Abstract

This research is based on the development of photography not only as a service but also as a visual communication medium that can convey a message as well as the story in it. With the rapid development, types of photography have also developed further, one of which is prewedding photography. Govinda Rumi as one of the leading prewedding photographers in Indonesia managed to combine elements of a deep story with beautiful scenery in each of his prewedding photos. This research is intended to analyze the meaning of some of Govinda Rumi's prewedding photos. The approach used is Roland Barthes' Semiotics theory, which includes two stages of signification, namely denotative as the first stage and connotative as the second stage. This research was conducted with a qualitative method of descriptive type. Data collection was done through observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that Govinda Rumi was able to present a story in each of his prewedding photos without putting aside other aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the structure of the presentation of Barzanji at the Aqiqah event in Batu Hampa, Koto XI Tarusan District, South Coast, with a focus on the regilius elements and local culture integrated in this ritual. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with artists, religious leaders, and local communities, as well as visual documentation of the Aqiqah event. The results of the study show that the structure of presenting Barzanji consists of five main stages: preparation, opening, reading of the Barzanji text, joint prayer, and closing. The preparation stage involves arranging the venue and inviting religious leaders and the surrounding community. The reading of the barzanji text is carried out alternately by the artists. The joint prayer, led by Ustaz, became the core of the event with the aim of asking for blessings for the newborn. The event ended with a meal together as a symbol of gratitude and togetherness. The reading of Barzanji in the context of Aqiqah not only functions as a religious ritual, but also strengthens social and cultural relations in the community, and as a religious ritual this event is also a means of educating Islamic values for the younger generation and strengthening social ties in the community. This research provides new insights into the importance of preserving the Barzanji tradition in West Sumatra which is rich in regilian and cultural values.

Abstract

Research aims to explore the perceptions of women aged 21-38 years old on self-confidence, feelings of insecurity, and self-love through an online survey conducted using Google Forms. The survey results show that 98.4% of respondents experience feelings of insecurity, while 75.8% show interest in attending self-development activities such as beauty classes to enhance self-confidence, and 91.3% show interest in makeup. Interviews were conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the beauty class activities conducted by OMG Beauty in Cirebon, which focus on developing makeup skills and using beauty products, but the interviews also revealed that these activities do not fully reflect OMG Beauty's brand image, which promotes the message "confidence and optimism". Therefore, the researcher proposes a social campaign with the theme "Embracing Your Beauty: A Journey of Self-love" to increase awareness of the importance of nurturing self-confidence and addressing feelings of insecurity among participants. The campaign is designed using the Design Thinking method, which includes the stages of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test, to create an effective solution for increasing participation and public perception of beauty classes.
