Abstract

This article is a literature review that aims to explore the transformation of Islamic crowdfunding as an alternative financing model within the digital Islamic banking system. Using a qualitative approach through literature analysis, the study identifies and analyzes various models of Islamic crowdfunding and their integration with financial technology (fintech) in compliance with Sharia principles. The findings suggest that Islamic crowdfunding offers an inclusive and efficient financing solution, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), by providing a transparent, equitable, and interest-free mechanism. Digital transformation presents new opportunities for Islamic financial institutions to adopt crowdfunding platforms as part of innovative financing strategies. The study also highlights the importance of regulation and digital literacy as key supporting factors in developing a sustainable Islamic crowdfunding ecosystem.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has transformed various sectors of life, including education and financial services. In the context of Islamic economics, Islamic financial education plays a vital role in shaping public literacy to enable individuals to understand, select, and manage financial products based on Sharia principles. This study aims to systematically examine how the transformation of Islamic financial education—through curriculum digitalization, technology-based learning media, and online outreach—affects financial literacy in the digital era. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of academic articles published between 2015 and 2024, sourced from indexed databases such as Scopus, Google Scholar, and DOAJ. The findings indicate that the integration of technology into Islamic financial education positively contributes to enhancing public understanding, particularly among millennials and Gen Z, regarding the principles, instruments, and practices of Sharia finance. However, digital access disparities and limited digital literacy remain major challenges. This study recommends enhanced collaboration between educational institutions, Sharia financial authorities, and the technology sector to develop inclusive and adaptive educational models suited to contemporary changes.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the role of regulation in shaping the history and development of Islamic banking within the dual banking system in Indonesia. The focus is on mapping regulatory policies, institutional responses, and the dynamics that influence the positioning and growth of Islamic banking institutions over time. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), involving the identification and analysis of 30 scholarly articles from various accredited national journals. The selected literature was examined based on themes of regulation, institutional history, and its impact within the context of a dual banking system, using narrative synthesis and thematic analysis. The findings indicate that regulations such as Law No. 21 of 2008 have provided a significant legal foundation for Islamic banking. However, challenges remain, particularly in harmonizing conventional and Islamic policies, improving the competence of human resources, and preparing for financial digitalization. The review also notes that most studies tend to emphasize operational aspects rather than exploring regulatory dimensions from a historical and systemic perspective. The implications suggest the need for more inclusive and adaptive regulatory frameworks that align with the specific characteristics of Islamic banking. Furthermore, collaboration between regulators, academics, and industry stakeholders is essential to strengthen the position of Islamic banks within a sustainable and equitable national financial system.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Islamic bank intermediation in poverty alleviation amidst global economic inequality. Operating on the principles of justice, transparency, and profit-sharing, Islamic banks serve as alternative financial institutions focused on community empowerment. Through intermediation mechanisms such as microfinance, productive zakat, and social investments, Islamic banks enhance financial access for underprivileged groups. This research employs a qualitative method with a data collection technique in the form of literature review, by analyzing relevant academic literature, accredited journal articles, research reports, and policy documents. The findings indicate that Islamic bank intermediation plays a significant role in reducing structural poverty and promoting economic equity. In the context of global disparities, Islamic banks also act as instruments of stabilization and fair wealth redistribution. To optimize this role sustainably, regulatory support and cross-sector collaboration are essential.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article aims to systematically examine the contribution of Islamic banking institutions in supporting sustainable finance, particularly in the context of global developments related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. The study also seeks to assess the extent to which Shariah values can be integrated with internationally adopted sustainability indicators. The method used in this research is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), analyzing 30 scholarly articles published between 2015 and 2024. The selection and analysis process was conducted systematically, referring to the PRISMA protocol and thematic synthesis techniques to identify key findings. The results show that Islamic banks have significant potential in supporting sustainable finance, especially through the principles of Maqashid Shariah, which align with the ESG pillars. However, practical implementation of ESG in Islamic financial institutions still faces limitations, such as the lack of Shariah-based sustainability indicators, low transparency, and weak regulation and standardization. Moreover, a comprehensive and operational ESG-Maqashid integration model has not yet been developed at the institutional level. The study recommends the development of an integrative framework between ESG and Shariah principles to enhance the effectiveness of Islamic banks in contributing to sustainable development goals.Practically, this article is valuable for regulators, academics, and industry practitioners in developing Shariah-compliant financial policies and instruments aligned with ESG principles.Theoretically, it expands the horizon of Islamic economics research by proposing the incorporation of Islamic values into the global sustainability framework, which is increasingly relevant in the modern finance era

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article aims to systematically examine the relationship between the transformation of operational strategy, the implementation of green banking, and the principles of Islamic banking in addressing sustainability challenges. In the evolving banking industry, integrating operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, and Sharia-based values has become increasingly crucial. The methodology used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA guidelines. A total of 30 scholarly articles published between 2018 and 2024 were analyzed thematically to identify trends, dominant findings, and research gaps. The results reveal that, although there is a positive trend in the development of green banking and digital transformation in Islamic banking, the integration of these three aspects remains limited. There is a lack of theoretical frameworks that simultaneously combine sustainability and Sharia principles within operational banking practices. Therefore, this article recommends the development of a conceptual framework that can effectively align operational strategies, green banking principles, and the objectives of maqashid sharia. Theoretically, this study contributes to the foundation for future research, while practically, it serves as a reference for Islamic banking management in designing sustainable strategies that balance economic, social, and spiritual values
