Abstract

Pain is the most complex human experience and is a phenomenon that is influenced by interactions between emotions, behavior, cognitive and physiological sensory factors. Pain as a subjective sensory and unpleasant emotional experience is related to actual or potential tissue damage or is felt in events described by the term damage. The cause of pain is not only life-threatening diseases such as cancer, but also injuries, surgery, burns, infections and the effects of violence. A person also experiences pain from many of the procedures and investigations used by doctors and nurses to investigate and treat disease. Pain can be managed by pain management by taking deep breaths. Deep breathing relaxation techniques can reduce pain by relaxing muscle tension that supports pain. The relaxation technique consists of slow, rhythmic, abdominal breathing. The patient can close his eyes and breathe slowly and comfortably. The aim of this service is to provide knowledge and skills in managing pain for heart disease sufferers with clinical symptoms of pain immediately after the pain appears, which can be done by the patient or with the guidance of the family. The method used was counseling for patients and families with heart disease who were undergoing treatment at the Heart Care Unit at Raden Mattaher Hospital, Jambi, totaling 20 people. The results of the service activities showed that there were changes in respondents' knowledge regarding non-pharmacological pain management, and increased ability to perform deep breathing techniques for pain management.

Abstract

Background: One of the types of legumes that has the highest protein content is soybeans, the nutritional content of whole soybeans is around 35-40% the highest protein, and has a complete content of essential Amino Acids compared to other types of beans. So many products from soybeans are used by the community and even companies process them into soy milk, in addition to tofu, tempeh and other products. The increase in demand and public interest in the need for soy milk as a source of vegetable protein, especially for people who are allergic to certain types of protein or do not like types of animal milk, makes soy milk dregs abundant. The waste that is abundant from the manufacture of soy milk in general is simply thrown away by the community. Although some are processed into animal feed, oncom tempeh and others. However, in general, people who process soy milk do not know about the processing of soy milk dregs. Even though the dregs still contain nutrients such as fiber, protein, minerals, monosaccharides & oligosaccharides, although each has a different content, because basically the quality of the protein from soy milk itself is not inferior to the protein content from cow's milk. This dregs if processed properly, can be sold and will add to the family's economic income besides selling soy milk, as well as selling food processed from soy milk dregs. Method: The method of implementing this activity is carried out in several stages, the first stage is a survey, making an approach on the willingness of residents to take part in the activity, then providing counseling education and technical guidance, manufacturing practices, counting and weighing and packaging, as well as marketing trials. Results: Involvement of residents to make processed soy milk dregs products into food until they are ready to be marketed. Processing of soy milk dregs is very easy to do, the additional ingredients are easy to get, and it has a delicious, savory, crunchy taste, and of course has a fairly good nutritional content, so this product needs to be developed both in terms of more attractive packaging and cheap packaging prices

Abstract

Stroke is the second leading cause of death and disability worldwide. The elderly represent a vulnerable group at high risk for stroke. Raising awareness of early detection is a crucial strategy to reduce the incidence and impact of stroke. One effective early detection tool is the BE-FAST method (Balance, Eyes, Face, Arm, Speech, Time). This community service aimed to assess the characteristics of elderly participants and promote early stroke detection through BE-FAST education using the POAC approach (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling). A total of 79 elderly participants were included. Health screenings were conducted, including blood pressure measurements and BE-FAST assessments. Results showed that 55.7% of participants had hypertension, 67.1% had difficulty moving limbs on one side of the body, 36.7% experienced visual disturbances, and 32.9% showed signs of facial droop or numbness. The BE-FAST method was effective in detecting early stroke signs with a sensitivity of 92%.This initiative demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of using BE-FAST education in community settings to empower the elderly in recognizing early stroke symptoms and minimizing associated risks

Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The purpose of this Community Service activity is to improve healthy houses and healthy settlements in the prevention of TB disease in the Lempuing and Sawah Lebar Baru Health Center areas. Based on the analysis of the situation above, the problems in the working area of the Lempuing and Sawah Lebar Baru Health Centers can be identified as follows: the high number of TB cases in the working area of the Lempuing and Sawah Lebar Baru Health Centers, the low knowledge about residential sanitation, the dangers and health impacts caused, the low knowledge about the dangers of TB disease transmission, the low level of knowledge about PHBS. This method of community service activities uses the method of community empowerment and community participation with a family nursing approach through problem recognition, deciding to take care of, take care of it, modify the environment and utilize health facilities. Evaluation of activities and monitoring is carried out formatively and summatively through the instruments that have been prepared. The results of the Wilcoxon Ranked Test statistical test showed a p value of 0.000 (p value ≤ α = 0.05), meaning that there was an influence of knowledge and skills after community service.

Abstract

Early detection of growth and development disorders will provide an opportunity for earlier stimulation. Early detection of growth and development deviations needs to be done to detect early deviations in toddler growth and development, including following up on any complaints from parents about their child's growth and development problems. The absence of target data that must be detected causes low coverage of the SDIDTK program, because parents do not know that their children must be detected for growth and development. The existing system still cannot provide fast, precise and accurate early information on cases of growth and development disorders, so training is needed on accessibility of child growth and development examinations through the development of a website-based SDIDTK model. It is hoped that health cadres in Suranadi Village, Suranadi Health Center area, will be able to conduct early detection of child growth and development using the E-DDTKASIK web-based application. The Community Service Team coordinated with partners in implementing this community service, namely the Suranadi Health Center. The target of the activity is 45 cadres in the Suranadi Health Center work area, the first stage is a pretest then socialization of the delivery of child growth and development materials and e-DDTK ASIK, after that a demonstration of the use of e-DDTK ASIK and a redemonstration for the participants and ending with a posttest to evaluate the knowledge of the cadres. All socialization and demonstration program activities were carried out well and smoothly, the location was appropriate and the participants actively participated in the activities.

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant global public health concern that often remains asymptomatic in its early stages, emphasizing the need for proactive prevention and management strategies. This community service program, Together Against Hypertension, was conducted in Jambi City in collaboration with the Nursing Student Association of Universitas Jambi, aiming to enhance public awareness of hypertension and identify individuals at risk through targeted blood pressure screenings. The program employed a two-pronged approach: (1) educational sessions focused on the etiology, risk factors, complications, and prevention of hypertension, with an emphasis on lifestyle modifications; and (2) blood pressure screenings to detect undiagnosed hypertension or prehypertension cases within the community. Participants included diverse demographic groups, with nursing students acting as facilitators under professional supervision. The findings revealed that 35% of participants exhibited elevated blood pressure, with 20% previously unaware of their hypertensive status. Educational activities significantly improved participants' understanding of hypertension and its management, fostering greater adherence to regular monitoring and healthy behaviors. This initiative underscores the importance of community-based interventions in addressing hypertension and provides a scalable model for similar programs aimed at improving population health outcomes.
