Abstract

Epilepsy is a chronic brain disorder with various causes characterized by recurrent attacks. Epilepsy can affect all ages, including children, which affects around 40%-50%. Epilepsy can have an impact on memory disorders, either caused by symptoms of epilepsy itself, antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), psychosocial factors, or comorbidities. Patients with epilepsy are generally advised to consume AEDs for more than 3 months. This antiepileptic treatment takes a long time, so it is very susceptible to causing patient non-compliance in taking AEDs. Therefore, this study aims to determine the level of compliance of pediatric epilepsy patients and whether there is a relationship between compliance and the cognitive function of pediatric patients. In this study, 54 respondents were used from the Mataram City Hospital polyclinic. Compliance was measured using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale 8 item (MMAS-8) questionnaire and cognitive function measure using the Indonesian version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-Ina). The result based on the MMAS-8 shows that 7.4% of respondents had high compliance, 61.1% had moderate compliance, and 31.5% had low compliance. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test with α = 0.01 and obtained a significance value (p-value = 0.329). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the level of compliance is moderate, and there is no relationship between compliance and cognitive function.

Abstract

Bougainvillea leaves contain various secondary metabolite compounds, such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. These compounds have the potential to be antibacterial to treat infectious diseases caused by the pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of bougainvillea leaf ethanol extract against the growth of S. aureus bacteria. This study carried out antibacterial activity tests using the agar well-diffusion method. Data analysis used the One-way ANOVA statistical test, with the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Levene homogeneity test. The results of phytochemical tests showed that the ethanol extract of bougainvillea leaves contains flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. In antibacterial tests with concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, the diameter of the inhibition zone obtained ranged from 20-27.3 cm. This inhibition zone is included in the strong to very strong category. In addition, statistical tests showed that each concentration of bougainvillea leaf ethanol extract affected the growth of S. aureus bacteria compared to negative controls. Based on the description above, bougainvillea leaf ethanol extract has the potential to inhibit the growth of S. aureus.

Abstract

Gemitir flowers (Tagetes erecta Linn.) contain secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoids, phenolics, saponins and carotenoids which have the potential as antibacterials that can be used in treating infections caused by pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The purpose of this study was to determine the effective concentration of etanol extract of gemitir flowers and the comparison of antibiotic inhibition with etanol extract of gemitir flowers in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. This study is an experimental study and was analyzed using the One Way ANOVA statistical test. The results showed that gemitir flower extract positively contained secondary metabolites in the form of flavonoids, phenolics and saponins. The antibacterial activity test of etanol extract of gemitir flowers can inhibit S. aureus and E. coli at concentrations of 85%, 90%, 95% and 100% with the diameter of the inhibition zone obtained of 17-31.6 mm which is included in the strong-very strong category. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that the etanol extract of gemitir flowers has the potential to inhibit the growth of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria.

Abstract

Asfiksia neonatorum merupakan salah satu penyebab kurangnya aliran darah atau pertukaran gas ke atau dari janin pada periode segera sebelum, selama atau setelah proses kelahiran. Menurut data World Health Organization (WHO), 28 milyar bayi meninggal setelah 28 hari pertama karena masa itu merupakan masa adaptasi yang dialami oleh bayi untuk menentukan apakah dapat bertahan hidup atau tidak. Salah satu penyebab utamanya adalah asfiksia yang mengakibatkan 11% kematian bayi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pengetahuan ibu hamil tentang asfiksia neonatorum berdasarkan umur, paritas dan pendidikan Ibu. Penelitian ini adalah survey analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional dan dilaksanakan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kolakaasi. Sampel penelitian yang digunakan sebanyak 75 responden dengan instrumen kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil uji statistik dengan uji chi-square, probabilitas lebih kecil α (p < α) (0.001<0.05). Hasil ini secara statistik menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara umur, paritas dan pendidikan Ibu terhadap pengetahuan tentang asfiksia neonatorum. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa umur, paritas, dan pendidikan berpengaruh terhadap pengetahuan Ibu hamil tentang asfiksia neonatorum.

Abstract

Febrile seizures are the most common neurological disorder in children, with 1 in 25 children having one febrile seizure. Febrile convulsions are seizures that occur when the body temperature rises (rectal temperature over 38°C) due to an extracranial process. Febrile seizures can result in behavioral disturbances as well as decreased intelligence and academic achievement. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that the number of children who experience febrile seizures in the world is more than 21.65 million and more than 216 thousand children die. Therefore, it is important that mothers know about seizures. This study aims to determine the factors that influence maternal knowledge about seizures based on age, parity and maternal education. This research is an analytic survey with a cross sectional approach. This study was conducted in the working area of Puskesmas Kolaka. The research sample was 82 respondents where the instrument used was a questionnaire. The results of the study there is an influence between age and maternal knowledge about seizures p=0.015, parity with maternal knowledge about seizures p=0.003, education with maternal knowledge about seizures p=0.025. Conclusion. there is an influence between age, parity and maternal education about seizures. Suggestions to improve mothers' knowledge about seizures by providing education and promotion about handling toddlers who experience febrile seizures.

