Abstract

The dialogue and narration in the novel Kita Pergi Hari Ini by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie are interesting to study in more depth. The researcher uses case grammar based on the perspective of Charles J. Fillmore, a modified form of generative transformation theory with verbs as the central part of a sentence and has a semantic relationship in various noun phrases; this relationship is called case. The use of Charles J. Fillmore's perspective case grammar as an analysis tool for the novel Kita Pergi Hari Ini by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie aims to examine two aspects, namely modality and preposition. Researchers use descriptive qualitative research. The data collection technique for this research is the reading and notetaking technique. The researcher read the Kita Pergi Hari Ini novel as primary data and Charles J. Fillmore's perspective case grammar theory as supporting data. After reading, the researcher noted essential things to display as data. The data collection technique used in this research is the Miles and Huberman Technique, which consists of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study show that four modalities were found, namely tense composed of past, present, and future; negation, mode consisting of indicative, imperative, interrogative, conditional, and subjunctive; and aspect consisting of non-progressive, as well as eight propositions which consisting of agentive, goal, experience, time, accompanying, locative, objective, and source.

Abstract

This study examines boso rexmax, a unique reversed language from Kelurahan Kauman, Ponorogo, which developed as a secret language during the colonial era. The research analyzes the linguistic characteristics, social functions, and contemporary dynamics of boso rexmax usage. Using a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic approach, this study involved participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of linguistic artifacts over four months. Abstract

The Indonesian policy can make Indonesia the official language. Although Indonesian comes from Pasar Malay, through the Youth Pledge process, it can change its status to Indonesian. The implication of Indonesian as an official language is that it is used in education as the language of instruction. However, in Indonesia, there are types of schools with an international curriculum that use English. This study discusses the position of Indonesians in the global curriculum school language policy document. The research method uses content analysis that focuses on the position of the Indonesian language. This research uses Spolsky's language policy theory in the form of ideology, practice, and language management. The study results reveal that Indonesians still have an essential position in the language policy.  Although English is the lingua franca, the primary language of instruction, and the medium of instruction, Sampoerna Academy still positions Indonesian as an essential language to be used and taught. This is in line with their ideology of upholding multiculturalism, multilingualism, and respect for the mother tongue. All the ideologies and philosophies of the language presented are also applied in language settings and practices.

Abstract

This study examines the nuanced application of binary oppositions in Tenas Effendy's "Pantun Kelakar," a collection of Malay jesting couplets. Through rigorous qualitative analysis of selected pantuns, we explore how binary opposition functions as a sophisticated literary device to encapsulate complex cultural wisdom and philosophical concepts inherent in the Malay worldview. Our research reveals that Effendy's pantuns ingeniously employ contrasting perspectives to illuminate multifaceted aspects of Malay life, mainly focusing on marital dynamics and societal attitudes towards physical differences and disabilities. The study demonstrates how these pantuns serve not merely as entertainment but as powerful vehicles for cultural expression, moral instruction, and subtle social commentary. By juxtaposing opposing viewpoints on issues such as having a cleft-lipped wife, multiple spouses, a beautiful wife, a mute wife, or a disabled husband, the pantuns encourage critical reflection on societal norms and values. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of Malay literature and culture, showcasing how traditional poetic forms can be analyzed using modern literary theory to yield profound insights into cultural values and philosophical outlooks. Our findings highlight the pantun's vital role in preserving and transmitting cultural wisdom across generations while revealing the sophisticated literary techniques employed in Malay oral traditions.
