Abstract

The development of religious character and integrity is a crucial necessity in vocational schools, as students are prepared to enter the workforce where discipline, ethics, and high responsibility are essential. SMK Bina Sejahtera 3 Kota Bogor was selected as the research site because it is a school with a large student population, a strong religious culture, and a well-established, structured, and continuous student management system, making it highly relevant as a case study. This study aims to describe the implementation of character-based student management in fostering a religious culture and student integrity. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that student management is carried out in an integrated manner through planning, implementation, and supervision. Religious habituation programs such as morning Quran recitation, congregational prayers, and daily sermons strengthen students’ spiritual discipline, while the point-based violation system, case conference, and application-based attendance monitoring cultivate responsibility and self-control. Extracurricular activities such as Scouts, Islamic student organizations, and social-religious programs develop leadership, cooperation, and empathy. These findings affirm that character-based student management effectively builds a school culture that is religious, disciplined, and integrity-driven.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the concept of the "Dichotomy of Control" in Stoicism through a comparative study of Henry Manampiring's thoughts in the book "Filosofi Teras" and Fahruddin Faiz's thoughts via the "Ngaji Filsafat" channel. The increasing phenomenon of anxiety disorders in the modern era has made Stoicism a popular alternative for emotional management in Indonesia. However, the application of this secular philosophy in Muslim society requires a theological review. This study employs a qualitative method with library research. The results indicate that Manampiring positions the Dichotomy of Control as a horizontal-rational emotional management tool to achieve ataraxia (mental resilience). Meanwhile, Fahruddin Faiz spiritualizes the concept by integrating it into Sufism values, where the dichotomy of control is seen as a synchronization between Ikhtiar (effort) and Tawakkal (trust in God) to achieve tuma’ninah (inner peace). This research formulates a "Theological Dichotomy of Control" model as a synthesis that unites Western rationality with Islamic spirituality, providing a foundation for Muslim society to face modern life dynamics while remaining grounded in the concepts of Qada and Qadar.

Abstract

Amid the challenges of modern development and moral degradation in the contemporary era, character education within the Islamic family has become an essential foundation for shaping a generation with noble morals and virtuous character. This study aims to examine character education within Muslim families in the 21st century based on the teachings of Surah Al-Isra’ verses 23–24. This research uses a qualitative method with a library study approach and thematic tafsir analysis of relevant Qur’anic verses. The results show that Surah Al-Isra’ verses 23–24 contain essential character education values, namely the instillation of tauhid (the oneness of Allah) and birrul walidain (filial piety). These values include prohibitions against associating partners with Allah, encouragement to do good to both parents, prohibitions against speaking harshly or scolding them, encouragement to speak gently, to be humble toward parents, and to pray for them. The implementation of Qur’anic values in family education in the modern era helps shape children with noble character, excellent personality, and constant devotion to their parents. These findings confirm that the principles of Islamic character education, rooted in the Qur’an, remain relevant in the 21st century and can serve as a strategic foundation for shaping a generation of insan kamil (well-rounded individuals) both physically and spiritually.

Abstract

Arabic is the primary language in Islamic teachings, serving as a means to understand the Qur’an, hadith, and various Islamic scholarly sources. However, teaching Arabic in remote areas still faces numerous challenges, particularly the lack of appropriate teaching methods for children and the limited introduction of Arabic vocabulary from an early age. This situation also occurs in Kampung Dabatan, South Misool District, where children generally learn to recite the Qur’an at home without being taught Arabic vocabulary. Consequently, the children had no basic knowledge of Arabic vocabulary before the learning program was implemented. This study aims to describe the innovation of teaching Arabic vocabulary through the singing method conducted at Nurul Rohmah Mosque. This research employs a qualitative method with a fenomenologis. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed narratively. The results indicate that the singing method, supported by audio and visual media, can improve Arabic vocabulary mastery, enhance pronunciation, and foster motivation and enthusiasm for learning among children. Therefore, the singing method can be an effective and relevant alternative for teaching Arabic vocabulary in communities that have never received systematic Arabic instruction.

