Abstract

Increasing the competence of lecturers in higher education is a crucial factor in improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia. Private universities in Kendari, although they have implemented various policies to develop lecturer competencies, still face challenges in implementing policies that are effective and in accordance with the specific needs of each study program. One of the research gaps found is the limited resources, both budget and time, which hinder the development of lecturer competencies in a sustainable and structured manner. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with in-depth interviews with five key informants to explore the policies and strategies applied in the development of lecturer competencies in private universities in Kendari. The findings of this study contribute to enriching the literature on lecturer competency development policies, as well as providing practical insights for university management in designing training programs that are more flexible and integrated with the specific needs of disciplines. The implications of this study are the importance of adjusting lecturer competency development policies that are more adaptive to the challenges faced, as well as the need for continuous evaluation to increase the effectiveness of the program.

Abstract

Training and development of Human Resources (HR) has a very important role in improving performance and competitiveness in various industrial sectors, including culinary MSMEs. Although many studies highlight the importance of training in large companies, there are still few that examine the application of training in culinary MSMEs, especially in relation to the limited resources they have. The gap in this research lies in the lack of studies that measure the direct impact of training on employee performance in the culinary MSME sector, especially in the development of soft skills such as customer service. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with MSME owners, HR managers, employees, coaches, and HR management experts to identify the impact of training on HR performance in culinary MSMEs. The findings of this study contribute to understanding the importance of training tailored to the specific needs of employees and show that technology-based training can be an efficient solution for MSMEs with limited time and resources. This research can provide practical solutions for culinary MSMEs in designing relevant and efficient training programs to improve the performance and competitiveness of culinary businesses.

Abstract

The hospitality industry in Indonesia, particularly in Kendari, faces challenges in improving the competence and quality of human resources (HR) in line with the rapid growth of the tourism sector. Although hotel managers recognize the importance of employee training, the skills gap between the workforce's existing competencies and the growing demands of the hospitality industry remains a significant issue. This study addresses the knowledge gap regarding HR development challenges in Kendari's hospitality sector, caused by the mismatch between available training programs and the practical competencies required in the field. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, conducting in-depth interviews with hotel owners, HR managers, employees, academics, and government representatives to analyze the problems and training needs in the hospitality industry. The findings contribute significantly to the development of human resource management theory in the hospitality sector, as well as providing insights for hotel managers and local governments to design more relevant training policies based on market needs.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia play a significant role in the national economy; however, their success remains limited, especially in Kendari. Despite their large potential for growth, challenges such as limited access to financing, low financial management understanding, and underutilization of digital technology hinder their competitiveness. This study aims to identify factors affecting the success of MSMEs in Kendari and address the knowledge gap related to the challenges faced by business owners in the region. The study employed a qualitative approach, conducting in-depth interviews with five informants directly involved in the MSME ecosystem in Kendari, including business owners, government representatives, microfinance institution staff, academics, and MSME association leaders. The findings show that product quality, technology utilization, access to capital, and the role of social networks and government support are key factors in supporting the success of MSMEs in Kendari. The implications of this research emphasize the need to strengthen MSMEs' capacities in financial management and digital marketing and to improve coordination between the government, financial institutions, and associations to address the challenges faced by MSME owners.

Abstract

The MSME sector in Indonesia plays a significant role in the economy; however, many MSME entrepreneurs still face substantial challenges, particularly in accessing capital, marketing, and business management. In Muna Regency, despite the government's various policies and programs to support MSME management, these challenges remain major obstacles to the development of this sector. Although several studies on MSME management in Indonesia have been conducted, there has been no in-depth study on the effectiveness of MSME management policies, especially in Muna Regency, which has unique economic and social characteristics. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research design with interviews of five key informants involved in MSME management in Muna Regency to analyze the challenges faced and the strategies implemented. The findings of this study provide important insights into the need for more targeted policies and collaboration between the government, financial institutions, and MSME entrepreneurs to address existing constraints, particularly in improving access to financing and expanding markets. The results of this research are expected to contribute to the theoretical development of MSME management literature and offer practical recommendations for government policies and MSME entrepreneurs to enhance competitiveness in the digital era.

Abstract

Service quality is a crucial factor in increasing customer satisfaction, especially in the competitive restaurant industry. However, the challenge in maintaining service consistency, especially in the dimensions of reliability and responsiveness, is a problem that is often faced by restaurants, including Eva Permata Restaurant. This research fills the knowledge gap by exploring the implementation of service excellence based on the SERVQUAL dimension (reliability, assurance, tangibles, empathy, and responsiveness) to improve service quality. The qualitative descriptive methodology is used through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews with informants that include managers, employees, and regular customers. The results of the study show success in the dimensions of assurance, tangibles, and empathy, while the dimensions of reliability and responsiveness require improvement, especially in operational management during crowded conditions. This research makes a theoretical contribution to the SERVQUAL literature in the restaurant industry and offers practical solutions in the form of strengthening SOPs, competency-based training, and the use of technology. By strengthening areas that need attention, this research can be a strategic reference to improve customer satisfaction holistically in the restaurant sector.
