Abstract

Background. This research addresses the intersection of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and women’s empowerment in Afghanistan, aligning with global initiatives and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study aims to provide nuanced insights into the multifaceted impact of ICT on financial independence, economic empowerment, and health outcomes among Afghan women. Purpose. The research employs a purposive sampling method, involving 170 participants from diverse regions in Afghanistan to ensure representation from areas with varying socio-economic and cultural characteristics. Through a mixed-methods approach, including structured surveys and qualitative analysis, the study seeks to understand the perceptions of ICT and its experiences with women’s empowerment. Method. Structured surveys cover demographics, ICT perceptions, and women’s empowerment experiences. Qualitative data undergo thematic analysis, while quantitative analysis utilizes statistical methods such as ANOVA, logistic regression, chi-square tests, binomial tests, and descriptive statistics. Results. The findings underscore a consensus among participants on the positive impact of ICT, particularly on financial independence, economic empowerment, and health outcomes. Associations between telemedicine, digital health, and improved women’s health are identified. Binomial tests highlight success in bridging the digital gender gap and enhancing awareness. Positive perceptions of social media, online communities, and digital advocacy in promoting gender equality are revealed through descriptive statistics. Conclusion. This study contributes novel insights by comprehensively examining the impact of ICT on women’s empowerment in Afghanistan, covering diverse dimensions such as financial independence, economic empowerment, and health outcomes. The robust mixed-methods approach yields unique findings that enrich the existing literature on ICT and women’s empowerment.

Abstract

Background. Collaborative learning is increasingly being implemented in elementary schools as an alternative to increase student creativity and motivation. However, the challenges and obstacles in its implementation need to be considered to understand its impact on learning effectiveness. Teachers should have many methods to make students happier and receive lessons well Purpose. This research aims to investigate the effect of the collaborative learning model on increasing student creativity and motivation at the elementary school level in West Sumatra. The main focus is to understand teachers’ perceptions of this model, identify the obstacles faced, and evaluate its effectiveness. Method. The research method used was a quantitative survey with 20 teachers from several elementary schools in West Sumatra district as respondents. Data collection was carried out through distributing questionnaires designed to measure teachers’ perceptions of the collaborative learning model, as well as its impact on student creativity and motivation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman approach.   Results. Analysis of the questionnaire results showed that the majority of teachers (75%) strongly agreed that the collaborative learning model had great potential to increase student creativity and motivation. However, the main challenge identified was the limited time in the established curriculum. Conclusion. Although the collaborative learning model is considered effective, teacher support and understanding needs to be improved through additional training. Strategic adjustments are also needed to overcome the constraints of time constraints and individual evaluations, as well as to understand more deeply differences in student skill levels. Overall, this learning model has great potential in increasing student motivation and creativity in elementary school, provided it is expanded and better supported by educators.

Abstract

Background. The Islamization of science was born because of the rapid development of Western science in the midst of the decline of Muslim science. So that many fields of science are adopted from Western understanding which tends to contain elements of secularism. In addition, the atomization of science that separates science and religion makes science further away from the concept of religion. To maintain the existence of Islamic science in this era, the Islamization of science was born as a solution, where this science combines the advantages of each without eliminating the sacredness of Islam in it. Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas is one of the figures in the Islamization of Science. Purpose. The purpose of this research is to find out how the application of Islamization according to Al Attas’ view in schools. Method. this research used a qualitative approach. With the case study method, students who study at the Quran Darul Fattah Boarding School South Lampung. The data collection technique is observation. Data analysis in this study is through data collection, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Results. The result of this research is that the Islamization of science has been implemented in this school which is contained in the curriculum, learning materials, character building outside the classroom and the involvement of student guardians.   Conclusion. The conclusion is that Islamization can be applied in schools and can be integrated with the existing system and in the daily lives of students in this school both related to subjects and norms inside and outside the classroom.

