Abstract

The peak of the glory of Islam can be seen from the progress of the Abbasid Dynasty during the leadership of Harun Ar-Rasyid. Because of the rapid progress in all fields, this era was nicknamed as The Golden Age (Golden Age). This progress is seen in various fields ranging from education, economy and infrastructure, making the Abbasid Dynasty highly respected by other nations. Progress is also seen in the field of health and the development of medical science. The Abbasid Dynasty government focused on developing science so that Muslim scientists and Muslim doctors emerged whose knowledge influenced the world of medicine in the world. Starting from Ibn Sina and Ar-Razi who are very famous as the fathers of modern medicine. The purpose of writing this article is to find out the development and progress of the Abbasid Dynasty in the field of medicine and health. The process of making this article uses the (Library Research) method by collecting a number of books, magazines, journals and relevant sources as well as in-depth analysis. Medical science developed rapidly in the Abbasid era where medical figures and techniques emerged that were very influential for the development of medical science and technology today. Ibn Sina became a pioneer in the advancement of health and medical science, he also wrote a book At-Tibb Law which is a reference for medical science throughout the world.

Abstract

Adolescent obesity has become a global public health crisis, demanding effective and engaging intervention strategies. While mobile health (mHealth) apps offer a scalable platform for promoting healthy lifestyles, maintaining long-term engagement among adolescents remains a significant challenge. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a gamified Health application on promoting positive changes in physical activity, dietary habits, and anthropometric measures among adolescents at risk for obesity, compared to a non-gamified version of the same application. A 12-week, quasi-experimental study was conducted with 150 adolescents (aged 13-16) with a BMI above the 85th percentile. Participants were assigned to either an intervention group (n=75) using a gamified mHealth app featuring points, badges, and leaderboards, or a control group (n=75) using a non-gamified version with identical health content. The intervention group demonstrated significantly greater increases in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (p < .01) and higher consumption of fruits and vegetables (p < .05) compared to the control group. Furthermore, the gamified app users showed a modest but statistically significant reduction in their BMI z-score (p < .05), a change not observed in the control group. App engagement metrics were also 70% higher in the intervention group. The integration of gamification elements into mHealth applications is a highly effective strategy for preventing obesity in adolescents.

Abstract

Social isolation is a significant and modifiable risk factor for accelerated cognitive decline and dementia in aging populations. Traditional methods for detecting cognitive changes, such as clinical screenings, are often infrequent and fail to capture the subtle, early behavioral shifts that precede a formal diagnosis. This study aimed to develop and validate an artificial intelligence model designed for the early detection of cognitive decline by passively monitoring behavioral and vocal biomarkers of social isolation in older adults living independently. A 24-month, prospective longitudinal study was conducted with a cohort of 200 community-dwelling adults aged 70 and older. A suite of unobtrusive in-home sensors was used to passively collect data on movement patterns, social communication (frequency and duration of conversations), and computer/phone usage. The AI-powered system identified individuals who would later show clinically significant cognitive decline with an accuracy of 91% and a lead time of approximately 7 months before formal assessment. The model successfully distinguished between simple loneliness and the specific behavioral patterns of social withdrawal associated with cognitive impairment. AI-powered passive monitoring systems are a highly effective and ecologically valid tool for the pre-clinical detection of cognitive decline linked to social isolation.

Abstract

Climate change is intensifying the frequency and severity of heatwaves, posing a significant threat to public health. Urban elderly populations are particularly vulnerable due to the urban heat island effect and age-related physiological sensitivities. Quantifying this risk with precision is essential for developing targeted public health interventions. This study aimed to quantify the association between exposure to extreme heat events, as measured by remote sensing data, and all-cause mortality among an elderly urban population. A retrospective cohort study was conducted using health data for 50,000 urban residents aged 65 and over from 2015-2022. Land Surface Temperature (LST) data derived from Landsat satellites were used to define heatwave exposure at a granular, neighborhood level. Cox proportional hazards models were used to analyze the association between heatwave exposure and mortality, adjusting for confounding variables. A significant association was found between heatwave exposure and increased mortality risk. For each 1°C increase in LST during a heatwave, there was a 5.2% (95% CI: 4.5%-6.0%) increase in all-cause mortality. The risk was most pronounced in neighborhoods with lower green space coverage. Satellite-derived remote sensing data provide a powerful tool for assessing heatwave-related mortality risk in urban elderly populations. These findings underscore the urgent need for urban planning and public health strategies focused on heat mitigation to protect vulnerable residents.

