Jurnal Medika Farmaka (JMF) adalah jurnal ilmiah di bidang kefarmasian yang dikelola oleh program studi D-3 Farmasi STIKes Karsa Husada Garut di bawah naungan LP4M STIKes Karsa Husada Garut. Abstract

Pendahuluan: Mikroenkapsulasi merupakan teknik pelapisan zat aktif menggunakan agen penyalut, umumnya senyawa polimer, yang berfungsi menjaga stabilitas dan mengontrol pelepasan zat aktif. Bahan penyalut memegang peranan penting karena memengaruhi ukuran dan kestabilan mikrokapsul. Mikroenkapsulasi banyak diterapkan pada bahan alam untuk meningkatkan stabilitas dan memperpanjang umur simpan zat aktif. Metode pembuatan mikroenkapsulasi terbagi menjadi proses kimia, fisika-kimia, dan fisika. Metode: Tinjauan pustaka dilakukan melalui pencarian jurnal di database elektronik seperti Google Scholar, menggunakan kata kunci: “Bahan Alam”, “Mikroenkapsulasi”, dan “Sediaan Padat”. Kriteria inklusi meliputi artikel hasil uji klinis, tinjauan literatur, dan tinjauan sistematis dari jurnal nasional maupun internasional ber-ISSN. Artikel non-relevan, laporan kasus, dan opini ahli dikecualikan. Hasil: Hasil menunjukkan bahwa metode spray drying paling banyak digunakan karena efektif dalam menjaga stabilitas bahan alam dan menghasilkan mikrokapsul berukuran seragam. Kesimpulan: Spray drying menjadi metode mikroenkapsulasi yang dominan untuk bahan alam karena kemudahan, efisiensi, dan kemampuannya dalam meningkatkan kestabilan zat aktif dalam sediaan padat.

Abstract

Introduction: Introduction: This study aims to examine natural materials that can be formulated into coated solid preparations in the pharmaceutical world. Coated solid preparations have various benefits, including increasing the stability of active substances, protecting materials from the external environment such as light, heat, oxygen, and covering unpleasant tastes. Methods: This study was conducted through a literature search using the Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and ResearchGate databases, with inclusion criteria in the form of research journals on natural materials made into coated solid preparations. Results: The study shows that natural materials such as plant extracts, probiotics, aromatic resins, fish oil, and oleoresins can be formulated into several forms of coated solid preparations, including film-coated tablets, film-coated tablets, encapsulates, microcapsules, and microparticles (pellets). Commonly used coating materials include HPMC (Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose), PVA (Polyvinyl alcohol), opadry AMB, maltodextrin, and kollicoat protect. Some examples of natural ingredients that have been applied are pomegranate peel extract as an antimalarial, gambir leaf extract as an antidyslipidemia, and probiotics from fermented snake fruit. Conclusion: the formulation of solid preparations coated with natural ingredients provides significant benefits in increasing the effectiveness and stability of pharmaceutical preparations, while utilizing natural ingredients that have biological activity. This study is expected to be a reference in the development of pharmaceutical preparations based on natural ingredients.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Logam berat seperti timbal (Pb), kadmium (Cd), dan merkuri (Hg) merupakan kontaminan toksik yang sering ditemukan dalam bahan pangan, terutama hasil perairan dan olahan industri. Logam-logam ini bersifat non-biodegradable dan dapat terakumulasi dalam tubuh manusia, sehingga menimbulkan risiko kesehatan seperti kerusakan ginjal, gangguan sistem saraf, hingga kanker.Metode: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji metode kualitatif berbasis perubahan warna dan pembentukan endapan dalam mendeteksi keberadaan logam berat dan boraks pada berbagai produk pangan. Metode yang digunakan adalah telaah pustaka terhadap 10 studi yang menggunakan reagen kimia seperti difenilkarbazid, kalium iodida, dimetilglioksim, dan kertas kurkumin untuk mengidentifikasi logam berdasarkan perubahan warna khas yang muncul selama reaksi. Hasil: Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa metode kualitatif memberikan hasil yang cepat dan efektif untuk deteksi awal, dengan reaksi warna seperti ungu (Pb), merah muda (Cd), dan oranye-merah (Hg). Kesimpulan: Metode ini praktis dan ekonomis, namun memiliki keterbatasan sensitivitas. Oleh karena itu, disarankan sebagai skrining awal yang perlu divalidasi melalui analisis kuantitatif lanjutan seperti SSA. Reagen lokal seperti kunyit juga menjanjikan untuk pengujian langsung di lapangan.

