Journal of Indonesian Public Health Service (JIPHS) is a scientific journal of the results of implementing Community Service activities. The Journal of Indonesian Public Health Service (JIPHS) is managed by the College of Health Science Husada Jombang. The scope of this journal is articles originating from the implementation of community service activities carried out in the health sector, especially nursing, public health, nutrition, midwifery, occupational safety, health promotion, and community empowerment in health. Journal of Indonesian Public Health Service (JIPHS) is published twice a year, namely May and October. Each publication consists of a minimum of 5 scientific articles.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a physiological process, but during pregnancy pregnant women need midwifery care to evaluate their health and pregnancy conditions. Midwifes a care provider who can strive to improve the mother's health during pregnancy. Prenatal yoga is able reduces the physical discomfort of pregnant women and can make the mother's mood and Nutrition is very influential on brain growth and development. Rapid brain growth occurs in 2 phases. The first phase is at 15-20 weeks of gestation and the second phase is 30 weeks to 18 months after the baby is born.. The aim of community service activities is to reduce discomfort during pregnancy and prepare the mother's body for a comfortable birth and preparation for good lactation. This service activity was carried out in the Polindes room, Waung Village, Baron District, Nganjuk Regency at 09.00-11.00 on 14 – 16 September 2023. Participants in the activity were 10 pregnant women in the third trimester. The activity began with a speech from the head of the Baron Community Health Center, followed by the practice of pregnancy yoga and education on balanced nutrition for pregnant women. As a result of this activity, pregnant women understood the importance of balanced nutrition during pregnancy and their bodies felt healthy. The importance of maintaining health through pregnancy yoga and balanced nutrition as an effort to maintain health and prepare for lactation.

Abstract

Currently, hypertension is still a major problem for the elderly because its prevalence is increasing. Roselle flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa) can be used as one of the main ingredients in making snacks (pudding) because roselle flowers have good nutritional content, including antioxidants. The implementation of this community service activity aims to provide education on the hypertension diet and the use of roselle flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa) as an alternative snack for hypertension sufferers. This activity was carried out on February 25, 2024 at Perumda Candimulyo, Jombang Regency. The target for carrying out activities is the elderly with a total of 23 people. A series of community service activities, including health and anthropometric examinations, hypertension diet education, education on making and distributing roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) pudding. The method for implementing this activity is health education using the group discussion method. The media used in delivering this activity is leaflets. Community service activities take place in an orderly and smooth manner. By carrying out this activity, it is hoped that the elderly can adopt a healthy eating pattern so they can control blood pressure while at home.

Abstract

The modern era like now is supported by increasingly sophisticated technology, everyone can access various information from various parts of the world easily. One of them is the desire to try new things that are prohibited based on their norms or values, but they are curious to know and try them. Most societies still have the paradigm that sex education is something vulgar and adolescents should learn from their environment. The views of society in general reveal that for the average parent, talking about sex and sexuality is a new understanding. The aim of carrying out this community service activity is to teach adolescents about the dangers of pregnancy outside of marriage among adolescents. This community service activity was carried out at the Mancar Village Hall, Peterongan District, Jombang Regency on November 11, 2023 by providing health education and guidance to adolescents regarding the dangers of out-of-wedlock pregnancy among adolescents. This activity was attended by 30 adolescents and accompanied by health cadres. The activity was carried out well. Based on the results of the evaluation carried out using a questionnaire, it was found that 9 adolescents had a good level of knowledge during the pretest and this increased to 14 adolescents during the posttest. By increasing understanding regarding the dangers of pregnancy outside of marriage, it is hoped that adolescents will be able to prevent themselves from becoming pregnant outside of marriage.

Abstract

Advances in science and technology as well as socio-economic improvements affect people's health and life expectancy, resulting in an increase in the number of elderly people. This increase in the number of elderly people affects various lives. This service activity aims to improve the quality of life, knowledge and abilities of the elderly in their old age. The activity was carried out on Sunday, January 14 2024 at Perumda RT 02 Candi Mulyo, Jombang. The targets for implementing this community service activity are the elderly who live in Perumda RT 02 Candi Mulyo, Jombang. There were 30 participants who took part in this activity. Activities run safely and smoothly. Participants looked enthusiastic in participating in the activity. After the activity takes place, the community service activity implementer carries out a final evaluation of the activity. The results of the final evaluation showed that all participants understood how to improve their quality of life, knowledge and ability to carry out physical activity training in the form of elderly exercise.

