The Journal of Social Work and Science Education (JSWSE) is firmly established as an authoritative voice in the world of social work and science education with E-ISSN: 2723-6919 and P-ISSN 2746-0827. JSWSE publishes scholarly papers that focus on the social science, teaching and learning, science in school settings ranging from early childhood to university education. It bridges the gap between research and practice, providing information, ideas and opinion. As a truly international journal, JSWSE welcomes contributions from any country provided that the authors explain their local contexts and demonstrate the significance of their work for a global readership. Special emphasis is placed on applicable research relevant to social sciences, educational practice, educational realities in systems, schools, colleges and universities. JSWSE is concerned with social science and science education but also welcomes manuscripts on the integration of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or, geography, and the arts. It is published by Yayasan Sembilan Pemuda Indonesia and it will regularly be published three times a year, in April, August, and December.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the motivation of teachers in public elementary schools in Payaraman District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. This research was conducted on teachers in Payaraman district, Ogan Ilir Regency. The sample size was taken as many as 102 teachers. The sampling technique is intended for sampling, namely where the respondents are some of the teachers in Payaraman District, Ogan Ilir Regency. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires using a 5-point Likert scale to measure 25 statement items. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Findings have shown that teachers have a high motivation to go to work and have a job as a teacher.

Abstract

In the early stages of collecting articles based on the variables contained in the title, namely exploring student learning strategies and teacher teaching strategies in reading comprehension in junior high schools. This study reviews and synthesizes existing research and literature on student learning strategies and teaching strategies in reading comprehension. This study examines research that investigates various types of learning strategies used by students, such as meta-cognitive strategies, memory strategies, compensation strategies, affective strategies, cognitive strategies, and social strategies. In addition, this study also explores strategies used by teachers to improve students’ reading comprehension skills, including reciprocal strategies and question-answer relationships. Through a comprehensive literature review the researcher uses 8 articles as references to write the research, this study aims to provide insight into the effectiveness and impact of various learning strategies used by students and the strategies used by teachers in teaching reading comprehension.

Abstract

The low results of students' long pass at the BBSA soccer school cannot be separated from the training process that is being held. The purpose of this research is to increase the long pass results of BBSA Betung soccer school students through plyometric exercises through a demonstration approach. Implementation of the long pass with plyometric training through the demonstration method approach, is to follow the five stages of the demonstration cycle, namely ask (ask), invest (investigate), create (produce), discuss (discussion), and reflect (reflection). The research method used is the research method. This research is included in experimental research using sports action research (PTO) or commonly called PTK with actions carried out in two cycles. The research instruments used were pre-test/post-test sheets and educators/students. The research subjects were 18 BBSA football school students. The results showed that the results of plyometric training had increased after applying plyometric training through a demonstration approach. The results of the ability of the BBSA football school students to practice plyometrics using the demonstration approach increased.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of traditional games on the physical condition of elementary school children. Because of the lack of enthusiasm to move, the child looks unenthusiastic. This of course weakens the condition of students. It also weakens children's mobility and physical condition, and they get sick easily. The purpose of this study: The effect of traditional games on improving student fitness at SDN 02 Riang Bandung. One type of research is library research or often called library research. The nature of the descriptive analysis of this research is so that readers can understand it well. The data used in this study is additional data obtained from the results of research conducted by previous researchers. The data collection method used in this study is the method of recording or documentation. The data analysis used in this article is annotated bibliography analysis. Based on the literature review, it can be stated that the application of traditional games can be a solution to improve the physical fitness of elementary school children. Supporting factors are good student motivation, the role of parents and the environment, and sufficient opportunities to play.

Abstract

Futsal is a team sport where each team has 5 players. There are so many factors that affect students’ interest in futsal sports such as factors from within themselves and from outside themselves in the form of encouragement from the closest people, as well as the environment. This study aims to determine the extent of students’ interest in participating in extracurricular futsal at SMPN 03 Muaradua Kisam. This research is quantitative descriptive research with a questionnaire approach. The population in this study was all futsal extracurricular students, while sampling in this study was by using the Saturated sampling method, where all members of the population were used as samples, totaling 30 people. The analysis technique in this study is a descriptive analysis technique with a quantitative approach, then the research data is analyzed by statistical methods, while the calculation of questionnaire data uses percentages with tables and graphs. From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the interest of students in participating in extracurricular futsal at SMPN 03 Muaradua Kisam from a population of 30 students who got Very High scores amounted to 16 students with a percentage (53%), High scores amounted to 10 students with a percentage (33%), Medium grades amounted to 2 students with a percentage (7%), Low grades amounted to 1 student (3%), Very Low student grades amounted to 1 student with a percentage (3%).

