through adaptive communication, shared commitment, and clear institutional responsibilities. The presence of Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas, mutual trust among institutions, and supportive legal frameworks constitute the main enabling factors. However, collaboration remains constrained by limited human resources, insufficient operational funding, inadequate infrastructure, weak community-based security systems, and the absence of an integrated early warning mechanism. Strengthening institutional coordination, expanding community participation, and improving resource support are therefore essential to enhance sustainable Collaborative governance in maintaining public security.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the digital communication strategies of three Islamic-based political parties in Indonesia: the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Awakening Party (PKB), and the United Development Party (PPP) within the context of corporate communication in the digital era. The study employs a systematic documentary review method by observing digital artifacts on six major platforms, namely Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok, and official websites, during December 2–15, 2025. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods and mapped through a two-dimensional matrix based on content volume and platform diversification thresholds, supported by Manuel Castells’ Network Society theory. The findings reveal differences in digital communication performance despite shared ideological backgrounds. PKS demonstrates the strongest strategy, classified in the high dissemination and high content category with an average of 17 posts per day across five platforms. PKB is categorized as high dissemination and low content with 12 posts per day across four platforms, while PPP shows limited digital activity with one post per day on a single platform. The study concludes that digital political power in the network society is influenced more by organizational capacity and adaptation to digital media dynamics than by ideological orientation alone.
