Abstract

This research aims to find out (1) how to apply Google CS First for English vocabulary learning and (2) how are the students respond by using Google CS First in English vocabulary learning. This is a qualitative descriptive research, while the instruments used in this research are field notes and observation checklists, from the results of the research it is known that for the application of Google CS First itself there are 19 steps which are divided into two stages, the first is the preparation stage, this is the stage where the teacher made English vocabulary learning media using Google CS First. the next stage is the implementation stage, where the learning media that has been created using Google CS First is applied in the classroom. Furthermore, students' responses to the use of Google CS First gave a positive response, judging from the results of the first day of learning that did not use Google CS First, from the six aspects of activity observed, five of them showed a poor response, but on the second day of observation where learning was using Google CS First, the 6 aspects observed showed a fairly possitive response, and it can be concluded that Google CS First is the right learning media to make students more enthusiastic in participating in learning

Abstract

The research question in this research is how effective classroom learning is using asynchronous learning with the purpose to determine the effectiveness of learning in class by observing students' ability to accept and understand a material with asynchronous method. The research method in this research uses a qualitative descriptive methodology. Descriptive qualitative research method is a non-experimental research method that is relatively easy. This research method is used to describe qualitative data obtained related to the state of the subject of a population. The participants in this study are English education students Muhammadiyah University in Makassar. Purposive sampling is use by the researcher at this time. The result of the research reveal that , it can be said that online learning is effective because of the data obtained by many existing courses. using asynchronous learning methods in learning, namely by using Google Classroom as a learning application that is often used because it has many features that greatly support the effectiveness of learning and some student opinions from interviews regarding the effectiveness of online asynchronous learning.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out the students’ perception of the use of Google meet application in English learning at eleventh grade students of MA Guppi Samata Gowa. The researcher used quantitative descriptive research. The sample of this research was eleventh grade students of MA Guppi Samata Gowa which consist of 20 students. The sample was taken by using questioner with Google form. Based on the findings, it was found that students gave positive perception on the use of Google meet in teaching English, the positive response came from their experience in learning process. The result of the research indicated that based on the Likert’s score analysis there were 12 (85,7%) out of the students was categorized positive perception in which score classification is 42-70, beside that there were 2 students (14,3%) had neutral perception and none of students have negative perception. It was categorized that Google meet used in teaching English effective to apply, it helps the learning teaching process in the class. The recommendation for the future research to conduct a research related to the using of Google meet in teaching and learning procces such as kahoot, as the advance of tecnology keep increasing time by time.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text with audiobased asynchronous approach as remote learning at second grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Makassar. The researcher used quantitative research. The sample of this research was second grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Makassar, which consisted of 25 students. The sample was taken by using pre-test and post-test questions. Based on the findings, it was found that the students improved in teaching reading comprehension in narrative tect with an audio-based asynchronous approach as a form of remote learning. The results of this research showed that the score of pre-test was 52.6 and post-test was 78. This research also showed the value of t-test was higher than the value of t-table (T-test > T-table). The value of t-test was 7.56 and the value of t-table was 2.063. it means the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher concluded that the audio-based asynhrnous approach as remote learning was an excellent method for enhancing students reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether or not the use of paragraph graphic organizer from Brain POP can improve the writing ability of the eleventh grade students of SMA Datuk ribandang. The subjects of this research consisted of 54 students and it was divided into 2 classes, 27 students for control classand 27 students for experimental class at the eleventh grade of SMA Datuk Ribandang. The method that was used by the researcher in this research was quasi-experimental design which involved two classes with different treatment, namely experimental class and control class. The instruments used for collecting data namely writing test.  The result of the data indicated that, the use of graphic organizer from BrainPop is effective than conventional (free writing) technique in improving students’ writing ability. Graphic organizer from BrainPop helps to make easier for the students in improving their writing ability. It is proved by the hypothesis result where p value (0.000) is smaller than α value (0.05). And it is also proved by the mean score of pre-test and post-test in experimental class and control class. It shows that pre-test mean score in experimental class is bigger than control class both content (24.44 > 22.22), organization (20.55 > 20.37), language use (23.52 > 21.29) and Writing Ability (68.51 > 63.88). Then, post-test mean score in experimental class is bigger than control class both content (33.15 > 29.07), organization (28.88 > 27.78), language use (31.48 > 27.03) and writing ability (93.51 > 83.88).It means that graphic organizer helps the students in increasing their writing ability and also can be an effective tool used in the writing process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze pedagogic practices and changes in ICT in the learning and achievement of certified English teachers at SMPN 28 Selayar. This study uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach, using data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation studies.Based on the findings, it was found that pedagogic practices and ICT changes in English learning were very good, this was seen from the enthusiastic English teachers in developing the potential of students, teachers always motivate students in the teaching and learning process to be more active in learning so that the potential possessed by students can increase. The learning activities carried out by the teacher are not only listening to learning in the classroom but also outside the classroom using several teaching methods. Group discussions and question and answer are methods that are very liked by students, of course, supported by learning media such as LCD projectors, radios, laptops and so on that can support learning so that students are highly motivated in participating in teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

