Abstract

The study aims to investigate the implementation of the Pair Check method as a cooperative learning strategy to enhance junior secondary school students’ competence in writing procedural texts within the Indonesian context. A descriptive qualitative design was employed, involving a Bahasa Indonesia teacher and seventh grade students at MTs Jâ alHaq, Bengkulu. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings show that the Pair Check method was systematically embedded in lesson planning, instructional delivery, and assessment. During classroom practice, students alternated roles between problem solvers and checkers, supported by scaffolding and feedback from the teacher. Results further demonstrate that the method stimulated active participation, encouraged collaboration, and improved students’ ability to structure procedural texts, although challenges were noted in relation to time constraints and uneven student readiness. The study concludes that the Pair Check method offers an effective and contextually responsive pedagogical approach for teaching procedural writing in resource limited settings. Practical implications emphasize the need to design cooperative tasks aligned with genre structures, to explicitly train students in reciprocal roles, and to optimize class time to balance engagement with curriculum objectives.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk Mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai Pendidikan yang terdapat dalam novel “Guru Aini” karya Andrea Hirata, Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pustaka (library research), dengan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini yaitu sumber data primer dan sekunder. Dalam penelitian ini, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu penelitian pustaka, sedangkan teknis analisis datanya adalah analisis data kualitatif dengan menggunakan kerangka berfikir induktif.Novel Guru Aini karya Andrea Hirata menggambarkan keberadaan manusia dalam menghadapi masalah-masalah yang timbul dalam kehidupan yang melingkupinya. Novel Guru Aini juga masih bercerita tentang kaum marginal yang diinspirasi dari kisah nyata. Dalam novel ini masalah yang diangkat berupa masalah pendidikan. Novel ini menceritakan tentang kehidupan Kedua tokoh yang memperjuangkan pendidikan. perjuangan seorang Guru Matematika, yaitu Guru Desi. Guru Desi ini bersikeras ingin menjadi guru matematika, tujuannya sangat mulia yaitu ingin mencerdaskan bangsa ini dari kebodohan yang panjang. Perjalanan Guru Desi tidaklah mudah untuk menjadi Guru Desi yang dipandang sebagai guru Hebat dan eksentrik. Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai pendidikan yang terkandung dalam Novel Guru Aini Karya Andrea Hirata. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu bahwa nilai-nilai pendidikan yang terkandung dalam Novel Guru Aini karya Andrea Hirata seperti nilai pendidikan religius, nilai pendidikan moral, nilai pendidikan sosial, dan nilai pendidikan budaya. Sebagai seorang sastrawan yang hebat, Andrea Hirata dapat mengemas rasa kekecewaannya terhadap dunia pendidikan pada masanya menjadi sebuah karya sastra yang begitu indah. Pembaca menjadi ikut merasakan perjuangan seorang anak miskin untuk meraih cita-citanya

Abstract

Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah agar dapat mengetahui hubungan antara strategi membaca dengan kemampuan memahami teks bacaan pada siswa kelas IX di MTsN 1 kota Bengkulu. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode stastistik korelasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data adalah observasi, angket, tes yang sampelnya berjumlah 32 sampel, analisis product moment. Dari kegaiatan penelitian maka diperoleh hasil penelitian yang perhitungannya dengan SPSS V.22, yang kemudian didapatkan t_hitung 9,674 dengan t_tabel 2,042, yang dimana variabel strategi membaca dikategorikan kedalam tingkatan sedang dengan peresentase 62,5% dan variabel kemampuan memahami teks bacaan dikategorikan kedalam tingkatan sedang dengan peresentase 56,25%. Maka dari perhitungan hasil strategi membaca dengan kemampuan memahami teks bacaan didapatkan nilai sebesar 0,870, pada tabel interprestasi nilai “r” termasuk kedalam kategori tinggi, setelah selesai dilakukan analisis product moment kemudaian selanjutnya dilakukan uji t untuk mengetahi tingkat signifikansi korelasinya. Dari perhitungan uji t diperoleh t_hitung 9,674 dengan taraf signifikansi 5% maka diperoleh nilai t_tabel 2,042. Oleh karena t_hitung > t_tabel yaitu 9,674 > 2,042 maka dalam penelitian ini Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Kesimpulan dari hasil analisis secara signifikan terdapat hubungan antara strategi membaca dengan kemampuan memahami teks bacaan pada siswa di MTsN 1 kota Bengkulu

