Abstract

In the current era of information disruption and pluralistic discourse, santri (Islamic students) desperately need discursive reasoning skills and critical awareness to interact argumentatively in the public sphere. Critical pedagogy-based teaching, which prioritizes dialogue, clarification, and intellectual courage, is seen as an effective strategy for transforming traditional learning into a more participatory one. While research on ta’dzim has tended to focus on symbolic obedience, this article evaluates the shift in meaning from epistemic respect to passive obedience, which hinders students' logic. The impact of this rigid hierarchical culture is evaluated on the reduction of critical reasoning skills and the development of students' cognitive dimensions and reflective awareness (conscientization). This research aims to deconstruct ta’dzim culture by integrating Sayyidah Aisyah's (r.a.) critical pedagogical model into the Islamic boarding school education system. Using a qualitative approach with a literature review method and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) techniques, this study analyzes power relations in religious pedagogical texts through data reduction and categorization. The findings indicate that Sayyidah Aisyah's pedagogy has a positive impact in the form of active-discursive ta'dzim (religious understanding), where tashīḥ (clarification) and dialectical dialogue serve as scaffolding to enhance the intellectual agency of students. The findings conclude that the authority of the kiai (Islamic cleric) is not diminished by criticism; rather, the revitalization of knowledge through discussion strengthens the students' morals and epistemic responsibility. Consequently, this reconstruction enables Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) to become progressive learning spaces without abandoning their traditional roots.

Abstract

The success of Sharia economics is contingent upon adhering to the principles of Islamic economics in all its actions. Because of this, it is essential to get a complete understanding through Sharia economic education, which covers many vital principles that greatly help the growth of national character education with an Islamic focus. Nevertheless, empirical evidence indicates that students must still strive to enhance their capacity to articulate and comprehend real-world phenomena and analyse solutions to societal issues through the lens of Sharia economics. The objective of this study is to develop a comprehensive Sharia economic learning model for students in the Department of Economic Education at the Muhammadiyah University of Jember. The model will enable students to accurately describe and analyse real-life phenomena and provide interpretations and solutions based on the principles of Sharia economics. The study methodology employed is a descriptive approach aimed at elucidating the research findings derived from the respondents and field observations, utilising both primary and secondary data sources. The research will extensively explore the findings related to comprehending Sharia economic material through a direct learning methodology. The article will also highlight the necessary efforts required to optimise the research's objectives.

Abstract

This study examines the role and importance of the exemplary method in moral education through the lens of Abdullah Nashih Ulwan's teachings. Utilizing a content analysis approach, the research investigates the concepts presented in Ulwan's seminal work, Tarbiyatul Aulad Fil Islam, and related literature. The study highlights that Ulwan advocates for educators to serve as role models, demonstrating virtues such as humility, courage, patience, honesty, piety, and firmness. These attributes are essential in shaping children's character and moral compass. The research underscores the urgency of integrating moral education into educational curricula, emphasizing that educators should embody these virtues not only in their professional roles but also in personal conduct. The findings suggest that adopting Ulwan's exemplary method can significantly enhance the effectiveness of moral education and contribute to the development of a well-rounded, ethical society.

Abstract

The concept of human nature and their role in the universe has been a subject of extensive exploration in Islamic philosophy. This article examines how misconceptions about human identity can lead to behaviors of egoism, arrogance, and subjugation. By analyzing Qur'anic verses and the insights of thinkers like Abu al-A'la al-Maududi and 'Abd al-Rahman al-Nahlawi, the paper explores the duality of human potential for greatness and error. The Qur'an provides guidance to transcend arrogance, fostering humility and spiritual growth. This study also delves into the roles of humans as servants of God, khalifah fi alardh (stewards of the earth), and imamrah fi al-ardh (leaders of the earth), emphasizing their responsibility to cultivate a peaceful and prosperous society. The balance between understanding human limitations and leveraging their unique capacities for knowledge is crucial for achieving harmony with the divine and the world.

Abstract

In today's era of globalization and disruption, students are required to possess complex non-academic skills such as spiritual resilience, discipline, and moral integrity. Integrating religious values through orchestrating school culture is seen as a creative and effective management strategy to enhance these competencies. This research is motivated by the scarcity of evaluations of daily routines as a values management strategy, with previous research generally focusing only on the formal curriculum or administrative leadership. This study evaluates the impact of morning assembly and communal prayer on students' readiness to learn and internalization of values in the development of students' affective and psychomotor domains. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the strategic role of participatory leadership in institutionalizing religious values into a sustainable school culture. Using qualitative methods with a case study design at Baitul Qur'an Junior and Senior High Schools (SMP-SMA) in Subang, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Data were then analyzed interactively through data reduction, data presentation, and source triangulation. The results of the study indicate that participatory leadership has a significant positive impact in creating preventative social control and serves as scaffolding for the internalization of the values of trust and responsibility. However, it was found that formal participation without reflective engagement had no significant effect on the depth of students' spiritual awareness. In conclusion, the integration of values through daily habituation driven by participatory leadership can strengthen the school's management function and serve as a contextual form of da'wah bil-hal (Islamic outreach). The implication is that Islamic educational institutions need to manage daily rituals in a planned and reflective manner for the sustainability of student character formation in the future.

Abstract

In today's rapidly evolving digital era, critical thinking skills, ethical literacy, and independent learning have become essential competencies for students, where reflective and dialogical pedagogy-based teaching is seen as the most effective creative strategy for fostering depth of meaning. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the transformation of Islamic education (tarbiyah) pedagogy, which tends to be trapped in the mechanical adoption of technology. Meanwhile, Islamic education research has largely evaluated the effectiveness of media on students' cognitive and motor skills without addressing the deeper spiritual dimension. The primary objective of this research is to formulate an integrative framework that synergizes digital innovation with Islamic values to ensure the sustainability of character development in cyberspace. Using qualitative methods through a conceptual-analytical study design and a systematic literature review of journals and education policy documents, data were analyzed thematically to map gaps in contemporary practices. The results reveal that current digital learning is still dominated by a technical-instrumental approach, which results in superficial internalization of values. Learning designs that are not value-oriented fail to significantly shape students' moral integrity. The findings indicate that scaffolding through the educator's role as a facilitator of meaning and value guidance is more influential than the sophistication of the technology itself. In conclusion, integrating Islamic values into digital learning design innovations is not simply a methodological choice, but a moral and pedagogical imperative to create humanistic, relevant, and meaningful education in the digital age.
