Abstract

Background: Influenza remains a major global respiratory infection and public health concern. In Indonesia, influenza surveillance is conducted through the Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) sentinel system. The BLKM Manado laboratory supports influenza surveillance in North Sulawesi and Gorontalo provinces. Objective: This study aims to describe influenza sample examination results in 2024 at BLKM Manado to support early detection of potential outbreaks in its catchment area. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study with a cross-sectional laboratory-based approach was conducted. Data were obtained from 102 samples collected from four ILI–SARI sentinel sites during January–December 2024. Examinations were performed using real-time PCR to detect influenza A/B and SARS-CoV-2. Results: Out of 102 samples, 27 (26.5%) were positive for influenza, mainly from West Amurang Health Center (51.9%), Kabila Health Center (40.7%), and Ainun Habibie Hospital (7.4%). Identified viruses included influenza type B (56%) and type A (44%), while 12% were positive for SARS-CoV-2. Most cases occurred in the productive age group (19–59 years). Conclusion: Both influenza A and B viruses were detected in the BLKM Manado working area throughout 2024, with type B predominating. These findings highlight the need to sustain and strengthen the ILI–SARI sentinel surveillance system for early detection and laboratory-based control of respiratory infections in tropical regions.

Abstract

The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia to enhance innovation, operational efficiency, and competitiveness. However, adoption remains limited due to constraints in human capital, financial capacity, and digital infrastructure. This study aims to identify the strategic factors influencing generative AI adoption among Indonesian SMEs and to design a framework that accelerates its implementation using SWOT analysis and strategy mapping. Employing a qualitative literature review method, the research synthesizes findings from academic and institutional sources published between 2018 and 2025. The results reveal that Indonesian SMEs possess notable strengths, including entrepreneurial agility and growing digital literacy, yet face weaknesses such as limited AI expertise and investment capacity. Opportunities arise from supportive national policies, affordable cloud technologies, and collaborative ecosystems, while threats include cybersecurity issues and regulatory uncertainty. Through strategy mapping based on the Balanced Scorecard framework, four perspectives—learning and growth, internal process, customer, and financial—are connected to guide AI adoption strategically. The study proposes actionable recommendations for SME managers, policymakers, and supporting institutions to build capability, governance, and collaboration. Overall, this research provides a comprehensive strategic model to facilitate effective and sustainable generative AI adoption among Indonesian SMEs.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) training systems in enhancing motor learning and reaction time in team sports. A qualitative research design was employed, utilizing a systematic literature review (SLR) to analyze and synthesize existing studies on the application of VR in sports training. The review focused on peer-reviewed articles, conference proceedings, and other relevant sources to examine the impact of VR on motor skill acquisition and reaction time improvement, particularly in team sports such as football, basketball, and volleyball. The findings suggest that VR training systems significantly enhance motor learning by providing athletes with an immersive, game-like environment that improves cognitive-motor integration and skill retention. Moreover, VR training systems also demonstrated a positive effect on reaction time, with athletes responding faster to stimuli and improving decision-making under pressure. However, while VR training showed substantial benefits, limitations such as the inability to replicate the full complexity of live competition were noted. Additionally, the impact of VR training varied across different team sports, with football and basketball benefiting more due to the fast-paced, dynamic nature of these sports. The study concludes that VR training systems offer valuable tools for enhancing motor skills and reaction time, but further research is needed to refine the technology and integrate it more effectively into traditional training methods.

Abstract

Nurse job satisfaction is an important factor that affects service quality, organizational commitment, and workforce retention in hospitals. A decrease in the level of job satisfaction of nurses can cause burnout, high turnover, and reduce the quality of health services. This study aims to find out the factors that affect the job satisfaction of nurses in the Inpatient Unit of Tk. III Hospital 04.06.03 dr. R. Soetarto Yogyakarta. This study uses a quantitative analytical approach with questionnaire instruments distributed to 80 implementing nurses who meet the inclusion criteria, such as working actively in inpatient units, having a minimum working period of 6 months, and willing to fill out a complete questionnaire. The results showed that the variables of leadership, work environment, and compensation all had a significant effect on nurses' job satisfaction. Of these three factors, compensation has proven to be the most dominant factor in determining the level of job satisfaction of nurses. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that fair and adequate compensation is the main determinant of job satisfaction, followed by a conducive work environment and effective leadership. Therefore, hospital management needs to prioritize improving a better compensation system, accompanied by improvements in terms of leadership and quality of the work environment to improve nurses' overall job satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of church revenue contributions by congregations in the Klasis of East Ambon Island, Maluku Protestant Church (GPM) during 2024. The research focuses on three main types of funds: 30% fund (contribution to the Synod), 7% fund (contribution to the Klasis), and 1% fund (contribution to the Foundation), as regulated in the 43rd Session Decision of the Synod’s Working Assembly (MPL) GPM No. 5/MPL/43/2022. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with secondary data sourced from the Church's Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBG) realization reports from thirty congregations in the East Ambon Klasis region. The analysis is conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that the majority of congregations show a very high level of effectiveness. For the 30% fund, 22 congregations were classified as very effective, 2 as moderately effective, 5 as less effective, and 3 as ineffective. For the 7% fund, 25 congregations were classified as very effective, 2 as effective, 1 as moderately effective, and 2 as ineffective. Meanwhile, for the 1% fund, 24 congregations were classified as very effective, 2 as effective, 1 as moderately effective, and 2 as ineffective. These findings suggest that most congregations exhibit high financial compliance, while some, such as Benteng Karang and Naku, consistently struggle to meet contribution targets. Overall, the financial management of the church in the East Ambon Klasis is considered effective and accountable. However, continuous mentoring and evaluation are necessary for congregations with low effectiveness in order to achieve performance equity and enhance financial compliance across the GPM service area.