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahasa mengenai bentuk dan makna tindak tutur dalam adat lamaran (ngantat lemang dan nerimo lemang) masyarakat Suku serawai Desa Lawang Agung Kecamatan Air Periukan. Letak penelitian ini di Desa Lawang Agung Kecamatan Air Periukan Kabupaten Seluma. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menambah wawasan mengenai bentuk dan makna tindak tutur yang digunakan masyarakat Desa Lawang Agung pada acara lamaran dan juga dengan adanya penelitian ini akan semakin bayak orang yang mengetahui tentang adat lamaran masyarakat suku Serawai Desa Lawang Agung. penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data yang diperoleh dari masyarakat Desa Lawang Agung. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa data hasil wawancara dan data lapangan ketika peneliti menyaksikan acara lamaran yang ada di Desa Lawang Agung. Teknik keabsahan datanya menggunakan tiga teknik yaitu observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Data yang dihasilkan oleh peneliti yaitu mengenai tindak tutur dalam adat lamaran masyarakat desa lawang agung, penelitian di lakukan saat salah seorang warga desa melaksanakan lamaran. Terdapat beberapa kalimat tutur dalam musyawarah lamaran tersebut, kemudian kalimat-kalimat tersebut digolongkan menjadi tiga jenis tindak tutur. Dalam musyawarah majelis lamaran terdapat tiga juru bicara di antaranya kepala desa, juru bicara pihak perempuan dan juru bicara pihak laki-laki. Hasil penelitian memperoleh bentuk dan makna tindak tutur dalam adat lamaran masyarakat Desa Lawang Agung digolongkan menjadi tiga jenis yaitu tindak tutur lokusi, tindak tutur ilokusi dan tindak tutur perlokusi

Abstract

Ungkapan larangan merupakan sebuah ungkapan yang mengandung perintah melarang suatu perbuatan manusia, ungkapan larangan ini diungkapkan dengan berbagai bentuk misalnya bentuk imperatif jangan atau frasa ingkat tidak di benarkan. Ungkapan larangan ini memiliki struktur dan fungsi sosial di dalamnya berupa ungkapan larangan berstruktur dua bagian yakni sebab dan akibat dan ungkapan larangan yang berstruktur tiga bagian yakni tanda, perubahan dan hasil serta fungsi sosial sebagai penebal emosi keyakinan atau keagamaan, imajinasi atau khayalan, alat untuk mendidik, melarang, dan menyuruh atau mengingatkan. Oleh karena itu peneliti mengembangkan hasil temuan dengan lebih akurat dan lebih efisien. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan teknik mengumpulkan data dengan 3 langah yaitu observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah masyarakat yang ada di desa Air Umban Kecamatan Pino Kabupaten Bengkulu Selatan serta menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat di simpulkan bahwa ungkapan larangan ini sudah mulai hilang kerena sudah bergantikan dengan bahasa-bahasa anak gaul zaman sekarang serta tidak banyak anak-anak atau orang dewasa mengetahui tentang ungkapan larangan ini hanya sebagai dari mereka

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the implementation of the peer tutoring method in teaching descriptive text structure to seventh-grade students at MTs Darussalam, Bengkulu City, and explore the supporting and inhibiting factors in its application. The research adopts a qualitative approach, encompassing stages of planning, data collection, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of the study were teachers and grade VII students at MTs Darussalam, Bengkulu City. Data were collected through interviews, documentation, and observations, and were validated using source triangulation and technique triangulation. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s framework. The findings reveal that the peer tutoring method was effectively implemented, as evidenced by student learning outcomes that surpassed the average in their ability to identify and organize the structure of descriptive texts. The evaluation specifically assessed students' accuracy in determining the text structure. The study identified inhibiting factors, such as difficulties in selecting appropriate tutors and challenges arising from a less conducive learning environment. In contrast, supporting factors included strong teacher-student interaction and high levels of student enthusiasm. These findings underscore the potential of the peer tutoring method to improve learning outcomes in descriptive text structure, while also highlighting areas for further enhancement, particularly in tutor selection and classroom management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of code-switching and code-mixing in Maudy Ayunda’s Instagram captions, focusing on the interplay between Indonesian and English. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected from Instagram posts between March 31 and December 29, 2022. Observational and documentation techniques, including screenshots of captions, were employed to gather data. The analysis reveals that Maudy Ayunda employs both code-switching (switching between languages within sentences) and code-mixing (inserting foreign words or phrases within a sentence). These practices are influenced by socio-situational factors, including her educational background and the desire to reach a broader audience. The findings suggest that Maudy Ayunda’s strategic use of language helps enhance the clarity and engagement of her posts, making her content more accessible to diverse followers. This study contributes to the understanding of language dynamics in digital communication, highlighting the role of multilingualism in online interactions.

