Abstract

The rapid growth of Indonesia’s digital economy has increased the number of online platform workers, predominantly young workers with secondary education. However, their understanding of labor rights and social security remains limited. This study aims to analyze young workers’ perceptions of the benefits of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan as a social protection instrument. A quantitative descriptive approach is used by utilizing secondary data from surveys as well as additional data. The findings reveal that workers’ comprehension of social security, labor regulations, and legal protection mechanisms is still low, influenced by education level, work experience, and interaction with digital platforms. Structural challenges such as unclear employment status, limited specific regulations, and the absence of written work contracts further increase their vulnerability to labor rights violations. These results emphasize the need to enhance legal and digital literacy and strengthen the roles of the government, platform companies, and worker organizations in improving social protection for online platform workers.

Abstract

Sustainable agricultural development has become increasingly urgent due to environmental degradation, climate change, and rural socio-economic inequality caused by high-input modern agricultural systems. In this context, ethnoecology-based traditional agricultural systems offer an alternative framework grounded in local ecological knowledge, cultural values, and community-based resource governance. This study aims to analyze how traditional agricultural systems can be formulated as a strategic approach to sustainable agricultural development within modern policy frameworks. The research employed a qualitative design using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis in rural communities practicing traditional agriculture. Data were analyzed through thematic coding and an interactive model of data reduction, display, and interpretation. The findings reveal three main dimensions: ecological sustainability through diversification and agroforestry practices; socio-institutional resilience through customary governance; and potential hybridization with modern technologies such as precision irrigation and climate-smart tools. The study concludes that integrating traditional ecological knowledge with contemporary agricultural innovation and legal recognition of customary institutions can strengthen inclusive and resilient sustainable agricultural development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of transformational leadership style on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. Transformational leadership, which involves motivation, inspiration, and attention to individual employee needs, is believed to enhance performance through improved job satisfaction. Data were collected from 50 employees of PT. Sukses Makmur Surabaya using a quantitative method with path analysis. The results show that transformational leadership has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction (β = 0.613) and employee performance (β = 0.312). Additionally, job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on employee performance (β = 0.427). The Sobel test confirms that job satisfaction mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance with a Z value of 3.011 (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that job satisfaction boosts employee motivation and commitment, which in turn drives better performance. Practical implications of these findings are that organizations should focus on developing transformational leadership styles and creating a supportive work environment to improve both job satisfaction and employee performance.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of religion as a form of alienation in Karl Marx’s thought and its relevance to contemporary religious studies. For Marx, religion is not merely a spiritual system but a social phenomenon reflecting economic and political conditions. Religion functions as the “opium of the people,” an ideological instrument that pacifies human suffering under social injustice. This study examines Marx’s theory of alienation and compares it with the ideas of Ludwig Feuerbach, Émile Durkheim, and Max Weber. The analysis shows that although Marx’s theory appears reductionist for viewing religion only through material conditions, it remains vital in understanding the relationship between faith, ideology, and social structures in religious studies.

Abstract

Mircea Eliade was a Romanian historian of religion and philosopher from Bucharest. He became influential in religious studies during the 20th century, focusing on the importance of myths and symbols in human experience. Notable works include "The Sacred and the Profane" and "Patterns in Comparative Religion," where he explored personal spiritual experiences and the distinction between the sacred and the profane. Eliade introduced concepts such as hierophanies, which refer to the manifestation of the sacred in everyday life. His scholarship laid the groundwork for comparative religion studies and enriched contemporary discussions on religious theories. His work laid the foundation for comparative religion studies and provided critical insights that inform contemporary discussions of the theories of religion. Scholars have drawn on his concepts to explore themes such as ritual, symbolism, and the human quest for meaning, thereby shaping various theories in the field. Eliade's legacy continues to inform how we study and interpret religions today. This research aimed to explore Eliade’s perspective on the interpretation of sacred knowledge in religion and beyond. Mircea Eliade’s "The Reality of the Sacred" is significant for several reasons, including the distinction between the sacred and the profane, the importance of myth and symbols, and the concept of Hierophanies. Overall, "The Reality of the Sacred" is celebrated for its innovative ideas and profound implications for understanding the nature of religious experience, positioning Eliade as one of the most influential figures in the study of religion. While his legacy continues to shape contemporary discussions in the field, it is essential to acknowledge certain aspects that might be lacking. Additionally, some criticisms of his writing merit further exploration.
