Abstract

Abstract

Vocabulary development is a fundamental component of early childhood language acquisition and plays a crucial role in children’s cognitive growth and future academic success. The rapid integration of digital technology into early childhood education has raised questions regarding its effectiveness compared to conventional learning approaches in supporting vocabulary development. This study aims to compare early childhood vocabulary development in digital learning and conventional learning contexts. The research employed a qualitative approach using a literature study design. Data were collected from reputable national and international journals, books, and research reports related to early childhood vocabulary development, digital learning, and conventional learning. The selected literature was analyzed using content analysis to identify patterns, similarities, and differences between the two learning approaches. The findings indicate that digital learning effectively supports receptive vocabulary development and initial word recognition through multimodal features such as visuals, audio, and interactivity, particularly when accompanied by adult guidance. In contrast, conventional learning demonstrates stronger outcomes in expressive vocabulary development, pragmatic language use, and deeper semantic understanding through face-to-face interaction, dialogic reading, and guided communication. Overall, the study concludes that digital and conventional learning offer complementary benefits, and a blended learning approach provides the most effective support for early childhood vocabulary development.

Abstract

This study aims to 1) Identify the form of accounting implementation based on the EMKM Financial Accounting Standards (SAK EMKM) in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) fostered by DEKRANASDA West Java, and 2) Determine whether the accounting implementation in these SMEs has been in accordance with SAK EMKM. The type of data used is qualitative data, in the form of a questionnaire or statements provided to SME entrepreneurs fostered by DEKRANASDA West Java regarding the implementation of accounting based on the Financial Accounting Standards (SAK). The data analysis uses a descriptive method. The results of the study show that the form of accounting implementation in SMEs fostered by DEKRANASDA West Java in Bandung City and Bandung Regency is still very simple, and on average, it does not comply with the Financial Accounting Standards, as many have not met the stages of the accounting cycle. The challenges faced in preparing financial reports include insufficient technical knowledge in preparing such reports, especially based on SAK, as well as the lack of awareness and discipline among SMEs regarding the importance of complete and standard-compliant financial reports. These reports are essential tools for evaluating the operational results of their businesses. The understanding of SME entrepreneurs fostered by DEKRANASDA West Java regarding the Financial Accounting Standards is still lacking. Overall, the financial report presentation among SME entrepreneurs is approximately 50.72%, which meets the compliance standards based on the Financial Accounting Standards (SAK).

Abstract

This study provides a philosophical analysis of Islamic legal principles in the era of modernity, focusing on their relevance and application in contemporary societal contexts. Employing a qualitative research methodology through a literature study and library research, the paper examines key concepts within Islamic law—such as justice, equality, freedom, and human rights—while comparing them with modern legal frameworks. The findings reveal both alignment and tension between traditional Islamic jurisprudence and modern legal systems. While there is common ground in principles such as justice and human dignity, significant differences arise in areas such as gender equality, individual freedoms, and the application of human rights. The study highlights the role of ijtihad (independent legal reasoning) as a tool for adapting Islamic legal thought to contemporary issues. However, challenges remain in reconciling Islamic law’s traditional interpretations with the demands of modern governance, especially in contexts where secular legal systems prioritize individual rights over collective moral obligations. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on the adaptability of Islamic law in modern times and suggests avenues for future research, including exploring the practical applications of ijtihad in modern legal systems and further investigating the interpretation of gender equality within Islamic jurisprudence.