Abstract

Background. This research presents a comprehensive review of cybersecurity measures in the Internet of Things (IoT) era. The primary focus is on elucidating the evolving landscape of IoT cybersecurity, with specific attention to the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, and risk management. The study aims to identify key advancements, challenges, and opportunities in securing interconnected devices, offering valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals. Purpose. Employing a hybrid methodological design that combines elements from narrative synthesis and heuristic analysis, this study utilizes purposive and snowball sampling techniques to select diverse and pertinent sources. The integration of semantic analysis, leveraging natural language processing algorithms, enriches data interpretation. Collaborative intelligence from cybersecurity, machine learning, and IoT experts enhances the study's perspective. A proprietary algorithm, incorporating machine learning principles, enhances data collection efficiency. Method. The synthesis reveals a dynamic landscape marked by the symbiotic relationship between AI and IoT, fortifying defenses against cyber threats. Machine learning emerges as a potent ally, providing robust solutions for threat detection. The study identifies challenges in implementing cybersecurity measures in the IoT landscape, including data privacy, scalability, and regulatory compliance. Results. In conclusion, the review emphasizes the need for proactive and adaptive security strategies in the IoT era, highlighting the role of AI and collaborative interdisciplinary approaches. The study provides a roadmap for future research, policy formulation, and industry practices to fortify the security posture of the IoT ecosystem. Conclusion. This study has comprehensive review of IoT cybersecurity illuminates a dynamic landscape marked by the symbiotic relationship between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). The integration of AI signifies a paradigm shift towards proactive and adaptive security strategies, enhancing the resilience of IoT ecosystems against evolving cyber threats.

Abstract

Background. The learning process at the State School of Builders located in Aceh Tamiang, interpersonal communication is more intense between teachers and students, because one of the learning methods for students with special needs is individualised learning. Purpose. This research aims to analyze how the teacher’s interpersonal communication model develops self relliance for junior high school deaf students at the Pembina Aceh Tamiang State Special School.Not only that, what communication barriers occur and efforts to overcome these communication barriers. Researchers use the interpersonal communication model and symbolic interaction theory from George Herbert Mead. Method. This research uses descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach, with research subjects consisting of 4 middle school level teachers who are deaf. Data collection techniques were semi-structured interviews, passive participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis uses Miles, Huberman and Saldana theoretical techniques, namely data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The data validity technique that researchers use is source triangulation. Results. The results showed that the teacher’s interpersonal communication model in developing students’ self reliance at the Aceh Taming Pembina State Special School uses non-verbal and verbal communication. However, teachers often use non-verbal communication because of students’ limitations in hearing, making teachers and deaf students when interacting more dominantly use non-verbal communication. The effectiveness of teachers’ interpersonal communication with deaf students can be seen through 4 aspects, namely openness, empathy, supportive attitude, and positive attitude. There are 4 factors inhibiting teachers’  interpersonal communication with deaf students in improving the independence attitude of deaf students, namely: physical interference, physiological interference, psychological interference, and semantic interference. Conclusion. The conclusion of this research is that the teacher’s interpersonal communication model in developing student independence at the Tamiang Aceh Pembina State Special School uses non-verbal and verbal forms of communication. The meaning of verbal communication for tunagrahita is a sentence or utterance spoken from the mouth, or called a mouth mimic, while the nonverbal communication they use is called sign language or symbol language.

Abstract

Background. The use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in Ubiquitous Learning in higher education is increasingly important along with the development of 21st century internet technology. Reliance on the internet for information creates a new paradigm in learning, where IoT plays a key role supporting an equitable and integrated learning experience. Universities as centers of higher education need to adopt solutions using IoT technology to overcome problems in the context of Ubiquitous Learning. Purpose. The purpose of this research is to identify solutions that can be adopted by universities to overcome Internet of Things problems in the context of Ubiquitous Learning. Method. This research uses a quantitative methodology with a survey method approach. A total of 30 students were randomly selected as samples to provide adequate representation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles Huberman technique, involving the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. A questionnaire was developed to explore students’ perceptions and experiences regarding the use of IoT in the learning process. Results. From the analysis results, the majority of students show a good understanding of IoT concepts and are actively involved in learning using this technology. Although some face obstacles, the majority of respondents believe that the use of IoT can increase learning effectiveness and really hope that there will be increased student engagement through IoT technology. These results provide a strong basis for developing better implementation strategies, encouraging universities to continue to innovate in integrating IoT technology to improve student learning experiences in the future.   Conclusion. Universities are advised to continue to innovate, integrating IoT strategically to improve the student learning experience. This shows the significant impact of IoT in designing the future of learning in higher education.

Abstract

Background. The first education that children encounter is from their parents. However, not all parents understand the importance of education. The reality, family becomes a place of ineffective communication. Office of Women’s Empowerment Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Office of Medan Johor Sub-district, Medan City, in 2022 states that verbal communication violence is a problem today. Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Medan City in 2023, Kelurahan Pangkalan Mahsyur is the urban village with the largest population in the Medan Johor sub-district. Purpose. The purpose of this research is to determine and analyze the effect of verbal and nonverbal communication violence on adolescent self-disclosure. Method. This research method uses a quantitative approach with descriptive and correlation methods. The data collection technique is probability sampling with 370 samples in Pangkalan Mahsyur Village. Data shows the variable of verbal communication violence, the dimension of yelling obtained a value of 38.9%. Nonverbal communication violence variable, facial expression dimension obtained a value of 41.8%. Results. The results of The results show that the hypothesis H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted that there is an influence of verbal and nonverbal communication violence on self-disclosure. influence of verbal and nonverbal communication violence on the self-disclosure of adolescents in adolescents in Pangkalan Mahsyur Village, Medan Johor Subdistrict, Medan City, with an influence of 5.1%. with a magnitude of influence of 5.1%. Conclusion. The conclusion in this study found that verbal communication violence has a greater influence than nonverbal communication violence.  This means, there is a low categorised relationship between the relationship of verbal communication violence, nonverbal communication violence with adolescent self-disclosure in adolescents.

