Abstract

Flooding is one of the most common hydrometeorological disasters that significantly affects community life and governmental administration. Post-disaster management requires the involvement of multiple stakeholders through a collaborative approach to accelerate rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. This study aims to analyze the humanitarian mission carried out by cadets of the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in post-flood management in Aceh Tamiang Regency using the Collaborative Governance framework developed by Ansell and Gash (2008). The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through document analysis, including activity reports, photographic documentation, official publications from the Ministry of Home Affairs, IPDN, local governments, and other supporting documents. Data analysis was conducted through coding, categorizing, and thematizing processes, which were subsequently interpreted based on the dimensions of Collaborative Governance. The findings indicate that the involvement of IPDN cadets represents an effective practice of collaborative governance. In the starting conditions dimension, collaboration was driven by the urgent need for rehabilitation and the limited resources available to the local government. The facilitative leadership dimension was reflected in the olxtogel roles of the Ministry of Home Affairs, local governments, and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in facilitating coordination among stakeholders. Furthermore, institutional design was manifested through clear task allocation and coordination mechanisms, while the collaborative process was characterized by dialogue, trust, commitment, and shared understanding in supporting post-disaster recovery.

Abstract

Pregnancy complications remain a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. Pregnant women's limited knowledge of pregnancy danger signs and suboptimal participation in antenatal care (ANC) services can increase the risk of delayed detection and management of pregnancy complications. The Kinovaro Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Sigi Regency is one of the areas requiring maternal health information and activities that can increase pregnant women's participation in health education activities. This community service activity aims to improve pregnant women's knowledge and preparedness in preventing pregnancy complications through mentoring based on Pregnant Women's Classes. The activity involved eight pregnant women in their second and third trimesters. The methods used included health education, interactive discussions, simple pregnancy check-ups, pregnancy exercise demonstrations, and evaluation using pre- and post-tests. The results showed that all participants actively participated in the activity and had a good level of knowledge after participating. The average knowledge score increased from 77.5 to 80.0, an increase of 3.2%. In addition, participants were able to identify pregnancy danger signs, understand the importance of standard ANC visits, and practice pregnancy exercise movements independently. This activity demonstrates that mentoring through the Pregnant Women's Class can strengthen maternal health literacy, increase pregnant women's preparedness in recognizing pregnancy complications, and support the strengthening of maternal health services at the community level.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out to strengthen the advocacy capacity of the Pari Island community, Seribu Islands, DKI Jakarta, in defending their rights to land and living space from corporate claims of control. The problems faced by the community are not only related to land disputes, but also include social pressure, community polarization, threats of eviction, economic weakening, and damage to coastal alexistoto ecosystems due to reclamation activities. The community service activity was carried out through participatory dialogue, problem mapping, strengthening legal literacy, discussions on advocacy strategies, and the formulation of a sustainable assistance model with the community. The results of the activity indicate that the Pari Island community has carried out various forms of advocacy, including collective action, collaboration with civil society organizations, media publications, legal assistance, institutional complaints, and environmental advocacy. However, this advocacy still needs to be strengthened through internal consolidation, documentation of intimidation, strengthening the community economy, mangrove protection, and strengthening the community's mental health. This article offers the concept of advocacy for living space resilience as a model for assisting small island communities. This model combines legal, social, media, environmental, economic, psychological, and community-based documentation advocacy. With this approach, community service serves not only as an outreach activity but also as a socio-legal assistance process that strengthens community resilience in the face of long-term agrarian and ecological conflicts.

Abstract

Female inmates are vulnerable to various psychological challenges that may affect their psychological well-being, particularly their autonomy. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness therapy in improving the autonomy of female inmates at the Class IIA Women’s Correctional Institution in Tangerang. A pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–double posttest design was employed. The participants consisted of nine female inmates selected based on low to moderate levels of mindfulness and psychological well-being. Data were collected using the autonomy dimension of the Psychological well-being Scale and the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ). The results showed a significant increase in autonomy scores from pretest to posttest t(8) = -5.933, p < .001). The average N-Gain score was 0.50, indicating a moderate level of effectiveness. These findings suggest that mindfulness therapy was effective in enhancing the autonomy of female inmates. The results were further supported by participants’ worksheets, which indicated improvements in their ability to consider the consequences of their actions, regulate their emotions, and make decisions more independently.

Abstract

Violence against medical and health personnel remains a significant challenge in healthcare services due to its adverse effects on healthcare worker safety, service quality, and the safety culture within hospitals. The low rate of incident reporting, resulting from the absence of an accessible, secure, and integrated reporting mechanism, further limits the effectiveness of violence prevention and response efforts. This community service program aimed to strengthen the violence prevention and response system at Dr. Soeharsono Hospital, Banjarmasin, through capacity building, the development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Violence Incident Reporting, the establishment of a Violence Prevention and Response Task Force, and the development of the Fast Response Internal digital reporting mechanism. The program was conducted on June 8, 2026, involving 30 participants consisting of hospital management representatives, medical personnel, and healthcare workers using a participatory, needs-based approach. Program evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test instruments, with the results analyzed descriptively. The findings demonstrated an improvement in participants' level of understanding from 49.0% in the pre-test to 95.7% in the post-test. The program also produced several governance instruments, including the organizational structure of the Violence Prevention and Response Task Force, the SOP for Violence Incident Reporting, and the Fast Response Internal digital reporting mechanism integrated with QR Codes, Google Forms, and a monitoring dashboard to support incident reporting, verification, documentation, and systematic follow-up. This program contributes to strengthening hospital governance through the development of an integrated violence prevention and response system and has the potential to be adopted by other healthcare facilities.

