Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is a journal on Faculty of Education. Jurnal JERKIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is under the auspices of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai. The journal is registered with E-ISSN: 2961-9890. Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is published four times a year in September, December, March and June. Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan receives 50 articles per issue. Abstract

Kidney failure is a growing public health problem, including among adolescents, largely influenced by unhealthy lifestyles and poor dietary habits. Early prevention through health education is essential to reduce the risk of kidney disease in the future. This community service program aimed to improve adolescents’ knowledge and awareness regarding healthy lifestyles and balanced dietary patterns for the prevention of kidney failure. The program was implemented at SMA Muhammadiyah Al Kautsar PK Kartasura and targeted senior high school students using an Active Learning approach, including group discussions, simulations, role play, interactive quizzes, and case studies. The activities began with early health screening, such as blood pressure measurement, body mass index assessment, and random blood glucose testing, followed by interactive health education sessions. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure changes in students’ knowledge levels. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in knowledge, with the proportion of students categorized as having good knowledge increasing from 18.82% in the pre-test to 91.76% in the post-test. In addition, students showed high enthusiasm and active participation throughout the program.

Abstract

The Education Unit Revitalization Program aims to modernize and improve the quality of education across Indonesia through infrastructure enhancement, digitalized learning systems, and capacity building for educators. SMPN 5 Takisung is one of the target schools, with construction activities in the administration and health unit rooms, covering work from foundation to roof. Each project stage carries potential risks that require careful supervision regarding time, cost, and quality. The program involves Planning, Supervisory,Organizer , and Facilitators for guidance, monitoring, and educating the school staff. Implementation includes initial assessment, training and mentoring, and evaluation. The outcome is expected to enhance the school’s understanding and ability to manage development projects effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential implementation and design a conceptual methodological framework for utilizing Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the context of bilingual English language learning in Indonesia. Stemming from the limitations of the one-size-fits-all learning model in accommodating the diverse proficiency levels and first language backgrounds of students, this study employs a systematic literature review and conceptual analysis as its primary methods, without involving field data collection. The results of the literature synthesis indicate that Generative AI, particularly through its capability to produce content, feedback, and interactive scenarios in real-time, holds transformative potential for realizing personalized learning on a large scale. The research proposes an AI-Based Adaptive Learning Methodology Design that encompasses three main pillars: 1) Rapid Diagnosis and Adaptive Learning Pathway Determination based on students' linguistic data; 2) Creation of Contextual Bilingual Materials (e.g., generating reading texts with controlled difficulty and cognitive assistance translations); and 3) Instant Feedback and Error Correction Systems Tailored to individual error patterns. The implementation of this proposed model is expected to serve as a theoretical guide for the development of language learning platforms that are more effective, inclusive, and relevant to the specific needs of bilingual students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of basic technical skills in sepak takraw among athletes from Deli Serdang Regency. The research method used was quantitative descriptive, with a sample of 18 athletes selected using a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments consisted of tests on seven components of basic sepak takraw techniques, namely kicking, thigh control, chest control, shoulder control, heading, smash, and block. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to obtain the mean, standard deviation, maximum, and minimum values. The results showed that the basic technical skills of sepak takraw athletes in Deli Serdang Regency were in the “moderate” category, with 27.8% of athletes in the high category, 50% in the moderate category, and 22.2% in the low category. No athletes were found in the very high or very low categories. The conclusion of this study indicates that the athletes’ basic technical skills are fairly good but still need improvement, particularly in smash and block techniques, through more focused and continuous training programs.

