Abstract

This study examines the empowerment of single mothers as family heads through a strength-based approach implemented by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with the SOS Children’s Village program. A strengths-based approach is a collaborative process between service recipients and providers to determine outcomes by identifying and mobilizing an individual's inherent resources and assets. This approach views the risks or problems that clients have as enablers rather than obstacles. The role of the professional is not only to reduce risk; it is also to support the individual in managing risk. As single-mother households face socioeconomic vulnerabilities and societal stigma, NGO-led interventions that emphasize resilience and existing capabilities—rather than deficits—are critical for sustainable family strengthening. Using qualitative data from SOS Children’s Village participants, this research highlights how the family strengthening program leverages single mothers’ inherent strengths to improve household stability, financial independence, and child well-being. The results of the study demonstrate that a strengths-based approach, incorporating activities such as network development, stakeholder collaboration, provision of support facilities and initial business capital, and regeneration, can enhance the capacity of assisted families, particularly those led by female heads of households, to comprehend and implement effective parenting strategies. This approach can also facilitate increased income, enhanced access to government service programs, and reduce dependency on institutional aid. The study underscores the role of NGOs in filling gaps left by public welfare systems and proposes a framework for scaling strength-based interventions in similar contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the efforts and challenges of social rehabilitation services for children through basic needs fulfillment programs in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia. A qualitative approach with a descriptive research design was employed to provide a detailed and contextual understanding of the phenomenon. A total of 14 informants were selected using purposive sampling based on Neuman (2014), consisting of policymakers, social rehabilitation practitioners (foster parents, social workers, psychologists), and service recipients (institutionalized children and care leavers). The findings reveal that social rehabilitation efforts include: (1) capacity-building services for children through physical guidance, psychosocial support, spiritual guidance, life skills training, and self-actualization support; (2) services to fulfill children's rights such as basic needs provision, accessibility services, caregiving, social advocacy, and family tracing; (3) pre-termination guidance including career development and support for higher education; (4) institutional strengthening through child protection policies, multidisciplinary approaches, human resource management, and institutional standards; and (5) termination processes such as family reunification and referrals to other care institutions. These efforts have successfully met the goals of social rehabilitation as outlined by Wallace (2023), enabling children to reintegrate and participate in education, employment, and social roles within their families and communities.

Abstract

Tessy Nursanty Podungge. NIM 711524024. "Quality of Narcotics Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Circulation Services (P4GN) at BNN Gorontalo Province in Drug Addict Rehabilitation Patients". Supervisor I Prof. Dr. Asna Aneta, M.Si., Supervisor II Dr. Drs. Rusli Isa, M.Si.The study aims to find out and analyze the quality of narcotics prevention, eradication, abuse, and illicit circulation (P4GN) services in BNN Gorontalo Province in drug addict rehabilitation patients. The research approach used is a qualitative method with descriptive research methods and research procedures carried out by observation and interviews with informants. The data analysis technique used was the interactive analysis of the Miles and Huberman models. The results of the study show that the quality of P4GN services at BNN Gorontalo Province for drug addict rehabilitation patients shows a fairly systematic and structured implementation, especially in the dimensions of medical, non-medical, and social rehabilitation services. Each stage of rehabilitation, from assessment, detoxification, stabilization, to re-entry and after care, is carried out with a multidisciplinary approach that prioritizes team coordination, family involvement, and community involvement. However, budget constraints and the suboptimal sustainability of post-rehabilitation economic empowerment programs are challenges that can affect patient recovery resilience. However, the existence of service practices based on empathy, responsiveness, and quality assurance through periodic evaluation and social support shows that BNN Gorontalo Province strives to maintain the quality of service professionally. This reflects that drug rehabilitation services in the institution have moved towards sustainable recovery and are oriented towards the social reintegration of former addicts in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Dependence on forests is a condition in which humans are highly dependent on forests to support their livelihoods. Forests provide various natural resources. This study aims to determine the extent of community dependence on limited production forests and Lore Lindu National Park, as well as the factors that influence it. The research sample consisted of 58 people in Kapiroe Village, selected using the simple random sampling (SRS) methodology. Data were analysed using the Likert scale method. The dependence of the community in Kapiroe Village shows that 34.29% of the community's income comes from activities and utilisation in the TNLL area, while 65.7% comes from the HPT area. This finding confirms that the community of Kapiroe Village is highly dependent on limited production forests as their main source of livelihood. This high level of dependence highlights the role of the area in supporting the local economy, far exceeding the contribution of conservation areas such as TNLL.

