Abstract

Based on the Health Profile Report of Central Kalimantan in 2020, there were 74,405 cases of diabetes mellitus (DM). Barito Selatan Regency ranked fifth highest with 6,301 DM cases. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia, attributed to insufficient pancreatic insulin production or ineffective insulin utilization in the body. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between dietary patterns, age, and gender with the occurrence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT2) in the Working Area of Buntok Community Health Center. This research employed an observational analytical study using a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was conducted using simple random sampling, involving 107 samples. Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The majority of respondents were female (51.4%), with the highest age group being over 45 years old (69.2%). 50.5% exhibited poor dietary patterns, and 62.6% were non-DMT2 respondents. Bivariate analysis revealed respective p-values of 0.021, 0.010, and 0.000 for age, gender, and dietary patterns concerning DMT2 occurrence. The study concludes a significant association between age, gender, dietary patterns, and the incidence of DMT2 in the Buntok Community Health Center's Working Area.

Abstract

Anemia is a non-communicable disease that is one of the main causes of insufficient iron reserves or a component that forms red blood cells or hemoglobin (Hb). One factor suspected to influence anemia is the duration of menstruation. This study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of menstruation and hemoglobin levels in female students of the Faculty of Medicine at Palangka Raya University from the 2020, 2021, and 2022 cohorts in the year 2023. The study was conducted on 74 female students selected through random sampling. Menstrual duration data were collected online in the form of a Google Form, and Hb level data were obtained directly from the Hb Test Meter MHD-1. This research is an Analytical Observational study with a Cross-Sectional approach that will be analyzed using the Spearman test. Respondents were aged 18-22 years, and out of 74 respondents, 72 respondents (97.3%) had a normal menstrual duration, while 2 respondents (2.7%) had an abnormal menstrual duration. In the examination of Hb levels, 46 respondents (62.2%) did not have anemia, while 28 respondents (37.8%) had anemia. Based on the results of the Spearman test, a p-value of 0.724 (p>0.05) was obtained, indicating that the hypothesis is rejected, and there is no relationship between the duration of menstruation and hemoglobin levels.

Abstract

Over time, there is a decrease in body resistance in a number of individuals, leading to the emergence of health problems. A common phenomenon observed is hypertension, which is often referred to as "the silent killer". Prehypertension is a person's blood pressure above the normal range but has not reached the degree of hypertension. One factor that is thought to increase the risk of hypertension is coffee consumption. Coffee contains caffeine which is a stimulant substance that can increase alertness, speed up heart rate, and increase blood pressure. This study aims to determine the coffee consumption habits of FK UPR preclinical students, determine the blood pressure of FK UPR preclinical students and classify individuals as prehypertensive and non-prehypertensive, analyze the relationship between coffee consumption habits and the incidence of prehypertension. Observational research method with cross-sectional research design. The sample was obtained using Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling with a sample number of 81 respondents. The statistical analysis used in this study was the chi-square test. The results showed that of the 81 respondents, the majority had the habit of drinking coffee, were experiencing prehypertension (120-139 mmHg / 80-89 mmHg). Based on the results of the chi-square statistical test conducted in this study, p-value = 0.033 (p<0.05) was obtained which stated that there was a relationship between coffee consumption habits and the incidence of prehypertension in preklink students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Palangka Raya.
