Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve students' knowledge regarding microbial isolation methods for fungi and bacteria, which form an important basis in the fields of microbiology and pharmacy. The problem encountered was the limited knowledge of high school students about basic microbiology concepts, particularly microbial isolation techniques, as this material has not been taught in depth at the secondary education level. The proposed solution was an interactive counseling session consisting of a presentation on microbial isolation methods (streak plate, pour plate, spread plate, serial dilution, and surface sterilization), followed by a rewarded question and answer session and a post-test to measure the improvement in students' understanding. The activity was carried out for Grade X students of SMA Swasta Perguruan Advent 1 Medan, totaling 32 students. The post-test results showed an improvement in students' understanding of microbial isolation material, with the percentage of correct answers increasing from 35% before the activity to 82% after the counseling session, as illustrated in a comparison chart. This activity is expected to foster students' interest in microbiology and pharmacy from an early stage.

Abstract

The rapid development of the business and industrial sectors requires vocational high school graduates to possess not only technical competencies in office administration but also professional attitudes and excellent service skills. This community service activity aimed to improve students' competencies in preparing office administration documents and implementing excellent service ethics as preparation for entering the workforce. The activity was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Sinjai using training, demonstrations, simulations, and mentoring methods involving 35 students from the Office Management and Business Services Department. The implementation consisted of preliminary assessment, material presentation, practical exercises, simulations, evaluation, and reflection. The evaluation results indicated significant improvement in students' understanding and practical abilities. The average pre-test score increased from 61.20 to 86.45 in the post-test. Furthermore, students demonstrated improved competence in preparing official letters, meeting minutes, incoming and outgoing mail management, agenda books, disposition sheets, and professional communication during service simulations. The participants also showed greater confidence, discipline, teamwork, and customer-oriented attitudes. This program contributes to strengthening vocational competencies aligned with workplace demands while supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in vocational education.

Abstract

The Community Service Program implemented in the Assisted Village in Kalibaru Village, Cilincing District, is designed with two strategic objectives. First, this program aims to foster creativity, motivation, and innovation among fishermen in optimizing marine potential and resources, which is realized through training and mentoring in marine business development. Second, this program also seeks to increase fishermen's awareness of the surrounding environmental conditions, by holding training on domestic waste management to create a sustainable and sustainable environment. To achieve these two objectives, this program applies a series of integrated methodological approaches, including Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) which emphasizes active community participation, Entrepreneurship Capacity Building (ECB) to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit, Technology Transfer (TT) in the form of processing technology transfer, and the use of Information Technology (IT) to support information dissemination and marketing. All of these approaches are implemented through various forms of activities, such as counseling, practical training, and continuous intensive mentoring. The target of this program is the Kalibaru Fishermen's Group, which has 10 members, who were selected representatively to represent the fishing community in the Kalibaru area. The limited number of participants allowed for more intensive and targeted training and mentoring, and facilitated the individual evaluation and impact measurement of the program. Overall, the program yielded two main outcomes. First, there was a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills, particularly in fishery product processing through training in making fish nuggets as a value-added diversification product. Second, the participating fishermen demonstrated improved capabilities in domestic waste management, which directly contributed to a cleaner and more sustainable coastal environment. The program implementation was evaluated using partner satisfaction indicators, measured through the distribution of survey instruments to all participants. The evaluation results showed that 97.5% of participants expressed satisfaction with all aspects of the program, while the remaining 2.5% expressed some satisfaction. This very high level of satisfaction indicates that the Community Service Program has successfully met the expectations and needs of the target community and can therefore be recommended for development and replication in other coastal areas.

Abstract

The intensive use of social media among students needs to be directed toward productive, creative, and responsible activities. This community service program aimed to strengthen digital literacy and content production skills among senior and vocational high school students through digital content production training. The program was conducted on June 20, 2026, at Computer Laboratories 1 and 2, Campus 2 of Universitas Harapan Bangsa, Purwokerto, involving 22 students from senior and vocational high schools in the Purwokerto area. A participatory training approach was employed through lectures, demonstrations, guided practice, mentoring, and feedback. The materials covered the role of Content Creators, content ideation and planning, audio-video editing, and social media optimization. The program was evaluated descriptively through observations of participant engagement, completion of practical activities, responses to mentoring, and activity documentation. The results showed that all planned sessions were successfully implemented and participants were actively involved throughout the program. They were able to follow the stages of idea development, operate relevant devices and applications, perform basic audiovisual editing, and understand social media as a medium for communication, promotion, and self-development. The program also created a collaborative learning environment, encouraged participants to express their ideas confidently, and strengthened awareness of positive digital media use. Therefore, digital content production training provided meaningful benefits in developing more creative, adaptive, and productive students in the digital era.