Abstract

Critical mathematical thinking is inevitable in becoming a concerned citizen and an active part of modern society. Such knowledge would improve understanding of the learning mathematics process and suggest better teaching methods, which is especially crucial for teaching civic knowledge. This research develops mathematics learning tools and investigates the effectiveness of implementing the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Learning (PMRI) approach based on civic mathematics in grade VII of Senior High School in the odd semester of 2024/2025. The learning tools in this study allow students to see issues in social contexts and relate them to mathematics. This study involved one participant teacher and 25 student participants. Action research and mixed methods were used in this research. This approach has allowed teachers and students to increase their activities in learning mathematics and improving students’ mathematics achievement. Before implementing the approach, students completed only nine students or 36%; in the first cycle, the student's achievement increased to 16 students or 64%; in the second cycle, 23 students, or 88%, had met the completeness. Also, by designing materials that link mathematics education with citizenship education, based on an interdisciplinary basis, this research provides a new important example of the transfer of mathematical roles. In this study, mathematics education is allocated to its role in efforts to build a democratic society.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics plays a crucial role in exploring Indonesia's rich cultural diversity, particularly concerning the Lopi Sandeq, a traditional boat of the Mandar Tribe in West Sulawesi. This research investigates the intuitive ethnomathematics employed in the construction of the Lopi Sandeq, a process that traditionally eschews formal mathematical calculations. The study aims to delve into how intuition, honed through generations of experience and acute visual perception, serves as the primary determinant for achieving the boat's renowned balance and precision. Utilizing a qualitative approach with an interpretive phenomenological design, the research gathered data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation from experienced Lopi Sandeq boat builders (passandeq) in West Sulawesi. The findings reveal that while basic measurements may be used as initial references, critical decisions regarding the boat's balance and symmetry are predominantly based on subjective, adaptive assessments, deeply internalized feelings, and visions developed over decades. This intuitive approach, which incorporates concepts like symmetry, proportion, and basic measurements, demonstrates that technical precision can be achieved through non-formal knowledge pathways. The study highlights that the construction of Lopi Sandeq reflects a unique integration of cultural values, such as the symbolic use of odd numbers and shapes resembling Arabic letters, and practical, empirically derived knowledge. This research enriches ethnomathematical perspectives by demonstrating diverse ways humans apply spatial and equilibrium principles within cultural contexts, underscoring the validity and effectiveness of non-formal knowledge. The intuitive wisdom embedded in Lopi Sandeq construction serves as tangible evidence of a rich cultural heritage, offering valuable lessons in adaptation, innovation, and human-environment harmony. It also provides a robust case study for teaching mathematical concepts in a meaningful and culturally relevant way

Abstract

Teaching materials that integrate Augmented Reality for developing teaching and learning based on local wisdom in secondary schools are highly important. Students gain access to learning about their local wisdom, supporting the implementation of the curriculum. However, the lack of teaching materials to support the implementation of this core curriculum becomes a major obstacle for teachers. The method of this research utilizes a descriptive qualitative research method with the implementation of the conceptual framework by Freeman (1998). Data collection techniques include observations, interviews, and questionnaires from 130 students. Teachers, art practitioners, and students in Toraja city, South Sulawesi Province, are the samples of this research. The research results show that; (1) Teaching materials are incomplete, such as videos being unavailable; (2) Artwork dimensions dominate the conceptual framework analysis, while in the four frames analysis, both subjectivity and structural aspects appear frequently ; (3) Questionnaires show an average of 3.00 in students' recent understanding of their cultural wisdom ; (4) This research provides six steps to create Augmented Reality. Implementing Augmented Reality is beneficial for both teachers and students. It provides learning opportunities that support the implementation of the curriculum based on local wisdom.
