Abstract

This study aims to address issues in the scholarship recipient selection process in vocational high schools (SMK). The main challenge lies in the limited availability of scholarship, necessitating careful selection. The objective of this study is to implement the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method as a solution to enhance the structure, efficiency, and objectivity of the selection process. The SAW method is used as the primary approach, which involves steps such as determining the criteria, assigning preference weights, and ranking alternatives. The data used included a sample of five scholarship candidates from SMK N 1 Hiliran Gumanti, with the criteria divided into benefits and costs. The results of the selection of scholarships demonstrate the success of SAW in providing rankings according to predefined criteria. This research highlights the effectiveness of the SAW method in delivering objective rankings to scholarship candidates. The final results can help the selection team to determine the best scholarship recipients. The implementation of SAW is expected to create a more structured and efficient selection system at the SMK, opening opportunities for improved educational access for financially needy students.

Abstract

This study explores undergraduate (UG) students’ perceptions of online classes at Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College, Odisha, India, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a descriptive survey methodology, 270 6th-semester students from various streams were selected through disproportionate stratified random sampling. The study analyzes differences in perception based on locality, gender, and academic stream, revealing statistically significant variations in their views on online learning. These insights are crucial for educators and policymakers seeking to overcome the challenges of remote education and to tailor online teaching practices to meet diverse student needs. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on online education by providing evidence-based recommendations for enhancing the UG learning experience in virtual environments.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a desktop application for Monitoring Ships and storing data from the Automatic Identification System (AIS) utilizing Realtek Software Defined Radio (RTL-SDR) and Raspberry Pi devices. The development method employed is the waterfall model, using Python and PyQt as the main programming languages. Black-box testing was conducted on the application, covering aspects such as decoding AIS messages, real-time monitoring, historical data storage, and statistical analysis of the data. The test results indicate that the application successfully addresses challenges faced by the simple AIS receiver, achieving the research objectives by accurately decoding AIS messages, monitoring ship journeys in real-time, storing AIS data as historical data, and presenting informative statistical data. Despite some lag, especially on the Raspberry Pi device, the application contributes positively with improved accuracy and functionality. Further evaluation, technological updates, and integration with other devices are expected to enhance the application's performance. The use of Python and PyQt provides a foundation for further development to enhance the quality of ship navigation systems. It is recommended to involve the decoding of other AIS message types in future research and to consider building a ship journey simulation system for an interactive user experience.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of implementing the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by Multisim software on students' learning outcomes in the subject of planning and installation of audio-video systems (PISAV) in class XI Audio Video Engineering at SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra. This research uses a quasi-experimental research design with a quantitative approach. The experimental design employs the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. In this research, we conducted a pretest on one sample group before treatment (condition before), and after the treatment, we conducted a posttest (condition after). The sample in this study is the XI TAV class at SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra. The research instruments used include pretest and posttest questions in objective form. The results of this study show that the condition after treatment has an average of 79.09, exceeding the condition before treatment, with an average of 50.18. These results suggest that the application of the PjBL learning model assisted by Multisim software has a significant impact on improving students' learning outcomes by 57.61%. Based on the hypothesis test results, it can be concluded that the t-value (21.59) is higher than the t-table (1.68), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1). In conclusion, there is an improvement in students' learning outcomes in the PISAV subject after the application of the PjBL learning model assisted by Multisim software.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an electronic module based on Canva to enhance environmental awareness among seventh-grade students. The module development process utilized the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Borg and Gall development model. The development steps include field studies, planning, initial product development, limited testing, product revision, extensive testing, effectiveness evaluation, and final product revision. The E-JASBIO module contains materials on environmental pollution, presented in an engaging format with the integration of Quranic verses. The validation results from experts indicate a high level of suitability, with media experts rating it at 81%, material experts at 92%, and language experts at 88%. Field testing involving limited participants showed positive responses from teachers (78%) and students (80%), indicating the module's effectiveness. In conclusion, the E-JASBIO module is deemed highly suitable and effective in enhancing environmental awareness among seventh-grade students, with its engaging content and integration of multimedia elements contributing to its success.