Abstract

The low learning motivation of students with intellectual disabilities is influenced by cognitive limitations, as well as instructional practices in special schools that are not yet fully adaptive. Based on these conditions, this community service program is directed at implementing instructional strategies that can enhance the learning motivation of students with intellectual disabilities through interactive learning approaches. The activities focus on hands-on implementation in the classroom to apply interactive methods directly to students with intellectual disabilities at SLBN 2 Yogyakarta. Interactive learning media were developed based on the needs of students with intellectual disabilities. The results of this program indicate that the application of interactive learning accompanied by positive reinforcement can foster more consistent learning motivation among students with intellectual disabilities. In addition, direct engagement in the field enables adjustments to methods according to each student’s needs, leading to increased enthusiasm and willingness to complete tasks. In conclusion, interactive instructional strategies tailored to the characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities play a significant role in improving learning motivation at SLBN 2 Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Multicultural education in 21st-century learning requires teachers who are pedagogically skilled, culturally sensitive, emotionally adaptive, and digitally literate. This study explores teachers’ readiness to implement multicultural values through a qualitative case study in a culturally diverse vocational school. Data were obtained from semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The findings show that teachers generally understand the importance of multicultural principles; however, variations remain in pedagogical design, intercultural interaction skills, conflict management, and digital media utilization. Limited professional development, minimal integration of local cultural resources, and resistance to change are recognized as current barriers. Strengthening institutional support and continuous teacher training is essential to empower teachers as cultural mediators who foster inclusive learning environments. This study highlights the urgency of enhancing teacher readiness so multicultural education can be applied more effectively in classroom practice.

Abstract

The Coastal Community Economic Empowerment Program through International CSR Collaboration is a collaborative initiative between Ibnu Sina University Batam and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) that aims to strengthen the coastal community economy through capacity building, technology transfer, and institutional strengthening based on international collaboration. Activities are carried out through workshops, technical training, hands-on training, benchmarking, and FGDs that focus on sustainable fisheries technology, modern mariculture, seafood processing, coastal business management, digital marketing strategies, and environmental conservation. Pre-test and post-test-based evaluations show significant improvements in three main aspects, namely coastal technical knowledge (±40%), business management capacity (±40%), and environmental awareness (±35%). In addition to improving participant competency, this program also broadens understanding of international CSR best practices and encourages the formation of action plans that can be replicated in Indonesian coastal communities. Overall, this activity has had a real impact on increasing the economic independence of coastal communities and has become an international CSR model with the potential for wider application..

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) memiliki peran strategis dalam perekonomian lokal, namun sebagian besar pelaku UMKM masih menghadapi keterbatasan dalam pengelolaan keuangan usaha. Permasalahan yang umum dijumpai adalah tidak adanya pencatatan keuangan yang sistematis sehingga pelaku usaha kesulitan mengetahui laba, arus kas, serta perkembangan usaha. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan pelaku UMKM dalam menerapkan manajemen keuangan sederhana. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan langsung kepada mitra UMKM. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta terhadap konsep dasar manajemen keuangan, kemampuan menyusun pencatatan keuangan sederhana, serta kesadaran akan pentingnya pemisahan keuangan usaha dan pribadi. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kinerja dan keberlanjutan UMKM.

Abstract

The development of tourism villages based on local wisdom is an important community empowerment strategy to promote green economic self-reliance. Tourism villages serve not only as tourist destinations but also as platforms for sustainable rural economic empowerment. Sewu Kembang Tourism Village in Nglurah Hamlet possesses significant natural and cultural potential; however, this potential has not been optimally managed in terms of production systems, institutional management, and marketing. This community service program aims to enhance compost fertilizer production capacity, strengthen institutional management, and develop digital-based marketing strategies for the Joint Business Group (KUBE) “Dwi Tunggal” and the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) of Nglurah Hamlet. The program employed a participatory approach through workshops, technical assistance, and operational document facilitation. The results indicate improvements in production capacity, the establishment of structured management systems, and the implementation of marketing media and strategies. These findings demonstrate that empowerment based on local wisdom and green economy principles can enhance institutional capacity and support the sustainable economic development of tourism villages.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada upaya mengoptimalkan hasil belajar IPAS, khususnya pada materi rangka, sendi, dan otot melalui model implementasi Pembelajaran Inkuiri berbantuan media wayang replika rangka manusia pada siswa kelas VI SDN Cijeler II. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang diterapkan dalam dua siklus, mencakup fase perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi terhadap 12 subjek penelitian. Data perkembangan belajar siswa diperoleh melalui instrumen tes tertulis yang diberikan pada setiap akhir siklus. Hasil penelitian mengkonfirmasi adanya ketuntasan belajar yang signifikan, dari 41,60% pada siklus I menjadi 91,60% pada siklus II. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa sinergi antara model inkuiri dan penggunaan media alat peraga konkret mampu meningkatkan partisipasi aktif serta pemahaman konsep siswa secara mendalam. Dengan demikian, pendekatan ini sangat direkomendasikan sebagai salah satu strategi pembelajaran inovatif yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran pada jenjang sekolah dasar.
