Abstract

The support of husbands and family members in safe childbirth preparation is crucial for pregnant women. Husbands serve as both emotional and physical companions, providing comfort and security during the birthing process. Challenges encountered in community service partnerships related to spousal and familial support in safe childbirth preparation can encompass several aspects. Firstly, a lack of understanding among husbands and family members regarding the childbirth process can result in minimal emotional and physical support. Many husbands do not participate in prenatal education, leaving them unprepared to provide the necessary support. Secondly, cultural norms that limit the husband's role in childbirth can pose challenges. In some communities, there is still a belief that the husband's role is insignificant in childbirth preparation, leading to decreased participation. This can diminish the pregnant woman's self-confidence and create discomfort. Based on the challenges faced by partners, the proposed solution is the creation of engaging informational media to facilitate the dissemination of information to the public, particularly to husbands and family members, in support of safe childbirth preparation, a program referred to as DuGaLiMan. This initiative was implemented in September 2024 at Babirik Community Health Center, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, South Kalimantan Province. The DuGaLiMan program, which focuses on spousal and familial support in safe childbirth preparation at Babirik Community Health Center, demonstrates its success in achieving its objectives. The program has successfully increased the knowledge and awareness of husbands and family members regarding the importance of their roles during the childbirth process. With appropriate education, they can provide the necessary emotional and physical support to pregnant women, creating a safer and more comfortable environment.

Abstract

Breast cancer and its consequences have become a public health problem globally due to the impact of health disorders caused and the most severe impact is leading to death. Changes in diet and eating culture (fast food and lack of intake of vegetables and fruits) are one of the lifestyle changes that occur in adolescents today. Teenagers are more likely to consume foods that follow trends without looking at the nutritional status or content contained in the food. Fast food (junk food) contains a lot of dyes, preservatives, artificial flavors and how to process them by frying at high temperatures or burning. The habit of not eating less fatty foods (fruits and vegetables) and the habit of consuming red and processed meat also triggers the occurrence of tumors. One of the prevention of breast cancer is by conducting early detection of breast cancer which can be done with breast self-examination (SADARI). The purpose of this community service activity is to increase adolescents' knowledge about breast cancer and detect the early occurrence of breast cancer through breast self-examination (SADARI), This service activity involves adolescent girls in grade VIII aged 13-15 years At SMP Negeri 1 Unter Iwes, the implementation has been carried out on August 19, 2024. Service is carried out starting from preparation to evaluation. The method used in service is the method of socialization and application (application) directly in the field. Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is the primary and best source of nutrition for infants. The World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommends exclusive breastfeeding due to its numerous benefits for infant growth, particularly during the first six months of life. However, the significance of breastfeeding is often not conveyed effectively to nursing mothers, resulting in many failing to exclusively breastfeed their babies and opting instead for formula milk or other types of food. One reason for this failure is the lack of information provided to mothers, which weakens their motivation to consistently provide exclusive breastfeeding to their babies aged 0-6 months. To address this issue, a counseling session was conducted in Sayar Subdistrict, Serang City, with 15 participants. The session employed a pre-test and post-test method using a questionnaire consisting of 10 questions to measure the participants' knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding. The assessment was divided into three categories: good knowledge, adequate knowledge, and poor knowledge. The pre-test results showed that 13% of participants had good knowledge, 20% had adequate knowledge, and 67% had poor knowledge. After the counseling session, the results improved significantly, with 87% of participants categorized as having good knowledge, 13% with adequate knowledge, and none in the poor knowledge category. With this improved understanding of exclusive breastfeeding, it is hoped that the participants will be able to implement exclusive breastfeeding for their babies.