Abstract

The issue of gender equality in Islamic education, particularly within the context of Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren), remains a relevant topic for empirical study. Pondok pesantren, as religious educational institutions, not only play a role in the transmission of Islamic knowledge but also in shaping social relations and interaction patterns between male and female students (santri). This study aims to analyze gender education practices and their implications for gender equality at the Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz Al-Quran Baytul Mukarromah in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical research type. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving administrators, male and female students, and teachers (ustaz/ustazah). Data analysis was conducted using the gender analysis framework of Access, Participation, Control, and Benefit (APKB) to gain a deeper understanding of gender education relations and gender equality in the practices of pesantren education. Preliminary findings show active participation of female students in both academic and non-academic activities, including leadership and achievements, indicating the openness of equal opportunities in certain aspects. However, this study begins with the assumption that this equality may not be substantive and still requires further analysis of aspects such as control and the distribution of educational benefits. It is hoped that this study can contribute empirically to the development of gender perspective in Islamic education studies and serve as a practical reference for the development of a more equitable and gender-responsive tahfidz pesantren education model.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of oral bacterial infections and growing concerns regarding the long-term use of synthetic antibacterial agents have encouraged the exploration of natural alternatives in oral care products. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial effectiveness of toothpaste containing sunflower seed extract (Helianthus annuus Linn.) against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC® 29213 in vitro. Sunflower seeds were extracted using maceration, followed by phytochemical screening to identify bioactive secondary metabolites. The extract was formulated into toothpaste at concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, and 10%. A commercial antibacterial toothpaste (Siwak-F) was used as a positive control, while toothpaste base without antibacterial agents served as a negative control. Physicochemical characteristics of the formulations, including organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, and viscosity, were evaluated to ensure formulation quality. Antibacterial activity was assessed using the agar well diffusion method on Mueller–Hinton Agar, and inhibition zone diameters were measured after 24 hours of incubation at 37°C. Statistical analysis was performed using the Kruskal–Wallis test followed by the Mann–Whitney post hoc test. The results demonstrated a concentration-dependent increase in antibacterial activity. Toothpaste containing 10% sunflower seed extract produced the largest inhibition zone and exhibited antibacterial activity comparable to the positive control, with no statistically significant difference. Lower concentrations (2.5% and 5%) also showed significant antibacterial effects compared to the negative control. These findings indicate that sunflower seed extract-based toothpaste has strong potential as a natural antibacterial dentifrice and may serve as a safer alternative to synthetic antibacterial agents in oral healthcare.

Abstract

This study investigates the antibacterial activity of toothpaste formulated with Theobroma cacao L. pod husk extract against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC®29213. The extract was incorporated into toothpaste formulations at concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, and 10%. The antibacterial activity was evaluated using the well diffusion method, and inhibition zones were measured after a 24-hour incubation period at 37°C. The results showed that all concentrations of the toothpaste exhibited significant antibacterial effects, with the 10% concentration demonstrating the highest efficacy. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and terpenoids, which are known for their antimicrobial properties. The 10% concentration of the extract showed the largest inhibition zone, reaching 19.3 mm, significantly higher than the 2.5% and 5% concentrations, which yielded zones of 13.4 mm and 15.9 mm, respectively. While the positive control (Siwak-F) demonstrated the highest inhibition zone (20.9 mm), the cocoa pod husk extract at 10% concentration showed comparable efficacy. Physical evaluations of the toothpaste formulations indicated good stability, with acceptable levels of pH, spreadability, and viscosity. These findings suggest that Theobroma cacao pod husk extract has potential as a natural antibacterial agent in toothpaste formulations, offering an alternative to synthetic chemical agents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the indicators of Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory as represented in The Karate Kid movie (2010) and to examine their relevance to English education. Employing a qualitative descriptive research design, the study analyzes selected scenes, dialogues, character interactions, and narrative elements using Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence framework. The findings reveal that the movie portrays six types of intelligence: visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic intelligence. These intelligences are manifested through physical training, social interactions, emotional development, environmental engagement, and auditory-visual elements embedded in the film. The results suggest that The Karate Kid functions as a multimodal instructional resource that aligns with learner-centered and differentiated approaches in English education. By integrating Multiple Intelligence Theory into film-based instruction, English teachers can design diverse learning activities that address varied learner strengths, enhance student engagement, and support holistic language development. This study contributes to the field of English education by highlighting the pedagogical value of films as instructional media and reinforcing the relevance of Multiple Intelligence Theory in contemporary language teaching practices.
