Abstract

Increasing population and rapid development of built-up land can cause an increase in land surface temperature. These changes are often associated with many factors, including changes in land use, and surface parameters, economic development, and vegetation. This research aims to analyze the temperature factor as an indicator of indoor thermal comfort to support the learning process in schools in the Banten Province area. This research uses a spatial temporal approach with descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the results, show that the land surface temperature at each school location in Banten province shows conditions that are not constant. The number of schools with uncomfortable conditions varies from 2019 (89.07%), 2020 (42.65%), 2021 (45.66%), 2022 (82.66%), and 2023 (52.44%). This shows that there has been a decrease in uncomfortable conditions for studying by 36.63% in the last 5 years.

Abstract

Environmental ethics is an important issue in the context of sustainability and environmental protection. This research aims to discuss Islamic, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and Confucian religious perspectives regarding environmental ethics and its importance in the context of sustainability. This research method uses literature study and analysis of sacred texts and religious teachings according to religious perspective. This research found that each religion has different views, but emphasizes the same important aspect of protecting and caring for the environment as the moral responsibility of religious communities. The concept of stewardship is emphasized considering the role of humans as managers and protectors of the universe. Environmental ethics in this religious perspective has similarities in teaching the importance of protecting and caring for the natural environment. This view can be the basis for individuals and communities to develop awareness and responsibility for environmental sustainability. Understanding and practicing religious-based environmental ethics is very relevant to overcoming the environmental challenges facing humanity in this century.

Abstract

Environmental damage is a problem that is always faced in urban areas including Kendari city, including the physical, social, and biological environment. Areas with crowded settlements are always a concern for the level of environmental damage. This research aims to determine the local knowledge of the community of Kampung Salo in protecting the environment. This type of research is qualitative research using interactive analysis. The data analysis technique uses interactive analysis which consists of four stages of the analysis model, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research results show that only 21.9% of the community of Kampung Salo understands the importance of protecting the environment. The main factor in the lack of understanding of the Kampung Salo community in protecting the environment is the lack of education and lack of public awareness. Thus, intensive action from the government is necessary to help sensitize the community in protecting the environment.

Abstract

Traffic accidents often result in death and serious injury. This high number of deaths and injuries requires immediate action to reduce the negative impact. This study aims to identify and map the location of traffic black sites in the districts of Konda and Wolasi. This research was conducted on the main road in the South Konawe regency which had an accident on the Konda-Wolasi route. The research method used to determine accident-prone locations is the Z-Score method, while to find accident-prone maps, spatial analysis is used using geographic information systems through field surveys and plotting coordinates by GPS. In the Konda sub-district, 4 villages are accident-prone points, namely Ambololi, Lambusa, Puuosu Jaya, and Tanea villages, while in the Wolasi sub-district, there are Wolasi, Mata Wolasi, Amoito, and Leleka sub-district. Each accident-prone point caused damaged roads, narrow roads, bends, and intersections.

Abstract

The mendong plant is one of the plants that is widely cultivated by people in Blayu Village, Wajak District. However, the number of farmers cultivating mendong plants is decreasing, so the agricultural land for mendong plants is starting to decrease. This research aims to: 1) analyze changes in land use for mendong crop farming in Blayu Village; and 2) know the factors that cause changes in agricultural land use for mendong crops. This research uses a descriptive survey method by collecting several samples in the form of people through questions. Google Earth was used to analyze changes in the use of agricultural land for mendong crops in Blayu Village from 2010 to 2024. Based on the results of the analysis of changes in agricultural land use for mendong crops in Blayu Village in 2010-2024, an increase in changes in the area of mendong crops was obtained by 26.45 ha or 91.4 %. Meanwhile, the factors causing changes in the use of agricultural land for mendong plants in Blayu Village are economic factors, labor, mendong craftsmen, and the availability of mendong plant drying equipment.

Abstract

Poncokusumo District is a hilly area with steep to very steep slopes. These conditions contribute to a very high landslide potential in Poncokusumo District, making it crucial to conduct further studies on landslide hazard mapping to reduce landslide disaster risk. This research employs a quantitative approach using scoring and Weighted Overlay methods. The study analyzes landslide susceptibility using the Weighted Overlay method. This study analyzes landslide vulnerability using overlay techniques from several maps related to factors affecting vulnerability assessments. The analysis was carried out by combining data on rainfall, slope gradient, soil type, and land use. Based on the analysis results, it was found that the landslide susceptibility level in Poncokusumo District ranges from moderate to very high with an area reaching 22,135.84 hectares. This is primarily due to the steep to very steep slopes.

Abstract

Climate change has caused shifts in the distribution of rainfall and drought. This research aims to analyze the impact of climate change on water availability based on several research results that have been carried out. This research uses the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis) method along with VosViewer for bibliometric analysis. Data sourced from Publish or Perish and Google Scholar in 2015–2024 totaling 500 journals. Data was reduced using inclusion and exclusion criteria so that 40 journals were obtained to be reviewed and 10 journals with the highest citations to be discussed. Climate change has a significant impact on the availability of air on Earth. Rising earth temperatures can cause river water to become less abundant and air quality to become worse, which in turn can affect human life and biota that depend on the air. This research will have implications for efforts to deal with climate change as part of the influence on the availability of clean water.

Abstract

The existence of small industries has a significant influence on the economic development of a country. This research was conducted to analyze the income of woven sarong craftsmen and the feasibility of the woven sarong business in Katukobari Village, Central Buton Regency. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach where data was obtained through observation and interviews, then analyzed using the income calculation method, Net R/C Ratio, and Break Event Point (BEP). The research results show that the average production of craftsmen reaches 3 units with a selling price per unit of Rp. 176,900, wich results in total receipts of Rp. 531,000. After deducting the total cost of Rp. 336,873, the net income obtained was Rp. 192,924. The R/C Ratio is 1.5 and the production BEP is 1.90 and the price BEP is Rp. 112,291 shows that the woven sarong business in Katukobari Village is financially feasible to develop. In conclusion, this business has good prospects for further development in the area.

Abstract

Urbanization is supposed to follow a guided land use plan. However, in most of the towns in Kenya, Meru municipality included, this has not been the case. This can be linked to violation of land use plan regulations. This study evaluated the land use zones' compliance level with integrated land use plans in Meru municipality. The study sought to establish the level of compliance of various urban land use zones to the integrated Land use plan of Meru municipality. A sample of 389 residents from a population of 88,871 was selected using Krejcie & Morgan (1970) formulae. Questionnaires, interviews, remote sensing, and observations were used to collect data from developers and key informants. The study found that the average compliance levels of the five land zones were as follows: recreational/ Conservation zone (83.3%), commercial (75.8%), agricultural (52.8%), residential (50.1%), and compliance of industrial zone 44.8%. The study therefore recommended the following: land use plan implementation needs close monitoring; planning officials in Meru municipality need capacity building on evaluation and follow-up on land use plans.
