Abstract

Climate change is a global issues including in Indonesia. The agricultural sector is the most potential suffered by climate change. This research wants to identify the determinants that influence the supply of agricultural insurance products. The focus of this research complements the analysis of the insurance market, especially from the supply side. A quantitative method was choosen to analyze the primary data. We obtained the data by interviews with respondents who understand the problems of the insurance market. After the data collected and verified, we analysed the data using Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) and External Factor Evaluation (EFE), as well as SWOT analysis and QSPM analysis. The results show that insurance companies must have excellence in mastering information technology, qualified human resources, and always willing to adapt to new challenges.

Abstract

Several sustainable farming practices have been introduced and have shown a low farmer participation. This paper scrutinizes factors behind the poor adoption of sustainable upland agriculture by engaging the DPSIR in combination with the framework of Capacity-Incentive and Environmental Degradation. This paper employed a simple random sampling method by applying a questionnaire to 408 farmers. We used multiple linear regression analysis to know the linkage between the predictor and the dependent variable. The resulted R-Square was 0.649, with the F statistic less than 0.05. The regression model can explain the linkage between the proposed predictors and the dependent variable. Governmental incentive is the significant predictor affecting the adoption of sustainable upland agriculture. Ensuring the profitability of it by facilitating market channels, credit, and allocating subsidies for organic input are critical. Building human capital in agriculture through services is also critical in strengthening the upland farmers’ confidence to adopt sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

The world's response to the Covid-19 pandemic would impact the target of achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals SDGs) in 2030. When the world needed to accelerate the achievement of SDGs targets, the Covid-19 pandemic brought global uncertainty. This study discussed several lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact of the pandemic in accelerating the achievement of the 17 SDGs targets. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with bibliometric and descriptive evaluative analysis methods. The study results revealed that although it caused a global economic contraction and various health problems, the Covid-19 pandemic should be used as a momentum to evaluate and make necessary improvements in achieving the SDGs in 2030. Based on this study, all SDGs goals have an integrated nature, so that progress towards one SDG goal would affect the other goals. Therefore, global collaborative efforts from all stakeholders are needed to achieve the 17 SDGs targets.

Abstract

Abstract

According to Sustainable Waste Indonesia (SWI) data, less than 10% of plastic waste is recycled and more than 50% still ends up in landfill site. The total volume of waste generated by the City of Surakarta in 2020 is 107,873 tons per year, so a waste management scheme is needed that is the joint responsibility of the government, the private sector and the community. One of the waste management schemes involving community participation is through the Waste Bank. The Waste Bank is one solution to deal with the problem of increasing waste production. The waste bank program is a collective self-subsistent waste management system with the principle of recycling. People who act as bank customers will also benefit by depositing their waste and then saving it through a waste bank and from their savings can be taken as needed. Thus, the waste bank will have a positive impact on the environment and improve economic conditions in a community. The sustainable self-subsistent waste bank management program is a solution in handling waste problems in RW 28, Mojosongo sub-district, Surakarta. The implementation of the waste bank management program in RW 28 Mojosongo Village, among others: 1) the establishment of a waste bank, 2) technical training, 3) implementation and development of the waste bank system.

Abstract

The Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change (IPCC) states that transportation contributes 13.1% of emissions (IPCC, 2006). Magetan Regency plans to support Indonesia in reducing emissions by 20% by 2040 by analysing and mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by the transportation sector. The analysis was conducted by calculating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions based on traffic volume survey data and calculating the fuel oil (BBM) used to obtain the amounts of emissions generated. From the analysis, it was found that CO2 emissions generated by the transportation sector in Magetan Regency amounted to 3,105,318.08 tons/year in 2020 and had the potential to increase by 3.31% per year. As mitigation actions, three activities are proposed, namely the use of public transportation, the movement of walking to school and greening. From the three actions, the total emissions are expected to be reduced by 1,422,516 tons/year or equivalent to 45% reduction of total emissions if the three proposed activities are implemented. If this is implemented, Magetan Regency will be able to contribute 0.22% of GHG emission reduction by 2040. If all districts in Indonesia also implement this mitigation, the transportation sector will contribute 9.15% of the emission reduction in Indonesia in 2040.

Abstract

Garbage is one of the major factors in environmental pollution. When the waste management process is not proportionate to the amount of garbage generated, the impact of the accumulation of waste makes the pollution of waste more noticeable. Efforts undertaken in waste management, i.e. using glass waste and wood powder waste as sand subtitles on paving block manufacturing, are expected to reduce environmental pollution problems. The study aims to obtain the highest pressures strength values and the lowest water absorption on paving blocks with a variation of glass waste of 2.5%, 5%, 7,5%, 10%, 12,5% and wood powder of 10% as a subtitling of sand paving block mixed material. From the test results obtained the highest pressures strength value of the variation of mixture of glass powder 5% and wood powder 10% of 4.30 MPa. At the test results, the lowest water absorption was obtained from a variation of a mixture of 5% glass powder and 10% wood powder of 6.42%.
