Abstract

The phenomenon of school dropout among children of oil palm farmers in Karaban Jaya Village, Subah Sub-district, Sambas District shows a complex problem that is not only related to economic aspects, but also influenced by social, psychological and infrastructure factors. This study aims to identify the factors that cause children of oil palm farmers to drop out of school and the impact on their social and psychological development. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results showed that low interest in learning, limited facilities for secondary education, poor road infrastructure, and the influence of an unfavorable social environment were the main causes. In addition, early symptoms such as inferiority towards outsiders, closed attitudes, low rationality, and laziness in developing themselves were found as strong indications towards the risk of dropping out of school. These findings underscore the importance of holistic interventions involving families, schools, communities and governments in preventing school dropout in palm oil producing villages. This research is expected to serve as a basis for the formulation of social and area-based education policies in order to guarantee children's right to equal and sustainable education.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of transitioning from traditional paper-based worksheets to spreadsheet-based instruction on students' Opportunity to Learn (OTL) in a Linear Algebra course. Conducted with 37 undergraduate mathematics education students, the research employed a qualitative exploratory approach to examine changes in student engagement, conceptual understanding, and pedagogical awareness. The intervention began with procedural paper-based tasks and gradually introduced spreadsheet environments designed to foster conceptual exploration and mathematical argumentation. Data were collected through observations, student artifacts, and interviews, and analyzed using content analysis and learning trajectory comparison. The findings reveal that spreadsheet-based instruction enhanced computational accuracy, facilitated independent exploration, and promoted metacognitive engagement. A comparison between the hypothetical learning trajectory (HLT) and actual learning pathway (ALT) showed that students exceeded expectations, demonstrating improved conceptual reasoning and reflective thinking. The study concludes that spreadsheet integration—when embedded in argumentation-based learning—serves as a transformative pedagogical tool, expanding instructional quality and deepening students’ opportunity to learn in higher mathematics education.

Abstract

The core objective of this study is to build a systematic evaluation framework to measure the success of blended learning in Indonesian universities. And at the same time, trying to offer a new model to measure the success factors of the implementation of blended learning by considering the perspectives of students and lecturers, which are ultimately expected to meet the needs of all stakeholders. The model developed in this research is the IPO logic model for combining 3 models, namely TRI, ACSR, and DeLone. In this study, researchers used quantitative data methods, with data collection techniques carried out by distributing questionnaires. Testing of 300 respondents, consisting of lecturers and students with Smart PLS 4.0, showed a degree of accuracy of the research measuring instrument used for the contents of the statement regarding the relationship between all factors measured. From the results of the second test, namely the reliability and validity test with Smart PLS 4.0 software on 300 data points, reliable and valid results were obtained. This study concludes that blended learning is an effective learning model in universities in Indonesia, with the success of implementation influenced by technological readiness, institutional support, and lecturer competence in managing online learning.

Abstract

Suicide is a psychological issue that affects individuals, but it also represents complicated societal dynamics and integration issues in contemporary society, which makes this research significant. This study's goal is to examine the phenomena of suicide from a sociological standpoint, drawing on Emile Durkheim's classical ideas as well as contemporary sociological theories including conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, and critical sociology. The methodology is qualitative library research using a variety of primary and secondary materials from national and international books and scientific journals. According to the study's findings, societal factors that greatly influence suicidal behavior include social stigma, structural inequity, inadequate social cohesion, and the pressures of consumerist culture and social media. In conclusion, a sociological perspective offers a more thorough comprehension of suicide as a social occurrence, indicating that preventative tactics ought to concentrate on societal structural and cultural shifts in addition to focusing on people.

Abstract

Economic barriers are one of the primary factors affecting access to and the quality of education in Indonesia. Income inequality leads to disparities in educational opportunities, with students from lower-income families facing significant limitations in accessing adequate educational services. This study aims to examine the relationship between economic factors and educational access in Indonesia through a literature review approach. The findings reveal that financial constraints impact school affordability, availability of learning facilities, and students’ motivation to pursue higher levels of education. Although the government allocates 20% of the national budget to education, its distribution and utilization remain uneven. Therefore, more inclusive policies are needed, such as expanding scholarship programs, reducing education costs, and improving educational infrastructure in underdeveloped regions. Collaboration among the government, communities, and the private sector is essential to ensure equitable and high-quality access to education. These efforts are expected to contribute to the development of a more competitive and globally capable human resource base.

Abstract

This article explores the multidimensional nature of the digital divide and critically examines how contemporary public policy frameworks address issues of digital inequality and social exclusion. Using a qualitative literature review approach, the study synthesizes scholarly works, international policy documents, and empirical research published within the last eight years to map current trends and challenges in digital inclusion. The analysis focuses on three interrelated dimensions of the digital divide: access to digital infrastructure, digital literacy and competencies, and active digital participation. While global internet access has expanded significantly, the literature reveals persistent disparities in skills acquisition, usage quality, and the ability to derive meaningful benefits from digital technologies particularly among rural populations, the elderly, women, and persons with disabilities. The study finds that although governments frequently employ inclusive rhetoric in their digital policies, implementation often lacks participatory planning, equitable funding, and accountability mechanisms. As a result, many inclusion programs fail to reach or empower those most at risk of digital marginalization. Drawing from best practices across various regions, the article highlights innovative policy approaches such as community-driven digital hubs, intersectional equity audits, and public-private partnerships for affordable access. The study concludes by advocating for a paradigm shift in digital policy—from a narrow focus on infrastructure provision to a holistic strategy emphasizing human-centered, adaptive, and justice-oriented digital ecosystems that promote true social inclusion in the digital era.