Abstract

Character education plays an important role in shaping children's personalities amid the rapid development of digital media. Not all media content, especially animated films, contains educational values; some even present negative behaviors that may be imitated by children. Therefore, alternative media that is both entertaining and educational is needed, such as the animated film KABI: Kisah Teladan Nabi, which contains Islamic values. The purpose of this study is to identify the character education values in the KABI animated film and to analyze their relevance to Islamic education. A qualitative approach was employed using library research and content analysis methods. The data were obtained from selected episodes of the KABI animated film and analyzed through documentation techniques. The results show that the film contains twelve character education values, namely religiosity, reading interest, social awareness, curiosity, hard work, responsibility, honesty, environmental awareness, tolerance, discipline, independence, and appreciation of achievement. These values are relevant to Islamic education, encompassing aspects of aqidah, sharia, and akhlaq. Thus, the KABI animated film can serve as an educational medium for instilling Islamic character values in children.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the social interaction patterns of teenagers, but on the other hand, it has also given rise to various social issues that impact the character and morals of the younger generation. This research aims to analyze the role of Islamic education in addressing the social issues of teenagers in the digital era and to formulate an Islamic education concept relevant to character building. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of library research. Data were obtained through a study of various literature sources, such as books, scientific journal articles, previous research findings, and academic documents relevant to the research theme. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques to identify concepts, theories, and findings related to Islamic education and social diseases among adolescents. The research results show that the forms of social diseases most experienced by teenagers in the digital era include cyberbullying, gadget addiction, moral decline, deviant behavior, and exposure to negative content. Islamic education plays a strategic role in addressing these issues thru the internalization of moral values, strengthening spirituality, setting examples, habituating positive behavior, and supervision from the family and school environment. This research concludes that integrative, adaptive Islamic education based on spiritual values and digital ethics can serve as a preventive and curative solution in shaping the character of teenagers in the digital era.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the implementation of formative evaluation in the learning process at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Sumenep as an effort to improve the quality of student-centered learning. Formative evaluation is an important part of assessment for learning because it helps teachers monitor students’ understanding continuously throughout the learning process. This study aimed to describe the planning, implementation, and follow-up of formative evaluation in learning activities at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Sumenep. The research employed a qualitative approach with data collection techniques consisting of in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation of teaching materials. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while validity was ensured through technique triangulation and member checking. The findings showed that teachers had implemented formative evaluation systematically through oral questioning, group discussions, short quizzes, assignments, and observation of students’ activities. The evaluation results were utilized as learning feedback to improve instructional strategies, conduct remedial and enrichment activities, and increase student engagement in the learning process. Although several obstacles were identified, including limited instructional time, large class sizes, and diverse student characteristics, formative evaluation proved to contribute positively to learning effectiveness and students’ understanding. The findings indicate that formative evaluation supports adaptive, responsive, and student-centered learning in the context of madrasah aliyah education.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological development, digital literacy has become a key competency for educators, including Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) teachers. This study, titled "Teacher Digital Literacy and Future Education: A Phenomenological Study of Teachers at MTs Mambaul Ihsan Larangan Perreng Pragaan Sumenep," aims to explore the understanding, experiences, and challenges faced by teachers in developing digital literacy and their implications for future educational readiness. Although the government has launched various programs to improve teachers' digital competencies, the reality on the ground shows that obstacles persist, such as limited technological facilities, a lack of ongoing training, and disparities in access between regions. This study uses a phenomenological approach to explore the meaning of teachers' experiences in adapting to digital-based learning. This problem analyzes the perceptions of MTs Mambaul Ihsan teachers towards digital literacy and its relation to future educational challenges; describes the teachers' experiences in implementing digital literacy in learning; and examines the planning and strategies for developing digital literacy carried out by teachers. The results indicate that there are two groups of teachers: those who have been able to utilize technology creatively and effectively in their learning, and those who still face structural and technical barriers in implementing digital literacy. Furthermore, a dynamic emerged between the use of technology and efforts to maintain religious values ??in the learning process. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of improving contextual digital literacy training, strengthening infrastructure support, and developing policies that encourage the integration of technology with Islamic educational values. Thus, teachers' digital literacy is expected to become a key foundation for building adaptive, innovative, and character-based education in the future.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of Qur’anic literacy among Indonesian Muslims and the importance of implementing learning methods that are appropriate to students’ developmental stages in Qur’anic education. The study aims to describe al-Ghazali’s concept of gradual learning methods and their implementation at TPQ al-Huda Dukuhturi Tegal. This research employed a qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving foundation administrators, TPQ principals, teachers, students, and alumni of TPQ al-Huda. The findings reveal that al-Ghazali’s gradual learning method is implemented through sequential material delivery from simple to complex concepts, from concrete to abstract understanding, and adjusted to students’ abilities and psychological development. The implementation is reflected in the use of classical-individual learning systems, staged Tilawati learning, memorization habituation, gradual reading exercises, and continuous evaluation. In addition, teachers play an active role in adapting instructional methods to the characteristics of learners, making the learning process more effective and easier to understand. The study concludes that the implementation of al-Ghazali’s gradual learning method at TPQ al-Huda successfully improves students’ ability to read the Qur’an fluently, correctly, and progressively according to their developmental stages.

Abstract

Wayang art is one of the cultural heritages of the Indonesian archipelago that remains highly popular in various regions of Indonesia. In the Tegalan area, people are more familiar with and frequently use wayang santri rather than traditional shadow puppetry (wayang kulit), although both contain profound moral values, cultural messages, and meanings of life. This study aims to analyze the linguistic and religious values contained in wayang kulit performances as a medium of Islamic preaching within the Tegalan community. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with cultural and religious approaches. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving artists and local community members. The results show that wayang performances contain linguistic values in the form of symbols, expressions, and moral messages that are easily understood by society. In addition, the religious values embedded in the performances function as a medium of da’wah that encourages people to follow Islamic teachings and apply good morals in daily life. Although the Tegalan community more commonly uses wayang santri in events such as celebrations and Islamic religious commemorations, the educational and religious values in wayang performances still play an important role in character building and cultural preservation. Therefore, society can adopt the positive lessons and values contained in the performances as guidance for a better and more virtuous life.
