Abstract

Accountability is a form of accountability carried out by the government as reporting on activities carried out to the public. This accountability is the ground for the implementation of transparency in every implementation of activities. This study aims to assess and determine accountability and transparency in the management of village fund allocations carried out by the village government of Responsibility, Turen District, Malang Regency. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique used was interviews involving the Village Government and village communities, totaling four informants. The results of this study indicate that, starting with accountability and transparency, managing village financial allocations for village infrastructure development under the responsibility as a whole is adequate, but still has some drawbacks. This is demonstrated by the application of the principle of government accountability in managing village fund allocations, in particular by involving the community in planning village fund allocations, but only until the rest of the planning is carried out by the village government without involving village officials in managing village funds. Thus, it is claimed that the implementation of transparency in managing village fund allocations in Responsibility Villages is not good. This is because the government does not apply the principle of transparency, especially by not fully involving the members of the village in managing village funds and by managing village funds in an opaque manner. Therefore it is claimed that the implementation of transparency in accordance with the implementation of the three processes is not good.

Abstract

The status of English as an international language (EIL) has shaped the teaching of English as a second/foreign language (ESL/EFL). In a multicultural and multi linguistic country such as Indonesia, the learning of English has created tensions amongst the people. Therefore, this study aims to investigate how learning English in an English immersion program effect student’s identity as Indonesian learners. The participants of this study were 59 secondary school and 10 teachers at an EIP school in Indonesia. The data were collected through questionnaire, semi-structured interview and field observation. The data from questionnaire was analysed using descriptive statistics and the data from interviews was analysed using thematic analysis. The findings show that there is a significant difference between how the students view their learning and their teacher’s in terms of how it effects their sense of nationalism. The teachers were concerned about the student’s attitude towards Indonesian arts and history claiming that they did not show respect to the local culture. Whereas students seem to dot aware of how their learning experience shape their identity. The study proposes a social and cultural examination of the EIP to complement the discussion about English learning process in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the quality of learning at Bingkeng 01 Public Elementary School over the past five years, which has not been optimal, particularly in relation to the implementation of teachers' professional competence. Teachers' professional competence is considered crucial for ensuring mastery of subject matter and the expected quality of learning. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, this study collected data through interviews, observations, documentation studies, and triangulation. The findings revealed that the implementation of teachers' professional competence has been generally adequate; however, there is room for improvement in teachers' skills and motivation. Challenges in optimizing teachers' professional competence encompass additional responsibilities beyond teaching duties, insufficient support from teachers' professional organizations, and inadequate educational facilities. Efforts to overcome these obstacles involve balancing teachers' additional tasks, motivating support from school principals, involvement in teacher work groups, and providing relevant educational facilities. In conclusion, enhancing the implementation of teachers' professional competence requires a comprehensive strategy involving school principals, professional teacher organizations, and the provision of suitable educational facilities.

Abstract

Poverty is one of the common problems faced by every country in the world, including Indonesia. Governments from various regions in Indonesia are striving to eradicate poverty, particularly in underdeveloped areas. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the poverty rate has increased from 18.87% in 2015 to 24.56% in 2022 in these underdeveloped areas, which consist of 62 regions. By predicting the number of poor people in these regions, the government hopes to take steps to combat poverty. This study employs the Prophet algorithm, which is then integrated into a machine learning model to predict the number of poor people in underdeveloped areas. The data used covers the years 2015 to 2022, and the aim of this research is to assess the accuracy and error rate using the Mean Squared Error (MSE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) parameters. The prediction results indicate an increase in the number of impoverished individuals to 35% in the year 2024, and it is projected to continue rising to 35% in 2027, with an MSE parameter of 2% and an MAPE parameter of 1%.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and find accountability and transparency in the Services for Making Identity Cards, Family Cards and Birth Certificates at the Department of Population and Civil Registry of the local government of Kendari City in a public perspective related to: 1) Program Accountability and 2) Service information transparency. The research location is at the Kendari City Population and Civil Registry Service Office. The subjects and informants of this study were selected according to the criteria of the people who took care of identity cards (KTP), family cards (KK) and birth certificates at the Department of Population and Civil Registry with as many as 30 residents and employees at related agencies. The informants for this study were determined to be 7 people. The technique for determining informants was based on purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used (1) interviews, (2) observation, (3) questionnaires and (4) literature search. Data analysis techniques using descriptive qualitative According to Hamidi in Susanto (2006: 142) qualitative research data analysis was carried out from the beginning going down to the location to collect data, by "installing or saving" information, reducing, grouping and so on until finally giving interpretation. The results of the study show that there is accountability for public services that have been carried out, namely first, program accountability, which is related to the capabilities and skills of employees. second, Public Accountability, namely clarity of information and service standards for identity cards, family cards and birth certificates, especially in terms of the speed and accuracy of transparent information in serving the public. Transparency in public services has dimensions or actual conditions in public services in improving their services to the community. Certainty regarding the details of service costs must be informed to the public.