Abstract

Catfish farming is one of the freshwater aquaculture sectors that plays an important role in improving community income and food security in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan. However, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the fisheries sector still face several challenges, including difficulties in determining the optimal harvest time, high fish mortality rates, and suboptimal management of water quality and feeding practices. These issues reduce production efficiency and may lead to economic losses for fish farmers. This community service program aimed to implement a Machine Learning-based application called Smart Lele to support decision-making in predicting harvest time and fish mortality. The program adopted a participatory approach consisting of five stages: needs assessment, application development and customization, training and socialization, technology implementation with mentoring, and monitoring and evaluation. The Smart Lele application utilizes cultivation data, including fish age, stocking density, feeding practices, water quality, fish growth, and mortality rates, to generate accurate predictions and management recommendations. The implementation of this application is expected to improve the digital literacy and technological capacity of fisheries MSMEs, support data-driven decision-making, reduce fish mortality, improve feed efficiency, optimize harvest timing, and strengthen the productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability of catfish farming businesses through digital transformation.

Abstract

The Women-Friendly, Child-Caring, and Quality Family Urban Village Program in Surakarta City positions Sahabat Perempuan, Anak, dan Keluarga (SAPA Keluarga) volunteers as a link between government programs and residents. Initial identification during the activity showed that the volunteers still experienced difficulties in understanding their mandate, success indicators, and how to formulate messages appropriate to their target audiences. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the volunteers' knowledge and initial policy communication capacity through the Message Sculptor approach combined with participatory game cards. The program involved 50 volunteers from Serengan and Danukusuman Urban Villages and was implemented through four stages: understanding, unlearning, unconference, and upshifting. The evaluation used aggregate score records before and after the activity, process observation, group discussions, and participant reflections. The mean knowledge score increased from 43.50 (SD = 7.02) to 79.20 (SD = 6.82), with a mean difference of 35.70 points. During facilitated exercises, participants began to formulate messages based on audience, values, objectives, emotions, and communication media, and to develop an initial SAPA Keluarga Division Action Plan (RAD-SAPA). These findings describe immediate changes within the training context and are not used to infer causal relationships, long-term behavioral change, or institutional sustainability. Message Sculptor may be considered a participatory learning tool to help volunteers translate program content into more contextual messages, supported by mentoring, role clarity, and organizational coordination.

Abstract

Background: Adolescent reproductive health remains a significant public health issue, particularly among female adolescents who frequently encounter misconceptions regarding menstruation and inadequate personal hygiene practices. Limited reproductive health literacy may increase the risk of reproductive tract infections, school absenteeism, and poor quality of life. Educational interventions based on participatory health promotion are expected to improve adolescents' knowledge and healthy behaviors. Objective: This community service program aimed to improve female adolescents' knowledge regarding reproductive health, healthy menstruation, menstrual hygiene management, and personal hygiene through structured educational interventions. Methods: The program employed a participatory educational approach using interactive lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, educational games, simulations, and pretest–posttest evaluation. Participants consisted of female students aged 12–18 years at Pondok Pesantren Assa'adah Maros. Educational materials included female reproductive anatomy, puberty, menstrual physiology, menstrual hygiene management, dysmenorrhea management, myths and facts regarding menstruation, and safe sanitary pad selection. Results: The educational intervention demonstrated an increase in participants' reproductive health knowledge as reflected by improvements in posttest scores compared with pretest results. Participants also demonstrated better understanding regarding menstrual hygiene practices, menstrual cycle monitoring, and appropriate reproductive health behaviors. Conclusion: Participatory reproductive health education effectively improves adolescents' knowledge and awareness regarding menstrual health and personal hygiene. Continuous collaboration among schools, pesantren, health professionals, and higher education institutions is recommended to sustain adolescent reproductive health promotion.

Abstract

Anemia among pregnant women remains a major public health problem, increasing the risk of pregnancy and childbirth complications, low birth weight, preterm birth, and maternal and neonatal mortality. Low health literacy regarding adequate nutrition, iron and folic acid supplementation (IFAS), and anemia prevention contributes to its high prevalence. This community service program aimed to improve pregnant women's health literacy through nutrition education and anemia prevention. Activities included interactive health education, group discussions, demonstrations on selecting iron-rich foods, educational leaflet distribution, and pre-test and post-test evaluations. Conducted at a community health center (Puskesmas), the program involved 30 pregnant women. Participants' mean knowledge score increased from 64.2 to 88.6 after the intervention. They also demonstrated better understanding of regular IFAS consumption, iron-rich food selection, and anemia prevention during pregnancy. Active participation reflected the effectiveness of the educational approach. This program is expected to encourage healthier anemia prevention behaviors, support healthy pregnancies, and contribute to reducing stunting risk during the First 1,000 Days of Life