This study aimed to discover students' perception of online speaking classes particularly about students' participation and classroom interaction using a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of this study were fourth-semester students of the English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The study used interviews as an instrument to collect in this study.Based on the results of the study, student participation in taking online speaking classes is very high, this can be seen from the activeness of students in participating starting from a high level of attendance, preparing before entering class, being active in class discussions, contributing to group assignments, and being active in their abilities. improved communication. In addition, students have a positive perspective on class interactions. This can be proven by the existence of various types of interactions during this online speaking class.

Abstract

This thesis aims to find out whether or not the E-Dictionary is effective in enhancing the students’ vocabulary mastery of VII A class of SMP Negeri 3 Bajeng.This research was a pre-experimental design that used pre-test and post-test. The population of this research is the VII grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Bajeng and to take the sample researcher used random cluster sampling. The research sample was 30 students. The research instrument was a vocabulary test consisting of 10 items of multiple choice.The result of the data shows that there was a difference between pre-test and post-test students. The main score of students before giving the treatment was 45 and it improved to 75.33 after applying the E-Dictionary. In addition, from t-test analysis, it was obtained that the t-test value was greater than t-table, and students’ vocabulary mastery in total (14.37>2.045). The hypothesis of this research can be concluded that Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) is accepted. It means that E-Dictionary was effective to enhance the students’ vocabulary.

Abstract

This research focused in optimizing the Discord application to enhance students' vocabulary in synchronous learning. The method used in this research was pre-experimental research method with one group pre-test and post-test design, and the data were collected by giving pre-test and post-test. The sample of this research was class VII A of SMP Negeri 5 Mandai. The sample consisted with 27 students. The population of this research was the first-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Mandai which consisted of 297 students in the academic year of 2021/2022. The sample was taken by purposive sampling technique to select the sample. The technique used for obtaining data was vocabulary test. The research findings showed that the mean score of the students in vocabulary was proved by post-test 72,77 was higher than the mean score of pre-tests 64,07. Furthermore, by the result of the hypothesis t-test value was 11,126 which mean higher than t-table 2,056. It means that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. Based on the findings that there was significance difference between the result of pre-test and post-test. Eventually, optimizing Discord application to the students’ vocabulary enhancement in synchronous learning was excellent to applied to the further research.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of text-to-speech software improves students listening skills.The researcher used Pre-Experimental design in the form of One Group Pre-test - Post-test design. There are two variables in this study. The first variable is a dependent variable and the second variable is an independent variable. Dependent variables are listening, meanwhile, the independent variable is Text-to-speech software. The population in this study is the students of SMPN 21 Makassar and the sample of this study is the 3rd-grade students where the class consists of 18 students. The instruments that the researcher used in this study are tests.The results of the research is The used Text to Speech Software were able to improve the students’ listening skill at the second at the 3rd GRADE SMPN 21 MAKASSAR. Based on the result of the reseaarch. The mean score of Pre-Test is 62,16 and the Post-Test mean score is 69,44. Based on the difference from the mean score students get in lestening skill show the improvement from pre-test to post-test where the increase of students increased by 12%. The improvement of students’ achievement significantly.
