Abstract

The development of information technology requires vocational high school students to possess digital skills that align with industry needs. One of the essential competencies is the ability to use Microsoft Excel effectively and efficiently. However, many students still rely heavily on mouse-based operations, resulting in less efficient data processing. This community service program aimed to improve students’ understanding and skills in utilizing Microsoft Excel keyboard shortcuts to enhance data processing efficiency. The activity was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Banjarmasin and involved 15 participants. The implementation methods included lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, case studies, and evaluations using Likert-scale pre-tests and post-tests. The results indicated that the average participant score increased from 69.13 in the pre-test to 77.20 in the post-test, representing an improvement of 11.67%. These findings demonstrate that the training effectively enhanced students’ ability to utilize Microsoft Excel shortcuts and improved their readiness to meet technology-driven workplace demands.

This paper is a writing about Community Service (PKM) activities with PKM partners, namely Rumah Yatim and Pesantren Ruhama, which are facilitator and mediator institutions to share with orphans, orphans, poor and neglected children from various regions in pursuing a better future. PKM partner students who come from various regions sometimes find it very difficult to get clean/clear water sources. Abstract

The management of plastic waste, particularly Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) derived from used beverage bottles, poses a critical challenge in rural areas due to its bulky nature. This condition directly contributes to low logistical efficiency in waste transportation and sorting activities at community waste banks. This study aims to design, manufacture, and test the effectiveness of the Eco-Green Bottle Press as an appropriate technology (AT) solution to reduce the volume of plastic bottle waste directly at the source. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach integrated with a Descriptive-Applicative method, implemented through a socialization program and field trials. The device operates using a second-class lever mechanical system to multiply manual pressing force instantaneously without the use of electrical energy. Real-world implementation was conducted in Pasir Tanjung Village, Cikarang Pusat District, Bekasi Regency, involving community representatives from diverse physical backgrounds and age groups. Testing results demonstrated that the device is capable of reducing the dimensional volume of 600 ml plastic bottles by 70%–80%. Ergonomic and operability assessments confirmed that the device is highly safe, stable, and lightweight for independent use by housewives and adolescents alike. With a remarkably economical production cost ranging from IDR 150,000 to IDR 200,000 utilizing locally sourced material components, this innovation is feasible for mass replication to strengthen the circular economy value chain of rural waste banks.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the digital marketing capacity of MSME actors in Banyumas Regency through assistance in utilizing Artificial Intelligence for promotional content creation. The main problem faced by the partners was their limited ability to consistently prepare captions, product descriptions, content ideas, and posting calendars, although most of them had already used digital media such as WhatsApp Business, Instagram, TikTok, marketplaces, and Google Business Profile. This activity was carried out using a participatory-educational approach through several stages, namely preparation, training, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The participants consisted of 25 MSME actors from the culinary, fashion, handicraft, service, processed product, and trading sectors. The media used in this activity included training modules, AI prompt templates, product identity worksheets, content calendar templates, and a WhatsApp mentoring group. The results showed an improvement in participants’ understanding, as indicated by an increase in the average pre-test score from 51.4 to 84.0 in the post-test. All participants were able to create promotional captions, product descriptions, and content ideas with the assistance of AI. Furthermore, 88 percent of participants were able to develop a weekly content calendar, and 92 percent produced ready-to-upload promotional content. Follow-up mentoring also showed that some participants had begun publishing content on digital media and receiving customer responses. This activity demonstrates that the utilization of Artificial Intelligence can serve as a practical, simple, and applicable solution to help MSMEs improve the quality of their digital promotional content.

Abstract

Office administration plays a crucial role in ensuring effective and efficient government operations and the delivery of quality public services (Muniarty et al., 2022). In Indonesia, the ability to write official correspondence correctly is a fundamental competency for civil servants, particularly those working at the sub-district level, as they serve as the frontline of public administration (Aktifa et al., 2023). Well-written official letters reflect professionalism, support administrative efficiency, and strengthen public trust in government institutions. The Jayaloka Sub-district Office in Musi Rawas Regency is responsible for handling various administrative documents, including certificates, letters of introduction, decrees, and other official correspondence. Preliminary observations revealed that the office processes approximately 50–70 incoming and outgoing letters each week, indicating a high volume of administrative activities that require accurate and systematic correspondence management. Despite its importance, errors in official letter writing remain common in government institutions, including mistakes in formatting, language usage, and document selection (Syuhada et al., 2021). These issues may reduce institutional credibility, create misunderstandings, and even result in legal consequences (Tatema Telaumbanua et al., 2023). Therefore, improving official letter writing skills is essential to support good governance, enhance administrative professionalism, and provide transparent, accountable, and high-quality public services (Herlina, 2022)

Abstract

The domestic waste issue in South Tangerang City, reaching 1,000 tons daily, stems from low household sorting awareness. This Community Service (PKM) activity aimed to build family awareness in independently sorting and managing organic and non-organic waste. The target audience included students' parents, foundation administrators, and community leaders at the Muhammad Sholahuddin Educational Foundation, Rawa Buntu, Serpong. The implementation method utilized a participatory approach consisting of field preparation, partner coordination, interactive counseling (lectures and Q&A), and practical simulations. Educational materials focused on household waste management, Waste Bank systems, TPS-to-TPA flows, and the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principles. Participants were trained to convert non-organic waste into creative pots or ecobricks and to construct stacked-bucket composters using EM4 to process food waste into liquid and solid organic fertilizers. The results showed an increase in participants' conceptual knowledge and practical skills in identifying plastic recycling codes and managing domestic waste. Through this mentoring program, the local community is now capable of sorting waste directly from the source to achieve sustainable environmental preservation.