Abstract

Background. 21st century education emphasizes the importance of developing high-level thinking skills (HOTS) for students, including analysis, evaluation and synthesis skills. Seamless learning, which integrates technology and media, becomes relevant in this context because it creates a dynamic and connected learning experience. Purpose. This research aims to measure the increase in students’ critical thinking abilities through seamless learning using quasi-experimental methods. By adopting this approach, the research seeks to provide empirical evidence about the effectiveness of seamless learning in improving students’ critical thinking abilities. Method. This research methodology takes a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods. Data was collected from a school in West Sumatra, with research subjects being grade 7 students. Data collection was carried out through critical thinking ability test instruments before and after the learning period. Analysis was carried out using the t-test in SPSS to compare the two groups. Results. The results of the analysis showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups, with a greater increase in critical thinking ability scores in the experimental group. The resulting t value was 0.05, with a p value of less than 0.05, indicating that the difference between the two groups did not occur by chance. This confirms that seamless learning has a positive impact in improving students’ critical thinking abilities.   Conclusion. These findings highlight the success of seamless learning in improving students’ critical thinking abilities. However, this study has limitations, such as the relatively small sample size and limited duration of the intervention. Further research with larger sample sizes is recommended to deepen this understanding.

Abstract

Background. The use of mobile devices has brought significant changes to learning in elementary schools, offering quick access to learning resources and increasing interactivity in the learning process. This reflects a paradigm shift in education towards the use of technology as an effective and dynamic learning tool. Purpose. The aim of this research is to fill the existing knowledge gap in the literature by investigating the views of PGSD students and elementary school teachers regarding the use of mobile devices in learning at school base. It is hoped that this research can provide a deeper understanding of the potential of mobile devices in supporting the learning process at the basic level, as well as becoming a basis for developing more effective learning strategies in the future. Method. This research methodology uses a quantitative approach through a survey model involving 30 respondents, consisting of PGSD students and elementary school teachers. Data collection was carried out through distributing online questionnaires using Google Form. Data analysis was carried out using a quantitative data analysis approach, paying attention to the validity of the data through comparison with other relevant data sources. Results. The results of the questionnaire analysis show that the majority of students use mobile devices regularly, indicating widespread adoption of technology in the educational context. However, challenges that need to be overcome include a lack of training and support for educators, as well as school policies that may not fully support the integration of technology in the curriculum.   Conclusion. The integration of mobile devices in learning in elementary schools promises many benefits, but also faces challenges that need to be overcome. With adequate support, it is hoped that the use of mobile devices can become an effective and inclusive learning tool for all students, preparing them to face the demands of an increasingly digitally connected world.

Abstract

Background. Education in the 21st century has experienced significant changes with the development of digital technology. The use of media and technology in the learning process is becoming increasingly important to meet the demands of the times. One of the innovations that has emerged is the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), an online learning platform that provides open access to learning materials from various fields globally. MOOCs promise great flexibility and accessibility, which can increase participation in education. Purpose. This research aims to investigate the effect of MOOC learning duration on the achievement of educational students’ learning objectives. Method. The research method used is a quantitative approach with survey methods. A total of 30 education student respondents who had taken MOOC courses were the research subjects. Data was collected by filling out a questionnaire distributed via the WhatsApp group. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles Huberman technique to investigate the relationship between MOOC learning duration and achievement of learning objectives. Results. The research results showed that the majority of participants felt that the MOOC learning duration provided benefits in understanding the learning material and increasing their learning motivation. However, some participants felt neutral regarding the contribution of learning duration in completing assignments and exams. The majority of respondents did not feel a significant impact of longer duration on achieving higher learning goals.   Conclusion. Although MOOC learning duration provides benefits in understanding the material and learning motivation, there are several aspects that need to be considered. The role of other factors such as the quality of learning materials and interaction between participants and instructors may be more important in achieving learning objectives. Therefore, course organizers need to continue to monitor participant feedback and evaluate the learning duration offered to improve the learning experience in MOOCs.