Abstract

Introduction: This study examines the role of pharmacotherapy in immune system diseases and cancer, highlighting the potential of natural compounds as anticancer agents. This study reviews various studies using in silico, in vitro, and in vivo approaches to activate the anticancer activity of various plant extracts and bioactive compounds. Method: This article review uses references obtained from database searches with online search instruments published nationally and internationally. Result: The results of the analysis showed that natural compounds contribute to the inhibition of cancer cell growth through apoptosis mechanisms, antioxidant activity, and reduction of inflammation. Various molecular pathways such as HER2, survivin, EGFR, Nrf2-Keap1, and PI3K/AKT/mTOR are the main targets in the development of natural compound-based therapies. The evidence collected shows that natural compounds have great potential as safer and more effective innovative cancer therapies. Conclusion: 13 plants were found to have the potential as anticancer agents in breast cancer therapy, with mechanisms of action including apoptosis induction, inhibition of cancer cell proliferation, modulation of the immune system, and regulation of molecular signaling pathways.

Abstract

Introduction: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the joints, which can lead to cartilage damage and disability. Not all standard medications for RA therapy are efficient for all patients and long-term use can cause serious side effects. Therefore, it is necessary to develop drugs for RA involving various approaches, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological. Method: This article review is based on references to several articles from online databases published nationally and internationally. Result: From the article search, there were 10 articles discussing RA drug development from various approaches. Conclusion: Based on the review of articles carried out, there is drug development using a pharmacological approach including the use of natural ingredients such as purslane tea, red betel leaf extract, secang plants and curcumin, nanotechnology-based innovations such as composite hydrogel and MTX nanocarriers, a drug repurposing approach to the discovery of new drugs alpha-linolenic acid and Belatacept as well as non-pharmacological approaches with complementary therapies such as red ginger and warm betel compresses. Abstract

Introduction: HIV is a retrovirus that attacks the immune system and can develop into AIDS if not treated. Drug resistance and therapy limitations are major challenges. The genus Croton (Euphorbiaceae) has potential as a source of anti-HIV compounds, with species such as C. megalocarpus, C. dichogamus, and C. oligandrus capable of inhibiting reverse transcriptase and reactivating latent viruses. Methods: This narrative review, analyzes the literature from 2020–2024. Results: Studies show that bioactive compounds from Croton, particularly diterpenoids and flavonoids, have anti-HIV activity through the inhibition of reverse transcriptase and reactivation of latent viruses. Conclusion: The genus Croton has the potential to be a new source of anti-HIV drugs. With the increasing drug resistance, the development of bioactive compounds from Croton could become a promising therapeutic alternative.Keywords: Croton, anti-VIV, natural compound

Abstract

Introduction: The PDGFR-α (platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha) receptor is one of the protein receptors implicated in the development of lung cancer by regulating proliferation, angiogenesis, and migration of cancer cells. The utilization of synthetic drugs in the treatment of cancer frequently results in the targeting of normal cells, which can lead to adverse effects in patients. Consequently, there is an imperative to engineer anticancer compounds derived from natural ingredients that exhibit a reduced incidence of adverse effects in comparison to synthetic drugs. In this study, the compounds present in noni fruit were utilized. The following section delineates the methods employed in this study. This study was conducted using a molecular docking method to identify the lowest docking score between the four most abundant compounds found in noni fruit and Gemcitabin, a positive control, against the PDGFR-α receptor. Method: This study was conducted using a molecular docking method, with the lowest docking score between the four most abundant compounds contained in noni fruit and Gemcitabin, a positive control, against the PDGFR-α receptor being of particular interest. Result: Subsequent to molecular docking, the compound demonstrating the optimal interaction among its counterparts is Nordamnacanthal, exhibiting a docking score of -6.49. This is followed by Morindone, α-Pinene, Gemcitabine, and L-Scopoletin, which demonstrate docking scores of -5.01, -4.83, -4.77, and -4.66, respectively. Conclusion: Nordamnacanthal compound exhibits a lower docking score in comparison to gemcitabine, a synthetic drug that is currently employed in the treatment of lung cancer. This finding suggests that Nordamnacanthal may be a promising candidate for anti-lung cancer drugs derived from natural compounds.
