Abstract

Background: Labor and birth are physiological events and normal. Delivery is said to be normal if the process is full term (37-42 weeks) without any complications. Birth ball is a technique to help progress labor that can be used during the first stage of labour. Until now, not much is known and not familiar with birth balls, even though birth balls are very effective in speeding up the delivery process. The advantage of using this birth ball is that it increases blood flow to the uterus, placenta and baby, relieves pressure and can increase the output of the pelvis by as much as 30%, provides comfort for the knees and ankles, provides counter-pressure on the perineum and erect thighs. Objective: To determine the average duration of the first stage of labor in primigravidas using a birth ball and without using a birth ball and to determine the effect of a birthing ball on the duration of the first stage of labor in primigravidas Methodology: This study used a quasi-experimental method with a Randomized Two-Group, Posttest only design. Held at the Barokah Main Clinic in Bandung City. The time of the research was carried out from June to July 2021. The research sample was primigravida in the first stage of the birth of 30 respondents with data analysis using the Mann Whitney test and independent sample t-test. Results: Based on the results of the study using the Mann Whitney test and the independent t-test, the p value <0.05 was obtained. Conclusion: There is a difference in the average duration of the first stage of labor in primigravidas using a birth ball and without using a birth ball. It is expected that women in labor can know the function of the birth ball so that they can maximize the use of the birth ball in the delivery process.

Victims of violence often experience trauma that can have a prolonged effect as a result of the violence, so it is necessary to make an effort to overcome these problems. For this reason, a nurse needs to carry out effective therapeutic communication to overcome these problems. Violence can be carried out by someone verbally, directed at themselves, other people, and even the environment. At this time, violence has become commonplace in the public's ears. This affects the soul, namely the psychology of a victim who experiences this violence. Therapeutic communication from a nurse is essential because it can control a person's mental state so that a nurse can become a place of conversation for victims of violence. This research aims to determine the relationship between therapeutic communication for victims of violence so that nurses can control the patient's mental health. The literature review used in making this article was done through several databases, including Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Garuda. The review literature used is vulnerable to publication in 2018-2023. The result of these articles is that through therapeutic communication, psychologists were able to create a sense of security and trust, which facilitated the recovery process for the victims. Therapeutic communication has a vital role in helping adolescents who experience sexual violence overcome the traumatic impact. Therapeutic communication also can help to reduce signs and symptoms of violent behavior. Therapeutic communication can increase the victim's self-esteem and dignity so they can live a more vibrant life with more enthusiasm. Therapeutic communication also plays a vital role in the mental recovery process that occurs in victims of violence. With the implementation of therapeutic communication, we hope that patients or victims of violence will be able to fight their trauma and various mental disorders that they are currently suffering from. In this case, nurses have a role in implementing their ability to therapeutic communication to overcome mental disorders and trauma in patients with victims of violence.

Abstract

Developing babies require important bacteria from breast milk, which impact gut microbiota in adulthood and lifelong health. Breast milk also contains hundreds to thousands of different microbiomes. These microbiomes prevent infection, inflammation, organ growth, healthy microbial colonization, and aid immune maturation. The type of storage container material used influences bacterial colonization of breast milk. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of storage containers on breast milk probiotic microbiota. The type of research is a true experiment with a pretest and posttest control group design. The probiotic microbiota studied is Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB). The examination of the total colonization of lactic acid bacteria was carried out using the Quebec Colony Counter Unit. Data were analyzed by paired sampleT-test. The results showed that the average number of Lactic Acid Bacteria colonies stored in glass bottle is greater than the number of LAB colonies stored in plastic bag (95x106 CFU/ml vs 77x106 CFU/ml). However, statistical tests showed no significant difference between the number of BAL colonies of breast milk stored in plastic bags and breast milk stored in glass bottles.

Abstract

The World Health Organization 2021 estimates the prevalence of stunting worldwide at 22% or as many as 149.2 million. In Indonesia, the prevalence of stunting is 21.6%. Padang City in 2022 has a stunting incidence rate of 19.5%, Ikur Koto Health Center has the highest percentage of stunting toddlers at 16%. Exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate complementary foods (MP-ASI) can contribute to supporting the health of children under five who can help in stunting prevention. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the history of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary foods (MP-ASI) with the incidence of stunting in children under 24-59 months old in Koto Pulai Village, Ikur Koto Padang Health Center Working Area. This type of research is analytical with a cross sectional design. The population in this study was all mothers who had children under five 24-59 months in Koto Pulai Village, Ikur Koto Padang Health Center Working Area, totaling 40 children under five. The study sample amounted to 40 children under five 24-59 months with cluster ramdom sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a Chi-square test used for data analysis. The results of this study showed that 65.0% of children under 24-59 months old were stunted, 67.5% were not given exclusive breastfeeding and 62.5% were not given complementary milk. The results of statistical tests showed that there was no relationship between the history of exclusive breastfeeding p-value (0.480) and complementary foods (MP-ASI) p-value (0.864) with the incidence of stunting in children under five 24-59 months. The conclusion of this study, there are many factors that cause stunting in children under five, such as nutritional intake of toddlers, infectious diseases, food availability, socioeconomic factors, knowledge of maternal nutrition and others. It is expected for mothers to further increase full exclusive breastfeeding and provide complementary feeding appropriately.
