Abstract

The Healthy Indonesia Program with Family Approach (PIS-PK) is a primary initiative enforced by the current government to enhance the quality of family life and public health. In this context, the assessment of the Healthy Family Index (IKS) is essential for implementing appropriate interventions and efforts to prevent chronic diseases at the family level. Measurement indicators of IKS include healthy, pre-healthy, and unhealthy family categories. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze IKS based on PIS-PK in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi in Indonesia. A quantitative design with an analytical survey was used to measure IKS across the entire family population in the Jeneponto Regency Health Center working area, totaling 1,321 households. The total sampling method was applied, and data from 12 healthy family indicators were evaluated following the IKS formula. The results showed that the average IKS value ranged from 0.59 to 0.77, representing unhealthy, pre-healthy, and healthy family, which constituted 12%, 54.35%, and 33.5% of the examined population, respectively. High numbers of family fell in the pre-healthy and unhealthy categories due to limited participation in family planning program (55.11%), non-utilization of official facilities for childbirth (11.65%), lack of exclusive breastfeeding practices over 7–23 months (10.14%), and absence of weight monitoring at Posyandu (5.59%). Consequently, integrated efforts and cross-sectoral engagement are crucial for improving IKS status.

Abstract

Medical waste management is an important aspect of maintaining environmental health, especially in healthcare facilities such as community health centers (Puskesmas). Poorly managed medical waste can become a source of disease transmission and environmental contamination. This study aims to analyze the medical waste management system of the immunization program in 16 Puskesmas in Manado City, focusing on the behavior of personnel, available facilities, knowledge of staff, as well as the processes of transportation, storage, and disposal of medical waste. The results indicate that 100% of Puskesmas have met the standards regarding the behavior of immunization staff, available facilities, and staff knowledge. However, there are discrepancies in the waste transportation process in 31.2% of Puskesmas, indicating delays in waste transportation of more than one week, and even up to 18 months in some locations. Budget limitations and transportation contracts are the main obstacles in waste management. The waste storage in 68.8% of Puskesmas is in accordance with the standards set by the Minister of Health Regulation (Permenkes) 2019, which requires waste to be stored for a maximum of one week or in cold storage for up to 90 days  Keywords: Immunizatiom Polution, Waste Management, Community Health Cantres

Abstract

Disposal of detergent waste into water bodies, both rivers and seas will affect the biota in the water. The effect of laundry detergent waste on tilapia mortality has a significant effect and difference at each concentration. The higher the concentration of detergent waste, the higher the mortality of tilapia. The physiological index of tilapia has a significant effect on the exposure to detergent waste. Detergent wastewater treatment methods are needed as an alternative to solving the problem of wastewater treatment before being discharged into the environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of limestone and coconut shell filter media in reducing the content of detergent, BOD and COD pollutants in wastewater. The research method is a quasi-experimental approach with a pre-test – post-test design approach. The population and sample of this research are wastewater taken from laundry or used laundry in Paal Dua village, Manado city. The results showed a reduction in detergent content from 29.98 mg/l to 0.08 mg/l with a percentage reaching 99.69%. The parameters of BOD and COD decreased by 57.5% and 76.16%, respectively. Based on the results of the T test, there are differences in the average results of measurements before and after processing. Conclusion : Limestone and coconut shell can be used as alternative filter media for detergent wastewater treatment.
