Abstract

Cartoon movie was an alternative that can be used as a learning media in the teaching and learning process. This study examines the effect of cartoon movies on students’ vocabulary mastery. A quasi-experimental design was used, involving 40 seventh-grade students from MTSN 5 Kaur, divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was taught using cartoon movies, while the control group received conventional vocabulary instruction. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analysed using t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in the vocabulary mastery of the experimental group compared to the control group. The use of audiovisual media made learning more engaging, interactive, and enjoyable, leading to better retention and comprehension. It can be attributed to their visual and auditory elements, which provide contextual reinforcement, making word acquisition more intuitive and engaging. Additionally, social strategies, such as peer discussions and cooperative learning, further enhance vocabulary retention by encouraging active participation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of the tax amnesty policy in Indonesia to strengthening economic resilience, focusing on two implementation periods: the 2016–2017 tax amnesty program and the 2022 voluntary disclosure program. It employs a qualitative approach using the library research method, examining secondary data from journal articles, government reports, and policy documents. The findings indicate that the implementation of the 2016-2017 tax amnesty program generated revenues of IDR 135 trillion, while the 2022 voluntary disclosure program contributed IDR 61 trillion. In the short term, the tax amnesty program helped increase tax revenues from previously non-compliant taxpayers and encouraged the repatriation of overseas assets. More importantly, the policy laid the foundation for a more comprehensive and credible national tax database. Although it received both support and criticism regarding its long-term effectiveness and the potential for moral hazard, the policy has demonstrated a partial contribution to fiscal space and revenue capacity, which are key components of economic resilience. These findings suggest that future tax reforms should strike a balance between fiscal incentives and stronger enforcement of tax compliance.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of dictation strategies on the listening skill of Class X students in English lessons at MA Pancasila, Bengkulu City. It addresses a research gap in the limited number of studies exploring the use of dictation strategies in senior high school English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test model. The sample consisted of 17 students, divided into two groups: an experimental group (9 students) and a control group (8 students). Listening skill was assessed using two instruments: a fill-in-the-blank listening test and comprehension questions. The treatment was conducted over seven learning sessions using thematic dialogue material. The findings revealed a notable difference in improvement between the two groups. The experimental group’s mean score increased by +15.89 points (from 69.67 to 85.56), while the control group improved by +7.12 points (from 69.63 to 76.75). Although the difference was not statistically significant (t-value 1.27 < t-table 2.131), the substantial practical gains and a decrease in the standard deviation in the experimental group indicated a positive effect of the dictation strategy. These results support the theories of Vandergrift, L. & Goh (2012), who argue that active listening strategies like dictation can enhance students’ focus and comprehension. Moreover, the findings suggest that dictation can help narrow performance gaps among students, leading to more equitable learning outcomes. Therefore, integrating dictation into EFL curricula may serve as an effective alternative strategy for improving listening skills in secondary education.

Abstract

Extracurricular activities are activities carried out by students outside of school hours, either after school or at certain times, depending on school policy. The main purpose of this activity is to deepen students’ interests in academic and non-academic fields. This study aims to determine the implementation and implementation of Rohis (Islamic Spirituality) extracurricular activities and their influence on the development of social skills of students at SMKN 3 Kota Bengkulu. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a significant influence between Rohis extracurricular activities and the development of students’ social skills. The data collection method used was a questionnaire to obtain data on Rohis extracurricular activities and social skills. Data analysis was carried out using the Pearson Product Moment formula for instrument reliability and Cronbach’s Alpha for instrument validity. In addition, normality and linearity tests were also used before conducting correlation analysis. The results of the study showed that there was a positive relationship between Rohis extracurricular activities and the development of students’ social skills, with a moderate level of relationship (0.578). Based on the performance of the determination coefficient, Rohis extracurricular activities have a contribution of 33% in influencing the development of students’ social skills, while the other 67% is influenced by other factors such as family, school, and community.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of animated video media on the science learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN 77 Seluma, who have difficulty reading due to less participatory learning methods. Using a quasi-experimental design, this study compared class VB (experimental) using animated videos with class VA (control) with conventional learning. The sampling technique was propesive sampling with data collection instruments through observation, interviews, documentation, and multiple-choice tests. Data analysis used normality tests, homogeneity, t-tests, and simple linear regression. The results showed significant differences between the two groups (mean post-test value of the experiment = 96 vs control = 74). The t-test proved the effect of animated media (sig. 0.003 <0.05) so that Ha was accepted. These findings prove that animated videos are effective in improving science learning outcomes through a more interactive and enjoyable learning approach.

Abstract

This study aims to identify obstacles in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in the subject of fine arts for grade 1 at MI Plus Nur Rahma, Bengkulu City. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of teachers, students, principals, and curriculum vice principals. The results of the study indicate that although the Independent Curriculum has been implemented in accordance with government policy, its implementation is faced with a number of significant obstacles. Teachers have difficulty in understanding and designing appropriate teaching tools, especially in compiling fine arts teaching modules that are relevant to the characteristics of students. Limited training and mentoring cause teachers to still be trapped in the lecture method and are less able to apply differentiated learning which is the core of the Independent Curriculum. Students also show low active participation in learning due to methods that are not yet student-centered. In addition, the lack of facilities and infrastructure and the lack of teacher understanding of the use of technology also exacerbate these conditions. These findings provide a real picture of the challenges at the education unit level in implementing curriculum reform and the importance of continuously improving teacher capacity.
