Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is a journal on Faculty of Education. Jurnal JERKIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is under the auspices of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai. The journal is registered with E-ISSN: 2961-9890. Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is published four times a year in September, December, March and June. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of three underarm hair removal methods shaving, waxing, and depilatory cream in terms of effectiveness, comfort, irritation risk, and cost efficiency among students of the Family Welfare Education (PKK) Study Program. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design involving 25 students who regularly perform hair removal. Data were collected through structured surveys and in-depth interviews, then analyzed inductively to identify key themes. The findings reveal that shaving is preferred for its practicality and low cost, waxing is the most effective and long-lasting method, while depilatory creams are considered the most comfortable and suitable for sensitive skin. The study concludes that no single method is universally superior; the optimal choice depends on balancing practicality, effectiveness, comfort, and individual skin conditions.

Abstract

The implementation of the arrival of MT. Esteem Energy at Pulau Laut Port by PT. Maritime Network Indonesia Kotabaru Branch is a crucial operational activity that requires careful planning and coordination between stakeholders. This study aims to analyze the determining factors for the success of the ship's arrival, including ETA accuracy, communication and coordination effectiveness, dock facility readiness, compliance with maritime regulations, environmental conditions, and the professionalism of the ship's crew and agents. The research was conducted through field observations and literature studies of maritime literature and regulations. The results of the study indicate that the success of the operation is influenced by the synergy of technical, administrative, and human resource factors. Good planning, timely information exchange, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination between parties play an important role in improving the efficiency, safety, and punctuality of ship arrivals.

Abstract

Weather conditions play a crucial role in determining the safety and efficiency of ship bunkering operations. This study examines the influence of weather factors on ship bunkering activities conducted by PT Subsea Lintas Globalindo Surabaya. Historical weather data and bunkering operational data were analyzed to identify correlations between weather conditions—such as wind speed, wave height, and rainfall—and bunkering completion time, accident risk, and potential fuel spill incidents. In addition, this study investigates the impact of adverse weather on operational costs and bunkering schedules within the company. The research employed a qualitative approach through field research, including direct observation and interviews with operational personnel, complemented by library research to support theoretical analysis. The results indicate that high wind speeds and significant wave heights negatively affect bunkering completion time, increase the risk of off-hire events, and potentially cause damage to bunkering equipment. Furthermore, heavy rainfall contributes to reduced visibility, which in turn slows down bunkering operations and increases the likelihood of occupational accidents. Overall, the findings emphasize the importance of effective weather risk management to enhance operational safety, efficiency, and cost control in ship bunkering activities.

Abstract

Arabic language learning at Ma'had Al-Jami'ah plays a strategic role in supporting Islamic studies for students at Islamic universities, but still faces various problems that affect its effectiveness. This study aims to identify and analyze the problems and challenges of Arabic language learning at Ma'had Al-Jami'ah UIN Bandung using a descriptive qualitative approach. The results show that the problems stem from two main aspects: educators and students. From the educators' perspective, obstacles include suboptimal learning readiness, insufficiently varied methods, and inconsistent formation of the language environment (bi'ah lughawiyah). From the students' perspective, problems include differences in background and initial Arabic language abilities, low learning motivation, and limited individual mentoring. These findings indicate that the problems of Arabic language learning are multidimensional and require comprehensive handling through strengthening communicative methods, consistent language environment management, and adaptive mentoring strategies.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative approach to in-depth examine the failure of the culinary MSME "Dapur Mami" in Medan City, which in 2021 demonstrated superior performance through product exports to international markets. The study aims to identify the main factors causing the bankruptcy and formulate an information systems (IS)-based resilience framework for risk mitigation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and digital artifact review, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results identified four main causes of failure: unstable export market dominance, weak production and supply chain management, suboptimal digital marketing and customer relationship management (CRM), and the absence of an information system supporting financial analysis and decision-making. This bankruptcy reflects a systemic failure resulting from premature expansion without operational readiness and digital infrastructure. As a contribution, this study develops a Digital Resilience Framework for Culinary MSMEs (KRD-UK) based on digital transformation and risk management, which encompasses strengthening the domestic market, automation-based market diversification, and data-driven business performance optimization, to increase the resilience of culinary MSMEs in facing global market dynamics.

Abstract

This journal discusses the classification of PT PLN (Persero) customer data in the context of the tension between personal data protection and public information disclosure, both of which aim to guarantee human rights but can potentially create conflicts of interest in practice. Two research questions are formulated: first, how is PT PLN (Persero) customer data classified based on Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection?; and second, how is the synchronization of norms in determining customer data classification according to the Public Information Disclosure Law and Personal Data Protection Law? The research method used is empirical legal research with statutory and sociological approaches, supported by literature studies and in-depth interviews with relevant parties within PT PLN (Persero). The study concludes that the classification of PT PLN (Persero) customer data cannot be done simplistically but must consider the nature of the data, processing purposes, and potential privacy violation risks. The disharmony between the two laws creates legal uncertainty, requiring the application of necessity and proportionality principles as an important basis for balancing public information disclosure and personal data protection interests in customer data management by state-owned enterprises.

