Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of optimal collaboration between the Village Government and the community in the development of mangrove educational tourism in Babakan Village, Pangandaran District. The problems found include limited budgets for the procurement of educational infrastructure, low community participation, and lack of innovation from the management. This research aims to find out the extent to which the collaboration is running. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through literature studies, structured interviews, and observations. The results of the study show that the collaboration that has been established has not been optimal. Barriers include limited time and resources to support intensive communication, information complexity that reduces mutual trust and understanding, and differences in priorities and participation saturation that weaken commitment. Efforts that have been made include simplifying information through visual/digital media, establishing more informal discussion forums, and allocating more adequate resources to support sustainable development. It is necessary to increase the role and synergy between all parties so that the development of mangrove educational tourism can run more effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

The dance work BIT-BIT was inspired by the social phenomenon of forest exploitation currently occurring in the Mentawai Islands. This work embodies resistance and prayer against forest exploitation, which impacts the lives and culture of the Mentawai people. This work was performed on the Arena stage of the Boestanoel Arifin Adam Auditorium, Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Padangpanjang. The work is divided into three parts. In the first part, the artist interprets the chanting of Urai and the property of Jejeneng to gain strength from ancestral spirits to ward off evil spirits. In the second part, the artist interprets foot stomping as a form of resistance against forest exploitation. In the third part, the artist interprets Urai as a symbol of prayer and hope to voice the Mentawai people's concerns about forest exploitation.

Abstract

The Titik Temu dance piece was inspired by a building found in a cultural procession, the Alekbajawek. Within this procession, a structure, called a kajanglako, is constructed for the needs of the Alek. The artist's work focuses on the meaning of the Kajanglako structure, namely the old pillar and the long batik cloth, which represent the important roles of men and women in this procession, without which the procession would be impossible. Awareness of the importance of these roles is discussed in the Titik Temu dance piece. This work utilizes Alma M. Hawkins' dance creation approach in her book Creating Through Dance and Choreography: Form, Technique, and Content. This approach consists of stages: data collection and field observation, exploration, improvisation, formation, and evaluation. The work is also enhanced by the use of lighting to depict the atmosphere and conflict in finding decisions when establishing the Kajanglako. The Titah Titik Temu dance piece utilizes an abstract style and is performed on the proscenium stage of the Hurijah Adam performance building.

The research method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis. All data obtained, both written and field data, are described and then analyzed according to the proposed research problem. The theory used is the textual theory (form, technique, and style) proposed by Y. Sumandiyo Hadi, and the preservation theory proposed by Edi Sedyawati. The results indicate that the Piriang Pandai Sikek Dance is a traditional dance depicting the routines of animals and the farming habits of the Pandai Sikek community. This dance is a typical Pandai Sikek dance that can only be performed by the native Pandai Sikek community. To ensure this dance is not lost, preservation efforts are being carried out by providing training to the younger generation in Pandai Sikek Village.

Abstract

The Rang Babanjuang dance is inspired by a cultural phenomenon in the Dharmasraya region, specifically on the Dareh River, namely the activities of farmers in building gaduang-gaduang (a kind of structure) in rice fields and plantations. The construction of gaduang-gaduang embodies the values of togetherness, one of which is mutual cooperation. This dance expresses how farmers carry out their work cooperatively, embodying the values of togetherness. Rang Babanjuang is a contemporary group dance with an abstract style and cultural theme, utilizing dance movements and techniques. To interpret ideas in accordance with the concept being developed, this work uses the methods of Alma M. Hawkins, namely data collection and field observation, exploration, improvisation, formation, and evaluation. This work involves seven male dancers.