Abstract

One of the main causes of infant mortality is low birth weight babies. Low birth weight babies are high risk babies and are susceptible to various problems such as the risk of respiratory infections, low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia), eating disorders, too many red blood cells and the risk of experiencing hypothermia. Hypothermia in babies with low birth weight is caused by very thin subcutaneous fat so it is influenced by environmental temperature. In general, babies with low birth weight must be treated with an incubator or using the KMC method so that their body temperature is maintained. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) method among mothers and the increase in Low Birth Weight (LBW) Babies in the NICU Room at Mayapada Hospital, South Jakarta. This research is quantitative using a correlative analytical descriptive design with a cross sectional approach. Conclusion: shows that there is a significant relationship between knowledge about the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) Method in mothers and the increase in Low Birth Weight (LBW) in the NICU room at Mayapada Hospital, South Jakarta.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed healthcare delivery, with telemedicine emerging as a vital tool for improving accessibility, efficiency, and patient-centered care. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of telemedicine, highlighting its role in bridging geographical barriers and optimizing medical consultations through virtual platforms. Despite its benefits, challenges such as regulatory issues, technological disparities, and concerns about patient data security remain significant obstacles to its widespread implementation. This study aims to examine the impact of telemedicine on modern healthcare services, evaluate its effectiveness in improving patient outcomes, and identify barriers to adoption. A systematic review approach was used, analyzing peer-reviewed studies, clinical reports, and policy papers published between 2018 and 2024. The findings indicate that telemedicine enhances healthcare accessibility, reduces consultation wait times, and lowers healthcare costs, particularly in remote and underserved areas. However, limitations such as uneven internet infrastructure, resistance from healthcare providers, and variations in legal frameworks hinder its optimal utilization. This study concludes that telemedicine represents the future of digital healthcare, requiring further technological advancements, regulatory standardization, and healthcare professional training to maximize its potential. Future research should explore AI-integrated telemedicine models and their role in improving diagnosis and treatment personalization.

Abstract

The integration of nanotechnology into medicine has revolutionized genetic-based diagnostics and therapeutic interventions, offering unprecedented precision in disease detection and treatment. Advances in nano-medicine have enabled early-stage disease identification, targeted drug delivery, and personalized medical treatments, particularly in oncology, neurology, and rare genetic disorders. Despite these advancements, challenges such as biocompatibility, scalability, and regulatory approval remain significant barriers to widespread clinical implementation. This study aims to analyze the impact of nano-medicine on genetic-based diagnosis and therapy, assess its effectiveness in enhancing patient outcomes, and identify the obstacles limiting its adoption. A systematic review methodology was employed, analyzing peer-reviewed articles, clinical trial reports, and experimental studies from 2018 to 2024. The findings indicate that nano-medicine significantly improves genetic disease detection accuracy, enhances drug bioavailability, and minimizes adverse side effects through precision-targeted therapies. However, issues such as high development costs, ethical concerns, and long regulatory processes impede rapid integration into mainstream healthcare. This study concludes that nano-medicine represents a paradigm shift in genetic-based medical interventions, requiring further research in bioengineering optimization, regulatory framework standardization, and cost-effective production. Future studies should explore AI-driven nanotechnology applications and their role in improving real-time genetic diagnostics and personalized therapies.

Abstract

The increasing burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) presents significant challenges for public health worldwide. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in epidemiology has emerged as a promising tool for predicting, monitoring, and controlling the spread of these diseases. This study aims to explore the role of AI in enhancing epidemiological practices and improving public health outcomes. The research employs a systematic review methodology, analyzing 60 peer-reviewed articles on the integration of AI technologies in disease prediction and control. The findings indicate that AI, particularly machine learning (ML) algorithms, has demonstrated remarkable success in predicting disease outbreaks, identifying high-risk populations, and optimizing resource allocation. AI-driven tools have been effectively utilized in both communicable diseases, such as influenza and COVID-19, and NCDs, including diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The study concludes that AI holds substantial potential for transforming epidemiological practices, offering more accurate forecasts and efficient interventions. However, challenges such as data privacy concerns and resource limitations in low-income settings need to be addressed. The research highlights the need for continued investment in AI technologies to strengthen global disease prevention and control efforts.

Abstract

The growing demand for healthcare services, coupled with the global shortage of healthcare professionals, has led to a need for innovative solutions to improve care efficiency and accessibility. Tele-nursing, a remote healthcare delivery model, has emerged as a promising solution to address these challenges. This study aims to explore the potential of tele-nursing in enhancing healthcare delivery, focusing on its role in improving efficiency and expanding access to care. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews with healthcare professionals and quantitative analysis of patient outcomes from tele-nursing programs. The findings suggest that tele-nursing has the potential to reduce hospital readmissions, increase patient satisfaction, and improve chronic disease management. Furthermore, tele-nursing has proven effective in providing care to underserved populations, particularly in rural and remote areas, where access to healthcare services is limited. The study concludes that tele-nursing can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare by offering a more efficient and accessible alternative to traditional in-person care. However, challenges such as technology access, training, and regulatory issues must be addressed to ensure the successful integration of tele-nursing into healthcare systems.

Abstract

The healthcare sector faces increasing pressure to improve efficiency in patient management due to rising demands for services and limited nursing resources. The integration of wearable devices in healthcare offers a promising solution to enhance nursing efficiency by providing real-time monitoring and data collection. This study aims to explore the impact of wearable devices on nursing efficiency, particularly in the management of patients with chronic conditions. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative analysis of patient outcomes and qualitative interviews with healthcare professionals using wearable technology in clinical settings. The results show that the use of wearable devices led to a 20% reduction in nurse workload, as real-time monitoring allowed for early detection of health issues, reducing the need for frequent in-person checks. Additionally, patient satisfaction increased by 15% due to the continuous monitoring and prompt intervention facilitated by wearable devices. The study concludes that wearable devices can significantly enhance nursing efficiency and improve patient outcomes, particularly in chronic disease management. The integration of these devices into healthcare systems has the potential to alleviate nursing shortages, improve patient care, and optimize resource allocation. However, challenges such as data security and device integration must be addressed for widespread adoption.
