Abstract

Religious moderation is essential for promoting harmony among religious communities in Indonesia. Principals play a crucial role in integrating this principle into school environments. This study aims to examine how the principal of MAN 1 Garut applies religious moderation through his leadership. A descriptive qualitative method with an ethnographic approach was used, with data collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation. The findings reveal that the principal applies three stages in promoting religious moderation. The first stage is planning, which is carried out collectively with school staff and stakeholders. The second stage is implementation, where the principal employs a transformational leadership style, focusing on inspiration, empowerment, and providing exemplary behavior to the school community. The third stage is supervision, which involves evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness of the religious moderation program. Despite these efforts, the study identifies challenges, particularly from students who exhibit critical thinking regarding differences in religious views. These challenges require the principal to continuously adapt strategies to foster understanding and tolerance. This study contributes valuable insights for fostering inclusive, harmonious, and tolerant education, particularly in the context of Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

Character education plays a central role in shaping students into individuals with integrity and competitiveness. One of the approaches used to instill character values is through the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila dan Rahmatan Lil’Alamin (P5P2RA) based on local wisdom. This study aims to examine the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of character education through P5P2RA grounded in local culture. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. The study focuses on the application of character values such as faith and piety, love for the homeland, mutual cooperation, responsibility, creativity, proper manners (ta’abbud), and a dynamic and innovative attitude (tatawur wa ibtikar) within project-based learning activities that highlight local potential. The findings reveal that the implementation of P5P2RA based on local wisdom is fairly effective in developing students' character. Activities such as constructing miniature traditional houses and showcasing student work (Gelar Karya) encouraged students to collaborate, think critically, and appreciate local culture. However, the program still faces several challenges, including low active student participation in project creation, lack of enthusiasm, and limited transportation funding for field exploration activities. Nevertheless, the school has demonstrated its commitment to overcoming these obstacles by optimizing internal resources and implementing innovative strategies.

Abstract

The increasing demand for qualified Qur’an teachers in the digital era requires innovative training models that combine pedagogical quality with technological accessibility. The Tilawati Method, a widely used system for Qur’anic recitation instruction in Indonesia, has been adapted into an online format to meet this need. This study aims to optimize the implementation of online-based Qur’an Teacher Training using the Tilawati Method with a SWOT analysis approach to improve the quality of education. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation studies that are analyzed using a SWOT matrix. The results of the analysis show strengths such as time flexibility, cost efficiency, and detailed program structure; weaknesses such as dependence on internet connections and limitations of practice sessions; opportunities in equitable access to Qur’anic education; as well as threats in the form of infrastructure constraints and miscommunication between institutions. The proposed strategy includes technology optimization, improving post-training assistance services, and strengthening cooperation between central institutions and branches. This research is expected to be the basis for the development of Qur’an-based education policies based on the Tilawati Method that is continuous improvement.

Abstract

The Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila dan Profil Pelajar Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin (P5-PPRA) program is an innovative learning method in the Merdeka Curriculum designed to shape students’ holistic character through project-based learning. Although this program has great potential in internalizing the noble values of Pancasila and religious moderation, its implementation and effectiveness in Islamic educational institutions, especially madrasah, have not been comprehensively evaluated. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of P5-PPRA at Madrasah Aliyah Al Ma’arif Singosari, Malang Regency, with a focus on the integration of Pancasila and Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin values and their impact on student character building. Using a qualitative approach with the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that MA Al Ma’arif Singosari has successfully implemented P5-PPRA effectively, as seen from the mature needs analysis, resource readiness, structured implementation process, and product achievements in the formation of student character in line with Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah values (Tawazun, Tawassuth, Tasammuh, I’tidal, Ta’addud, and Ta’awwun). This research contributes theoretically to the development of educational evaluation science, especially the application of the CIPP model in the context of Islamic education, and provides practical references for policy makers in designing relevant and sustainable character education programs.

Abstract

Financial management in Islamic educational institutions continues to face challenges related to transparency, accountability, and compliance with Sharia principles. These conditions indicate the need for a more comprehensive approach to implementing values of justice, sustainability, and financial integrity. This study aims to analyze the application of Sharia economic principles in educational financial management and identify practical steps and implementation challenges. The research employs a systematic literature review of studies published between 2020 and 2024 that are relevant to Sharia-based financial management in educational institutions. The findings show that institutions applying Sharia principles tend to demonstrate more structured, transparent, and value-oriented financial systems. The study also reveals that human resource competence, leadership commitment, and external support are key factors influencing the successful implementation of Sharia principles. Additionally, the research identifies a gap between theoretical understanding and practical application, highlighting the need for clearer operational guidelines. The study concludes that an implementable model is essential to bridge Sharia principles with the practical demands of educational financial management. The main contribution lies in providing an applicative framework that can serve as a reference for Islamic educational institutions in strengthening Sharia-based financial governance.
