Abstract

Sex education should be given from an early age to prevent sexual harassment. Giving sex education to children is an effort to provide information about the function of the private parts. It makes them aware of sex and sexuality and the importance of taking them as privacy. It is also an opportunity to instill moral values and ethics. This community service employed a Service-Learning approach by utilizing adapted learning methods as well as adequate facilitators. In this program, sex education is given to grade 1 (as an early introduction) and grade 6 students (as they are approaching pre-puberty) at a primary school with material related to everyday life. This program ran for two weeks and received a satisfying response from the students and the school stakeholders. The result shows that the students understood the material very well. In addition, there is a reasonably positive behavior change in the students' awareness to take care of themselves in association with their classmates, especially those related to their private parts.

Abstract

The National Literacy Movement is widely echoed in the school environment. On the other hand, literacy can also be developed at home for young children by parents. Reading together between parents and children is proven to be able to develop children's literacy. Herein, the Community Service activity which focuses on the initial read aloud training for parents is pivotal. The initial read aloud training aimed to train parents in a village in West Bandung Regency, West Java, to read storybooks to children. This activity was carried out in October 2018, involving 18 parents (mothers) with young children. Through this training, the involved parents showed an awareness, among mothers, of the importance of reading stories at home, selecting story books for children, and reading stories to and/or with children. Through this activity, it is hoped that parents can increase awareness of the importance of supporting literacy from an early age in children and practicing it at home. In addition, it is expected that there will be follow-up trainings such as reading assistance to parents

Household waste contributes to the volume of waste. In general, household waste is easily biodegradable and difficult to decompose. Household products that are hard to decompose are generally plastic and plastic bottles predominantly. The difficulty of decomposing household plastic waste requires serious handling, so it is necessary to provide assistance for processing plastic waste into useful creations. One of them becomes ecobric. There are two methods of this activity, namely direct counseling and training. The results obtained after the community service activities were completed was that they were able to improve community skills in processing plastic waste into ecobrics. Furthermore, ecobrics are created into potted plants and other forms of creation. In addition, after this activity is carried out, it can reduce the movement of plastic waste to the final disposal site (TPA), so that the community hopes that this activity will continue to be transmitted to other places to create a clean and free environment from plastic waste.

Abstract

This article is the result of research that examines the efforts of the Kuwu village community to escape dependence on rice yields through dragon fruit cultivation by utilizing empty house yard assets with a Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach. This approach provides an opportunity for researchers from the University of the UINSA KKN Team and the Kuwu village community to partner and collaborate to conduct research together to find solutions to problems faced by the community to improve their economic welfare. After conducting the inculturation stage with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the Kuwu village community, and conducting an analysis of the initial assets owned by the local community, the researchers from the UINSA KKN Team group 18 together with the community focused on efforts to solve the problem of the dependence of the Kuwu village community on the results. rice harvesters by looking for additional income alternatives by cultivating dragon fruit by utilizing their empty home yard land. To solve this problem, researchers from the UINSA Team and residents of the Kuwu village community worked together in every stage of the research. There are four stages in the CBPR method, namely: (1) Foundation laying, (2) Research planning, (3) Data collection and analysis, (4) Determination of action on findings. Through these stages, it can be concluded that the results of this study include; first, the planting of dragon fruit seeds carried out by UINSA KKN students and residents of the Kuwu village community, starting with a literacy study and socialization about the benefits of dragon fruit initiated by local community leaders and extension workers from the local Agriculture Service; second, efforts to carry out various joint experiments to make food/snacks from processed dragon fruit carried out by PKK women and UINSA KKN students. This action was also followed up by the village government by initiating a working group (farmer's group) to oversee this program until finally realizing the aspirations of the community members to become a dragon fruit center village in the future.