Abstract

This study aims to (1) identify and describe the leadership style adopted by the Principal of SMP 5 Tulung Selapan, (2) determine the impact of this leadership style on school management and (3) strategies for improving teacher performance. The method used in this research is qualitative research using in-depth interviews which have been conducted directly with the informants. The validity of the data was carried out with the persistence of observers and the triangulation method. The conclusions obtained in this research are, (1) The principal’s leadership in an effort to improve teacher performance at SMP Negeri 5 Tulung Selapan, Tulung Selapan sub-district, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency has been carried out quite well even though it has not been supported by complete facilities (2) Teacher performance in carrying out learning is good enough, and (3) the principal’s efforts to improve teacher performance in carrying out learning are carried out, among others, through several activities, namely: a) carrying out teacher performance assessments, b) carrying out academic supervision of learning carried out by teachers in class, c) carrying out follow-up results supervision.

Abstract

The aim in the study is to comprehend and determine how students’ anxiety and ability to use grammar influence their English achievement in the X-grade at three schools in the districts of Semendawai Barat and Cempaka, OKU East regency. For this study, ex post facto design was applied. At SMA N 1 Cempaka, SMA N 2 Semendawai West, and SMA N 1 Semendawai West, this research was carried out. The 96 participants from 3 different schools made up the sample. In this study, several data testing methods were employed, including normality tests, multicollinearity tests, heteroscedasticity tests, linearity tests, autocorrelation tests, correlation studies of the r-product moment, simple regression analyses, and double regression analyses. The findings of this study demonstrated that: 1) grammar proficiency significantly influences English success; 2) The achievement of students in English has been considerably impacted by students’ worry; and 3) Although only by 10.8%, grammatical proficiency and anxiety together have a considerable impact on English learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was the effect of the game hadang and Tempurung Bakiak on the physical fitness of students in learning physical education, sports, and health at SMP Negeri 27 Palembang. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 27 Palembang which is located on Jl. Rejung No. 198, Sako Baru, Kec. Sako, Palembang City, South Sumatra 30961. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a pre-test and post-test one group design. The data collection technique used the bleed test technique or a 20-meter back-and-forth test. The population of this study were all students of class VIII at SMP Negeri 27 Palembang, while there were students in class VIII.2 and VIII.3 with a total of 65 people. The data analysis technique used is the inferential data analysis technique with the help of the t test SPSS version 23.00 for windows. Based on the discussion that has been stated above, it can be concluded that: (1) there is an effect of obstacle games on students’ physical fitness in learning physical education, sports, and health; (2) The Effect of Playing Coconut Shell Clogs on Students’ Physical Fitness in Learning Physical Education, Sports, and Health.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the principal’s strategy in increasing teacher motivation. at State Senior High School 4 Ogan Komering Ulu, jl. Cabbage. Wahab Sarobu Air Paoh Baturaja Ogan Komering Ulu. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. This research was conducted at State Senior High School 4 Ogan Komering Ulu, jl. Cabbage. Wahab Sarobu Air Paoh Baturaja Ogan Komering Ulu with the subject of this research is the teacher. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study are the steps of the principal’s leadership strategy in increasing teacher work motivation at SMA Negeri 4 OKU by giving appreciation or appreciation to teachers who have worked well, providing training and self-development to teachers to improve their quality, providing an environment which is comfortable for all school members to work well, gives freedom to teachers to work more creatively in teaching, besides that the principal determines the targets that must be achieved. By making a clear work program, teachers will feel directed and motivated to work better.

Abstract

Study This aim for analyzing management learning-based education character at school. This was implemented in SD Negeri 1 Jejawi. Method used is method qualitative. Data collection tool using method interview, documentation, observation as well as study library. Data analysis using qualitative descriptive analysis with stages gathering data, data reduction, data presentation, with draw conclusion. Research results state that planning learning drip focus on improvement matched performance with development character students. Implementation learning more prioritize on aspects formation character-based learning practice than theory in order students active during the learning process and can apply values character in activity learning, doing characteristic approach habituation to Shiva from approach with penalties and sanctions. Evaluation focuses on achievement or success implementation learning. Achievement implementation learning based character rated in a manner comprehensive based on aspect affective, cognitive as well as psychomotor student.