Abstract

DHF (Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever) is a disease caused by the aedes virus. WHO states that 4,000 people worldwide have died from DHF, Banjar City in 2024 had 387 cases of DHF. Based on the results of community diagnosis using the ultrasound method, it has been determined that the priority health problem is DHF (Dengue Fever). Based on the results of the SWOT analysis, it was found that the determinant factor of the health problem is non-compliance with the 3M Plus PSN which includes: empty houses are not maintained with damp and dark conditions, the community does not understand and has not implemented the 3M Plus PSN at home, and the community only recognizes DHF prevention efforts limited to fogging. Therefore, we designed innovations through the LASKAR DBD program (Collaborative Strategic Steps for Dengue Fever) with the implementation of activities in the form of revitalizing the DBD center building as a place for socialization and counseling about dengue, fishization by giving guppy fish as larvae-eating fish, held a SAMBEL (Equal Learning) program, namely the installation of 3M Plus PSN stickers in each house as educational material as well as counseling activities for cadres and school children related to DHF, then held a BALADO program (Together Fighting Dengue with ovitrap) which is a modified SAMT ovitrap demonstration activity.

Abstract

Women who experience anxiety during pregnancy will experience more abnormal labor and can even be complicated by maternal and fetal death. Psychological conditions with anxiety and depression in pregnant women will affect the emergence of diseases and complications of pregnancy and childbirth, both in the mother and the baby. Anxiety in pregnancy has been proven to be reduced through physical exercise. One of the recommended physical exercises is yoga because it is low cost, easy to do and very beneficial for physical and psychological fitness. Yoga in pregnancy is more effective in reducing anxiety and depression, because in yoga in addition to doing physical exercise, pregnant women are equipped with positive affirmations so that mothers can accept physiological changes during pregnancy and childbirth. The general objective of this activity is that pregnant women at PMB Sri Rejeki DH Jabung Tanon Plupuh Sragen understand and can do prenatal yoga independently. The method of this activity is carried out by lecture, namely the method used as an introduction to provide knowledge about prenatal yoga for pregnant women in Trimester III and with discussion and questions and answers, as well as practice or demonstration of prenatal yoga for pregnant women. The media used is a poster of prenatal yoga for pregnant women in Trimester III. The conclusion of the community service activity is that pregnant women have understood about prenatal yoga to reduce anxiety levels in facing the labor process. This can be seen from the results of the pre-test and post-test, where before the counseling and practice of prenatal yoga, pregnant women did not understand several things about prenatal yoga by 40%. However, after the counseling, pregnant women became more knowledgeable about prenatal yoga, namely 90%. The results of this community service activity are that pregnant women can do prenatal yoga independently at home, where before the prenatal yoga training, pregnant women were not able to do prenatal yoga independently. Some pregnant women have reduced their anxiety after doing prenatal yoga with several independent implementations at home, with the help of prenatal yoga videos.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus type 2  is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia and endocrine dysfunction, including disturbances in luteinizing hormone, testosterone, and insulin levels. Moringa pterygosperma, known for its antidiabetic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, has been explored for its therapeutic potential in mitigating diabetes-induced complications. Objective: The present study aimed to estimate the effects of Moringa pterygosperma extraction on endocrine and metabolic parameters against the diabetic rats induced by alloxan, by the mensurate the on LH, testosterone, glucose, and insulin levels. Methods: Forty adult male albino Wistar rats were used in the present study which was divided into four equal groups: Control, Negative Control, Treatment one which used 100 mg/kg extract, and Treatment two which used 200 mg/kg extract). Diabetes was induced with alloxan monohydrate (100 mg/kg). After 41 days, serum samples were analyzed for testosterone, LH, glucose, and insulin concentrations. Results: The NC group showed significant reductions in testosterone (0.0926 ± 0.0081 ng/mL) and insulin (0.560 ± 0.09274 µIU/mL) levels, with increased luteinizing hormone (0.592 ± 0.03 ng/mL) and glucose (464.6 ± 18.71 mg/dL) concentrations, indicating severe endocrine and metabolic disruptions. Treatment with Moringa pterygosperma extract significantly improved these parameters in a dose-dependent manner. The T2 group exhibited near-normal levels of testosterone (0.1769 ± 0.01 ng/mL), insulin (2.140 ± 0.1435 µIU/mL), LH (0.3163 ± 0.063 ng/mL), and glucose (105.8 ± 9.34 mg/dL).
