Abstract

Labor is a process that requires great energy and stamina, during this process the cervix will open and become thinner, making it easier for the fetus to descend into the birth canal. During labor, additional sources of energy from outside the body are needed to conserve glycogen stores during labor. Lack of nutritional intake during labor can reduce blood glucose levels so that the mother experiences muscle fatigue, characterized by high levels of lactate in the blood and inadequate uterine contractions which results in delayed progress or delayed delivery. The research method is descriptive observational with a population of 421 deliveries in Nisam District. The sample taken is part of the population. Research variables are maternal age at delivery, education, parity, distance of residence, occupation, socio-economic and birth attendant. The results of this study were from 81 deliveries that occurred in Nisam District in 2021, the mother's age at delivery was 20-35 years (93.8%), high school education (54.3%), Primipara parity (50.6%), distance of residence <15 minutes (69.1% ), non-civil servant occupation (86.4%), socio-economic minimum wage (53.1%), birth attendant assisted by a midwife (100%). The conclusion of this study is the characteristics of spontaneous delivery in Nisam District in 2021, namely; The highest maternal age at delivery was 20-35 years, the most education was high school, the most parity was primipara, the most residence distance was <15 minutes, the most occupations were Non-PNS, most socio-economically above the minimum wage, and spontaneous birth attendants by midwives.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders affecting the shoulder are a prevalent health issue in the construction sector, leading to reduced productivity and quality of life among workers. This study aims to identify risk factors and the prevalence of shoulder pain in construction workers through a systematic literature review. A literature review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines, with searches performed in five major databases: Scopus, PubMed, Taylor & Francis Online, ProQuest, and Science Direct. Out of 1,628 initially identified articles, seven studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed further. The findings indicate that the prevalence of shoulder pain among construction workers ranges from 18.3% to 72%, with key risk factors including non-ergonomic working postures, repetitive tasks, manual handling, high body mass index, advanced age, and psychosocial stressors. Additionally, environmental factors such as heat strain were found to contribute to the increased risk of shoulder pain. However, regular physical activity serves as a protective factor in reducing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders..

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition of increased pressure in the arteries. In general, hypertension often does not show symptoms, but blood pressure that is too high can increase the risk of stroke, aneurysm, heart failure, heart attack, and kidney damage. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of giving celery boiled water to the elderly with hypertension at the Rusip Health Center, Rusip Antara District, Central Aceh Regency, Aceh Province in 2022. The type of research is experimental with a research design using one group pre-post design, namely a research design that will be carried out by researchers by involving one group of subjects where the subject group will be observed before being treated and re-observed after being treated. This research was conducted at the Rusip Health Center, Rusip Antara District, Central Aceh Regency in 2022. The population in this study was 51 people, the number of samples used was 20 people using the Simple Random Sampling technique. The results of the study using the Wilcoxon test obtained a Z count value for systolic blood pressure of -2.911 with a p-value of 0.004. It is concluded that there is an effect of giving boiled celery water on reducing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension at the Rusip Health Center, Rusip Antara District, Central Aceh Regency in 2022.

Abstract

Hypertension is a serious medical condition and can increase the risk of heart, brain, kidney and other diseases. Hypertension can be treated by administering medical (pharmacological) and non-pharmacological drugs. One of the non-pharmacological treatments is using cucumber juice. Cucumbers are diuretic because of their high water content, which helps lower blood pressure. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of giving cucumber juice on blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Duha Medika Center Lampung Clinic in 2024. This research design uses a quasi-experimental design with a one group pre test - post test design without control group. The population in this study were patients at the Griya Sehat Kemiling Clinic. The population was 124 and the sample was 55 respondents using purposive sampling technique. This research was carried out in November 2024 at the Duha Medica Center Clinic. Data were collected using observation sheets and blood pressure measuring instruments, namely sphygmomanometers, univariate and bivariate data analysis (Wilcoxon Test). The results of statistical tests using the Wilcoxon test obtained a p-value = 0.000, so it can be concluded that there is an effect of giving cucumber juice on blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Duha Medika Center Clinic in 2024. Hypertensive patients are expected to be able to utilize natural ingredients to manage hypertension such as cucumber juice.

Abstract

Maternal and Child Health (MCH) surveillance plays a critical role in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in Palembang City. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the implementation of MCH surveillance at the Padang Selasa Health Center in Palembang, focusing on the health conditions of mothers and children from 2022 to 2024. Using secondary data from annual and monthly reports, the study found that anemia and Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK) in pregnant women remain significant health concerns. Furthermore, while the exclusive breastfeeding program and Vitamin A distribution showed positive outcomes, immunization coverage has declined in 2024, highlighting potential gaps in access and outreach. The study emphasizes the need for improved healthcare access, more effective nutritional education for pregnant women, and enhancements in the distribution and awareness of immunization programs to reduce maternal and child health risks.

Abstract

In individuals with osteoarthritis (OA), the knee is one of the main causes of functional limitations and pain in older adults. As a result, it will cause chronic knee joint pain, stiffness, decreased quality of life and physical disabilities such as difficulty walking, climbing stairs, and sitting and getting up from a chair. Impaired muscle function and decreased fitness can potentially be treated with exercise therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of providing physiotherapy interventions combined with exercise therapy in cases of knee OA. The research method used a case report with single subject research conducted at Bagas Waras Klaten Hospital in April 2025. Subjects were given therapy interventions 3 times in 2 weeks with Infrared, TENS, Massage therapy and exercise therapy modalities, namely hip abductor strengthening exercise and quadriceps strengthening exercise. The results showed a decrease in pain evaluated using VAS, increased muscle strength using MMT, increased LGS using a goniometer, and increased functional ability using WOMAC. Suggestions for patients with knee OA include doing hip abductor strengthening exercise and quadriceps strengthening exercise therapy to help reduce pain and increase muscle strength so they can perform daily functional activities better.

Abstract

Handwashing with soap is essential to eliminate germs and prevent disease transmission. In 2024, Palembang City recorded 34,350 cases of diarrhoea, with the highest at Gandus Health Centre 2,729 cases. This study aims to examine the effect of health promotion using jingle media on the knowledge and practice of handwashing with soap among students of SD Negeri 147 Palembang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pre-test–post-test. The population consisted of all Year V students, with a sample of 60 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation sheets. The study revealed an increase in the average knowledge score from 23.33 (pre-test) to 92.50 (post-test), and in practice from 28.54 to 89.58. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.000 for both variables. The findings indicate that jingle media significantly improved knowledge (mean difference = 65.17; p = 0.000) and handwashing practice (mean difference = 61.04; p = 0.000). Schools are encouraged to continue supporting and facilitating handwashing education through engaging media, such as jingles, to enhance clean and healthy behaviour among students.