Abstract

This research explored the impact of implementing Tinkercad-assisted learning media on the learning outcomes of 11th-grade Electronics Engineering students at SMK Negeri 5 Padang, focusing on embedded system programming. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a Non-equivalent Control Group Design method, the study comprised an experimental group using Tinkercad and a control group undergoing traditional direct learning. The analysis of pretest and posttest data revealed a significant difference between the two groups, with the experimental group exhibiting an 11.5% improvement in learning outcomes. The hypothesis test, employing the t-test, yielded a t-value of 2.231, surpassing the critical t-value (1.708). Consequently, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. The study concludes that the implementation of Tinkercad-assisted learning media had a significantly positive influence on the learning outcomes of Electronics Engineering students. These findings contribute to both practical and theoretical understanding regarding the effectiveness of Tinkercad in enhancing student learning outcomes in embedded system programming. It is recommended that further emphasis be placed on integrating Tinkercad into the curriculum to enrich students’ learning experiences and elevate the overall educational quality at SMK Negeri 5 Padang.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the extent of the contribution of study discipline and learning environment to the learning outcomes of Class X TAV students at SMKN 1 Linggo Sari Baganti. The research method employed is descriptive correlational, with a population of 49 students and a sample of 33 Class X TAV students selected randomly through Simple Random Sampling. Learning outcomes data were obtained from the Electronics Basics subject teacher, while data on study discipline and learning environment were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS program. The results of the research indicate that study discipline (X1) contributes 15.9% to learning outcomes, while the learning environment (X2) contributes 15.3%. Together, study discipline (X1) and the learning environment (X2) jointly contribute 21.3% to student learning outcomes (Y). These results suggest that higher levels of study discipline and a conducive learning environment are associated with better student learning outcomes. The implications of this research underscore the importance of efforts to enhance students' study discipline and create a conducive learning environment to improve their learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research focuses on developing an online platform for lesson scheduling and grade management at MAN 1 Padang using the Waterfall methodology. The platform adopts a structured Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture to optimize efficiency and modularity, ensuring easier updates and maintenance. By utilizing Laravel as the framework and MySQL as the database, the system offers robust performance and scalability. The platform facilitates various administrative tasks, including lesson scheduling, grading, and real-time report access for students and parents, enhancing transparency and engagement. Blackbox testing results show high functionality across key performance areas such as content clarity, interface usability, navigation, security, and system responsiveness. This development aims to address inefficiencies in manual scheduling and grading processes, providing a streamlined, automated solution that improves overall academic management at MAN 1 Padang. The system is expected to increase the institution’s operational efficiency, contribute to better learning outcomes, and foster stronger communication between the school, students, and parents.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a monitoring system for the computer network infrastructure at SMKN 7 Sijunjung. The system was designed to provide real-time monitoring of traffic, activity logs, and connected user devices on the MikroTik router; additionally, the application integrated notifications through the Telegram service to offer prompt information regarding network disruptions. The design methodology employed was PPDIOO (prepare, plan, design, implement, operate, and optimize). The system is implemented using a combination of hardware and software, including the utilization of the CodeIgniter framework for the user interface (UI). System testing was conducted using the BlackBox method to evaluate the functionality of the application comprehensively. The test results confirm that the application effectively monitored the network and promptly notified us of its status. However, there were certain challenges identified during testing, such as problems with online connectivity to the MikroTik router and limitations in database storage. The proposed solutions include activating the VPN on MikroTik and enhancing database storage capacity. This research contributes to the development of computer network infrastructure-monitoring systems in educational environments. These findings will lay the groundwork for other educational institutions to enhance the efficiency of network monitoring and maintenance in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop an Arduino Uno microcontroller-based automated system for controlling lighting and ventilation to minimize energy waste associated with user inattention in deactivating electronic devices. Using a Passive Infrared Receiver (PIR) sensor, the system detects human presence within a room and automatically activates or deactivates lighting and fans, optimizing energy consumption in real-time. The methodology follows the Research and Development (R&D) framework, encompassing four stages: (1) requirement analysis to identify key system functionalities and component specifications, (2) system design using flowcharts and block diagrams to outline hardware-software integration, (3) hardware assembly involving Arduino Uno, PIR sensors, and relay modules, and (4) functional testing for validating system accuracy in real-world conditions, specifically in human detection range and energy efficiency. The results indicate that the proposed system achieves an 8-meter detection range with high accuracy, aligning well with existing technologies in energy management for enclosed spaces. Compared to similar systems that utilize alternative microcontrollers or sensors, the Arduino Uno-based approach offers a cost-effective solution with comparable detection reliability and reduced energy waste, suitable for both residential and small commercial applications. The system’s capability to consistently reduce electricity consumption highlights its practical application in energy-saving initiatives, particularly within the context of increasing global energy demands. This research demonstrates that automated systems using accessible microcontroller technology like Arduino Uno can provide a significant impact in the field of energy-efficient automation.