Abstract

This activity aimed to implement the educational game Science Quest 3 Dunia as a science learning medium to enhance students’ learning interest and understanding of science concepts at SDI Ende 14. The participants were students of SDI Ende 14. The activity was conducted at SDI Ende 14, Ende Regency. The method used was game-based learning, which began with preparation and an introduction to science materials, followed by the guided use of the Science Quest 3 Dunia educational game, student assistance during the gameplay process, and discussion and evaluation of learning outcomes. Through the implementation of this educational game, students demonstrated higher enthusiasm and active participation in science learning, as well as improved understanding of the material compared to conventional learning methods.

Abstract

This community service initiative was designed to address digital promotion challenges at Al-Amalul Khair Senior High School through the comprehensive implementation of a redesigned digital brochure. The program adopted a systematic approach encompassing four key phases: coordination and needs assessment, digital brochure implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and scholarly publication. Primary activities included field surveys, brochure design using digital platforms, collaborative content review sessions, and digital distribution of the final materials. The project yielded significant outcomes, including the successful completion of both the brochure redesign and an instructional guide for utilizing digital design platforms. Stakeholder feedback indicated substantial improvements in visual appeal, information clarity, and promotional effectiveness. Teachers appreciated the more organized information presentation, while students found the core promotional message more focused and accessible. International collaboration with Politeknik Merlimau Melaka further enriched the project by providing valuable cross-cultural perspectives on infographic design and color scheme selection. This initiative has not only transformed the school's promotional strategy but also fostered digital capacity development, effectively bridging traditional educational values with contemporary digital marketing requirements while creating sustainable opportunities for advancing digital literacy.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program (PKM) was implemented to enhance the digital marketing capacity of the Woloan Jaya Traditional House Craftsmen Group in Tomohon City, North Sulawesi. The main problem identified was that the marketing activities were still mostly conventional, limiting market reach. This program aimed to support the digital transformation of the business through a participatory approach. The implementation method consisted of: (1) initial situation analysis, (2) development of a product marketing website using the WordPress CMS platform, (3) three training sessions (basic digital marketing, website development and management, marketing management), (4) production of digital promotional content, and (5) ongoing mentoring and monitoring. The results indicate that the website www.woloanjaya.com is active and has begun to be accessed by potential customers. Digital promotional content has been created and utilized as part of the initial campaign, and the partners’ skills in managing social media and website content have improved significantly. The initial impact observed includes increased product visibility online, greater customer interaction through WhatsApp Business, and stronger motivation from partners to utilize digital technology independently. This program is expected to increase sales turnover and expand market reach while contributing to the achievement of university Key Performance Indicators (IKU) through the active involvement of students.

Abstract

Strategi pemasaran digital berbasis konten media sosial menjadi faktor penting dalam meningkatkan daya tarik dan daya saing desa wisata. Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat Desa Wisata Kampung Tudung, Kecamatan Petanahan, Kabupaten Kebumen, dalam memanfaatkan pemasaran digital melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan konten kreatif media sosial. Desa ini memiliki potensi wisata yang belum tergarap secara optimal, sehingga diperlukan strategi pemasaran yang dapat berdampak serta dikenal oleh masyarakat luas. Untuk itu perlu pengembangan potensi desa melalui pemanfaatan pemasaran digital dengan pelatihan serta pendampingan pembuatan konten kreatif di media sosial. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi analisis kebutuhan, pelatihan pemasaran digital, praktik pembuatan konten konten kreatif, pendampingan pembentukan tim konten kreator desa, serta evaluasi hasil. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan digital masyarakat, terbentuknya tim konten kreator desa, serta meningkatnya keaktifan dan kualitas pengelolaan akun media sosial desa dalam mempromosikan potensi lokal. Kegiatan PKM ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model pemberdayaan desa wisata berbasis digital yang berkelanjutan dan replikatif serta dapat berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan ekonomi lokal melalui sektor pariwisata. Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bermitra dengan warga kelurahan Desa Wisata Kampung Tudung, Kecamatan Petanahan, Kabupaten Kebumen. Program Pengembangan Sistem Informasi Desa Tahun 2024 menjadi latar belakang dari keinginan dan tujuan mitra melakukan kegiatan ini. Warga Desa Wisata Kampung Tudung yang tergabung sebagai mitra pengabdian masyarakat terdiri dari Karang Taruna, Kelompok Sadar Wisata, Tim Desa Online, Perangkat Desa, Tenaga Pendidik (Guru), dan Akademisi dari Piksi Ganesha Indonesia Polytechnic (PPGI) Kebumen. Program ini dilaksanakan selama enam bulan (Juni sd November 2024). Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra adalah belum optimalnya potensi desa wisata karena masih kurangnya penyampaian informasi keluar wilayah desa untuk mengundang banyak pengunjung baik pengunjung wisata maupun konsumen produk wisata.