Abstract

This study analyzes the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of the Pekal songs in Salam Sakapoh Iban, an album by Man Pekal, to explore how these songs convey both literary aesthetics and socio-cultural meanings. Song lyrics, often considered poetic, serve as artistic expressions while simultaneously reflecting cultural values. Despite their significance, Pekal songs remain underexplored in Indonesian literary studies. This qualitative descriptive research examines ten selected songs through transcription, translation, classification, and thematic interpretation. Data were collected via textual analysis and interviews, distinguishing intrinsic elements (such as diction, imagery, concrete words, figurative language, rhyme; theme, emotion, tone, and message) and extrinsic elements (biographical, social, and value-based contexts). The findings reveal that Pekal songs merge aesthetic and cultural functions. Intrinsically, the songs utilize vivid diction, repetition, figurative imagery, and rhyme to express themes of love, longing, migration, solidarity, and cultural identity. Extrinsically, they reflect the composer’s biography, socio-cultural environment, and values such as care, obedience, religiosity, and historical memory. Songs like Maratau emphasize migration struggles, while Salam Sakapoh Iban foregrounds unity and tradition. The interplay between intrinsic and extrinsic elements demonstrates how Pekal songs function as both artistic and cultural texts, preserving identity and imparting moral teachings. These songs contribute to understanding local identity in a globalized world while maintaining ethnic values. This study concludes that analyzing Pekal songs enriches Indonesian literature and sustains regional identity amidst cultural transformation.

Abstract

The study aims to develop and validate a fantasy text module for Indonesian language instruction in junior secondary schools. Employing a research and development (R&D) design adapted from Borg and Gall, the study involved two Indonesian language teachers at SMP Negeri 12 Bengkulu and three expert validators in content, language, and media. Data were collected through teacher needs questionnaires, expert judgment sheets, and iterative prototype revisions, then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results indicate that teacher needs assessments scored 92% and 72%, confirming the demand for supplementary materials, while expert validation scores ranged from 70% to 87%, with an overall feasibility rating of 77.3% in the “good” category. Revisions focused on improving conceptual mapping, evaluation tasks, linguistic accuracy, and graphic design to enhance clarity and usability. These findings demonstrate that the developed module is pedagogically sound and practically applicable, effectively supporting students’ ability to write fantasy texts in alignment with the 2013 curriculum. The study concludes that fantasy text modules not only enrich literacy instruction but also foster imagination and moral values, offering a creative and contextually responsive resource for Indonesian language education in junior secondary schools.

Abstract

This study explores the linguistic forms, symbolic meanings, and cultural functions of healing mantras among the Javanese Belumai II community in Padang Ulak Tanding, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through observation of rituals, interviews with three practitioners, and documentation of recited mantras, followed by hermeneutic analysis. The results identify seven mantras employed for healing, including those addressing spirit disturbances, child protection, eye disease, toothache, abscess, headache, and sorcery-related illness. Structurally, the mantras appear in two forms: poetic free-verse and pantun with ABAB rhyme schemes, both framed by Islamic invocations such as Bismillahirrahmanirrahim and Lailahaillallah. Symbolically, they embody prayers for divine intervention, protective commands, metaphoric persuasion, and performative declarations that reinforce cultural belief in healing. These findings demonstrate that mantras function as both therapeutic expressions and cultural acts, sustaining intangible heritage and communal identity. Compared with earlier studies that focused mainly on ritual or symbolism, this research offers novelty by systematically integrating form and meaning in one community context. The study implies the importance of safeguarding oral traditions, supporting culturally sensitive health policies, and enriching educational curricula, while acknowledging limitations in scope and suggesting broader, interdisciplinary research.
