Abstract

The National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) aims to achieve a poverty rate of 0% by 2045. However, the poverty rate in Indonesia has not demonstrated a significant decline, particularly in coastal areas such as East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The poverty rate among traditional fishermen in NTT remains disproportionately high compared to the region's abundant marine resources. Various stakeholders have implemented empowerment programs, but their sustainability and effectiveness are limited, primarily due to inadequate mentoring. In response, the Baitul Maal PLN Foundation (YBM PLN) initiated the Desa Cahaya program to empower the Tuna MSME Group "Selera Katong" in Oesapa Village, Kelapa Lima District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This study employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing a descriptive research design, with data collection conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The findings indicate that the assistance provided to the Tuna Fish MSME group "Selera Katong" is comprehensive, encompassing counseling and training activities related to the production process, as well as marketing support. The assistance aligns with the theoretical framework and stages of empowerment.

Abstract

Vocational education through Vocational High Schools (SMK) in Indonesia plays a strategic role in preparing a skilled workforce that is ready to compete in the industrial world. This research aims to analyze the need for the development of Interactive Learning Media (MPI) that is integrated with web-based job-ready soft skills for vocational school students. This type of research is a Mixed Methods research that aims to produce descriptive data that combines qualitative and quantitative. This research was carried out at SMKN 4 Buru, SMKN 7 Buru, SMK Nasional Makassar and SMK Telkom Makassar. The research sample consisted of 90 students who were selected in total sampling from 2nd grade students of SMKN 4 Buru, SMKN 7 Buru, Makassar National Vocational School and Telkom Makassar Vocational School. This study analyzes the need for soft skill development in vocational school students to face the world of work. The observation results showed that most students (93.5%) considered soft skills very important, especially Work Ethics (97%), Teamwork (93%), and Communication Skills (92%). Soft skill learning in vocational schools is still limited to theory and does not involve field practice and adequate evaluation. Learning technology is recognized to improve soft skills (89.2%), although a small percentage of students feel less effective (10.8%). Students prefer interactive and experiential learning (77%), but face barriers to accessing technology (26.4%). A web-based interactive learning model that integrates job-ready soft skills can address this gap by increasing student engagement, providing flexibility, and supporting collaboration with the industry.

Abstract

This study aims to normatively examine the ethics of the judicial profession in Indonesia as regulated in the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Judges' Conduct (KEPPH), and to analyze the implications of ethical violations on public perception of judicial institutions. Although KEPPH has established basic principles such as integrity, independence, and impartiality, practice in the field still shows many ethical violations by judges, including bribery, conflicts of interest, and inappropriate behavior. Through a legislative, conceptual, and case study approach, this study finds that ethical violations have a serious impact on the legitimacy of judicial institutions and reduce public trust. Negative public perception of the integrity of judges strengthens procedural injustice and weakens the principle of the rule of law. This study recommends strengthening supervision, institutional culture reform, and continuous ethical education as strategic steps to improve the integrity of the judicial profession and restore public trust.

Abstract

This Research explores the conditions of waste pickers (pemulung) face within the plastic waste supply chain under the circular economy framework in Yayasan Mahija Parahita Nusantara. The research focuses on understanding how waste pickers contribute to circular waste management and how structural poverty affects the waste pickers’ well-being. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach with in-depth interviews, observations and document study with purposely selected informants, including waste pickers, middlemen, and program managers. Findings reveal the community segment as the primary source of household waste; it still lacks consistent waste separation practices, limiting the quality of recyclable input. Waste pickers, in the second segment, face multiple vulnerabilities including lack of legal identity, unstable housing and low bargaining power. Another condition was waste pickers do not have direct access to industry due to limited volume and should pass the long chain through various chains from small traders, medium traders, large traders and industry. Despite their contribution, they remain marginalised, earning only IDR 2500-6500/kg depending on waste conditions. Middlemen dominate the third segment, setting the prices and often benefiting from informal loyalty systems with waste pickers, while gaining significantly higher margins by reselling to large buyers. And the last segment, industry receives to process the plastic but remains disconnected from the social realities of upstream actors. This study highlights the need for a more inclusive business that improves equity and economic justice across all supply chain segments, especially for waste pickers and other informal workers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of sustainable finance on non-profit organizations in West Java using a hybrid funding and social innovation approach. Sustainable finance, which involves the efficient and responsible management of resources, plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational sustainability of non-profit organizations. The hybrid funding approach, combining funds from various sources such as donations, social investments, and public sector financing, is expected to enhance the financial resilience of non-profits. Additionally, social innovation, as a key element in non-profit sustainability strategies, can strengthen the social impact generated. The research method employed is quantitative with a survey approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to managers of non-profit organizations in West Java that utilize a hybrid funding model. Data analysis was conducted using linear regression to measure the influence of sustainable finance variables on the performance of non-profit organizations, considering the role of social innovation as a moderating variable. The results of the study are expected to provide insights into the effectiveness of hybrid funding in creating financial and social sustainability for non-profit organizations, as well as highlight the importance of social innovation in supporting the achievement of broader social goals. These findings are also expected to offer recommendations for non-profit organizations in West Java in designing more effective and innovative sustainable financial strategies.