Abstract

Anemia megaloblastik merupakan anemia yang ditandai dengan membesarnya eritroblast di sumsum tulang sehingga menganggu pematangan inti sel dan pembelahan sel eritrosit. Kelainan utamanya disebabakan karena defisiensi vitamin B-12 dan asam folat sehingga sintesis DNA terganggu. Diagnosis anemia megaloblastik dilakukan melalui anamnesis, pemeriksaan fisik, dan pemeriksaan penunjang. Pengobatannya dilakukan berdasarkan etiologi yang mendasari. Semakin cepat didiagnosis, prognosisnya akan semakin baik. Penting untuk mengenali, mencegah, dan mengobati anemia megaloblastik.

Abstract

Health and safety at work at PT Santosa Utama Lestari needs to be improved in order to provide a sense of comfort for workers, both directly and indirectly, in some parts or the possibility of having dangerous risk factors due to exposure, temperature and humidity, this is caused by industries that are active with the use of production machines in the corn drying industrial activities of PT. Santosa Utama Lestari Bima Unit. This study aims to analyze the effect of exposure to blood, temperature and humidity on the pressure of employees at PT. Santosa Utama Lestari Bima Unit. This research uses descriptive qualitative data analysis method. Based on the results of this study, the results of the effect of the intensity of the intensity, temperature and humidity at work on systolic blood pressure can be seen the coefficient of determination of the R Square value of 0.166 which implies that the influence of the independent variables (noise, temperature and air) simultaneously on the variables (blood pressure) systolic) was 16.6% percent. While the remaining 80.4% is influenced by factors outside the variables of this study. While the diastolic pressure can be seen the coefficient of determination R Square value of 0.246 which implies that the effect of the independent variables, temperature and humidity simultaneously on the variable (Dystolic pressure) is 0.61%, while the remaining 93.9% is influenced by other factors. outside of this research.

Abstract

People in Dompu Regency West Nusa Tenggara have always used traditional face mask products, namely masks lo'i monca which protect facial skin from the sun when they are active all day outdoors. Dompu traditional masks (lo'i monca) are made from rice, tamarind shoots, bangle, curcuma, temugiring, and galangal. The purpose of this study was to determine the chemical quality of facial masks in lo'i monca terms of pH, water content and antioxidants. This type of research is a type of laboratory experimental research. Based on the results of laboratory tests, the average pH value obtained by the face mask powder preparation lo'i monca is 7.08. In testing the water content, the average value of the powder mask preparation lo'i monca was 13.3%. The results of the IC50 antioxidant activity test for powder mask preparations lo'i monca were 14.47 ppm. The results of laboratory tests that meet the requirements are pH levels because the pH value is in the range of 4.5-8.0, while the results on the water content do not meet the SNI requirements because the water content value is more than 10%, and the results of the antioxidant activity test the IC50 value of mask preparations.powder is lo'i monca classified as a very strong antioxidant because it is at an IC50 value of less than 50 ppm.

Abstract

Buah paprika merah (Capsicum annuum L.) mengandung diantaranya adalah vitamin E, vitamin C, karotenoid, dan kapsaisinoid yang dapat digunakan sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak metanol dan fraksi n-heksan-etil asetat buah paprika merah. Buah paprika merah segar diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut metanol teknis kemudian difraksinasi secara bertingkat menggunakan pelarut n-heksan-dietil eter, hasil fraksi tidak larut n-heksan-dietil eter kemudian difraksinasi kembali menggunakan pelarut n-heksan-etil asetat. Fraksi n-heksan-etil asetat diuji secara kualitatif terhadap senyawa karotenoid yaitu β-karoten dengan uji KLT menggunakan fase diam silika gel F254 dan fase gerak metanol: aseton (1:1). Uji kuantitatif aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode penangkapan radikal DPPH dengan parameter nilai IC50. Nilai IC50 selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 20. Hasil uji kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak metanol dan fraksi n-heksan-etil asetat mengandung senyawa β-karoten. Aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak metanol, fraksi n-heksan-etil asetat, dan standar β-karoten memiliki nilai IC50 berturut-turut sebesar 307,91, 281,69, dan 81,26 μg/mL. Berdasarkan hasil statistik, nilai IC50 fraksi n-heksan-etil asetat lebih kecil signifikan apabila dibandingkan dengan ekstrak metanol buah paprika merah. Namun lebih besar apabila dibandingkan dengan standar β-karoten. Fraksi n-heksan-etil asetat memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang lebih poten apabila dibandingkan dengan ekstrak metanol buah paprika merah. Namun kurang poten apabila dibandingkan dengan standar β-karoten.

Abstract

The leaves and fruit of soursop or Annona muracita have been used extensively as medicinal plants by people in various ethnic groups in Indonesia. Soursop leaves and fruit are believed to prevent and treat diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. Various scientific studies have proven the potential activity of soursop leaves and fruit to have antidiabetic, antioxidant, antiobesity, cytotoxic, anticancer, antihypertensive, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, and hepatoprotective effects. Based on literature studies related to phytochemicals sourced from Scopus, Science direct, PubMed, ProQuest reports that at least 54 secondary metabolites have been isolated and identified. These compounds include a group of alkaloids, phenols, and acetogenins. This article presents a brief overview that seeks to compile all information regarding the phytochemistry, ethnopharmacology, and bioactivity of soursop leaves and fruit.