Abstract

Digital literacy needs to be done by an educator, because it will make it easier to obtain, understand and disseminate information on the learning process. Therefore, this study aims to find out and explain the managerial strategies carried out by school principals in increasing teacher digital literacy. This study uses a qualitative approach with collection techniques through interviews and documentation. The participants in this study were the principal and teachers of SMP Negeri 4 Sekayam. The data that has been collected is then reduced, data is presented, and conclusions are drawn. This study concludes that the managerial strategy of the principal of SMP Negeri 4 Sekayam in increasing teacher digital literacy is: 1) Doing planning by analyzing needs (looking at the state of teachers in digital use, availability of tools, and also the access needed); 2) Providing the facilities needed to increase digital literacy, such as providing tablets, Chromebooks, and providing internet access in the form of Wifi; 3) Involve teachers in organized training, such as training conducted through digital forums such as Zoom Meetings; 4) Evaluate and make improvements in the future.

Abstract

This research focuses on the use of 'Canva for Education' in enhancing digital literacy in the era of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum). Facing challenges in access and utilization of technology in education, this study aims to analyze the extent to which Canva can enhance the engagement and digital literacy of students and teachers. The method employed is qualitative analysis, through in-depth examination of academic literature and relevant case studies. This research emphasizes the secondary data analysis from academic and practical sources to evaluate the effectiveness of Canva. The research findings indicate that the use of 'Canva for Education' has a significant impact on improving digital literacy. Key findings show that Canva spurs active student participation in the learning process and trains essential digital skills for both students and teachers. Case studies at SMA Negeri 1 Bandung and literature analysis confirm that Canva, as an interactive digital tool, assists in enriching teaching methods, making them more engaging and effective. The conclusion of this research highlights the importance of integrating creative technology in education, which not only enhances engagement and digital literacy but also supports the development of innovative and adaptive pedagogical approaches. This research contributes to the development of educational theories that emphasize the importance of technology-based learning in modern education.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of coaching methods in academic supervision on the improvement of teacher performance and educational quality in schools (Location: Al-Kautsar Kindergarten, Kartika XX-46 Kindergarten Kendari, Dian Ekawati Kindergarten, and Setara Kids Kindergarten). Through interviews, direct observations, and document analysis, the research reveals that coaching serves not only as a feedback tool but also fosters deep relationships and encourages effective two-way communication between school principals and teachers. Direct observation results indicate that teachers engaged in coaching show increased motivation, self-confidence, and tangible changes in teaching practices. Document analysis supports these findings by identifying measurable changes in teaching practices through the implementation of strategies acquired through coaching. These findings align with previous research literature that emphasizes the effectiveness of coaching in the professional development of teachers and the enhancement of learning quality. In conclusion, coaching methods in academic supervision are not just strategies but a holistic approach that brings positive and measurable impacts on teacher performance and the achievement of educational goals in schools.

Abstract

Kabupaten Sumedang pada saat ini sedang mengembangkan sektor pariwisatanya, salah satunya yaitu di Kawasan Cisema. Kawasan Cisema memiliki lokasi yang strategis karena berada di pesisir Waduk Jatigede, Pemerintah Kabupaten Sumedang merealisasikan pengembangan kawasan tersebut menjadi ekowisata. Namun, belum adanya data valid mengenai dampak dari pengembangan ekowisata di Kawasan Cisema yang menyebabkan minimnya dukungan dari masyarakat lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji persepsi masyarakat lokal terhadap pengembangan ekowisata di Kawasan Cisema, persepsi ini mencakup mengenai dampak yang dirasakan dan dukungan masyarakat lokal. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi literatur dan penyebaran kuesioner kepada 102 responden yang merupakan masyarakat lokal Kawasan Cisema. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas responden berjenis kelamin perempuan, berusia antara 29-46 tahun, mayoritas merupakan penduduk asli, yang lahir dan periode tinggal di Kawasan Cisema selama 6-10 tahun. Secara keseluruhan, responden memandang pariwisata secara positif dan akan mendukung pengembangan ini, karena mereka menganggap bahwa pengembangan ekowisata di Kawasan Cisema memberikan kontribusi dalam sektor ekonomi, sosial budaya, dan lingkungan di kawasan tersebut. Masyarakat lokal secara umum juga mendukung pengembangan ekowisata di Kawasan Cisema dan bersedia untuk berkontribusi demi mendukung pariwisata berkelanjutan di masa depan.

Abstract

Traffic accidents resulting in fatalities are categorized as serious traffic accidents. The purpose of this study is to analyze the reality of criminal liability in cases of traffic accidents resulting in fatalities where the victim's family and the perpetrator's family agree to settle. This study uses a normative legal research type. This qualitative study uses a legislative approach, conceptual approach, and case approach. The results of the study show that the traffic accident case involving the perpetrator and victim "NA" is classified as a serious traffic accident resulting in fatalities as stipulated in Article 229 paragraph (4) of the UULLAJ. According to the provisions in the UULLAJ, there is no clause that allows serious traffic accident cases to be settled amicably. The provision of material compensation to the heirs of "NA" in the form of medical and/or funeral expenses is an obligation as stipulated in Article 235 paragraph (1) of the UULLAJ without waiving the criminal charges, so the provision of compensation is a form of responsibility that can be taken into consideration as a mitigating factor by the judge in court.