Abstract

Introduction to dental hygiene at an early age is very important. This is because dental health will be able to improve the overall quality of health of children. The aim of carrying out this community service activity was to train pre-school children in brushing their teeth properly and correctly, so that they are able to do it independently. This activity was carried out at An-Nur Kindergarten, Peterongan, Jombang with the target being all 150 students at An-Nur Kindergarten, Peterongan, Jombang. This community service activity was carried out on May 27, 2024. Preparations for this community service activity were carried out 2 weeks beforehand, starting from the process of preparing the activity to applying for permits and preparing the materials to be provided. As a form of final evaluation, the activity was attended by 150 students, where the students participated in the activity enthusiastically. The implementation of these community service activities ran on time and smoothly.

Abstract

Background: Bullying behavior causes serious negative impacts on the victim in the short and long term. Physical violence received by the victim caused by the perpetrator causes depression pressure and feelings of insecurity, resulting in victims not daring to go to school and socialize in the community to meet other people. The impact on the victim in the long term is that it causes the victim to experience emotional problems, low self-esteem, and difficulty socializing, which can cause feelings of suicide, of course, this reflects disturbed mental health. Objective: This service activity aims to increase understanding of the impact of bullying on adolescent mental health so that this negative behavior does not occur in adolescents. Method: This community service activity uses lecture and discussion methods which are carried out at Mrs. Mukhoyaroh's house in Pesantren village after the religious study event., on August 10, 2024. This activity of course begins with the preparation of materials, and location permission from the host and the head of the youth study group. Results: After providing education about the meaning of bullying, types, who are at risk of being bullied, the impact on mental health, and efforts to prevent bullying behavior Most teenage girls understand the impact of bullying on mental health, which can affect the psychological condition of teenagers in socializing with peers, teachers, and the community. the youth discussion session asked questions about what happens when bullying occurs, if it happens at school, immediately ask for help from the teacher and try to resist so that it doesn't happen again. Conclusion: This activity is very useful for teenagers in increasing knowledge that negative behavior such as bullying can have a bad impact on teenagers' mental health. Parents must provide emotional support to students or teenagers who are victims of bullying. Guidance and counseling program services are provided by the school. Must more intensively guide students or teenagers in preventing bullying.

Abstract

This article reports on a community service program conducted in Nglajur Hamlet, Tugusumberejo Village, Peterongan District, Jombang Regency, from April 29 to May 25, 2024. The program aimed to improve public health behavior by empowering a health-aware community. The initiative involved a series of activities, including health education on waste management, community service efforts, education on common health issues such as hypertension and stroke, health screenings, and providing home care for the elderly. Led by three lecturers and 23 students from the Bachelor of Nursing Science Study Program at the College of Health Sciences of Husada Jombang, the program successfully engaged the local community in each activity. The active participation of community members reflected the program's effectiveness in fostering collective responsibility and promoting sustainable health behaviors. The results underscore the importance of community empowerment in achieving long-term improvements in public health.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a global issue, affecting 178 million children under five years old. In Indonesia, the prevalence of stunting remains high, with 30.8% of toddlers affected. Objective: This community service aimed to increase knowledge about stunting prevention among pregnant women and mothers of toddlers. Method: The educational activities, including lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, were conducted with 20 participants in the Dukunyar Village, Dukun District, Gresik Regency. Results: The results significantly improved participants' knowledge about stunting prevention. Conclusion: This suggests that educational interventions are effective in raising awareness about stunting prevention among vulnerable groups.

Abstract

Background: Cancer is currently one of the leading causes of death worldwide. One of the most common cancers and with the highest incidence is breast cancer. There are still many PKK Mojosongo Jebres Surakarta mothers who are not aware of the importance of early breast examination. This Breast Self-Examination (BSE) has been proven to be culturally acceptable, religiously friendly, and inexpensive. BSE is one way of action to find early symptoms of breast cancer that can be detected by mothers themselves, does not require experts to find breast cancer early, and is part of prevention efforts. Objective: This community service is to improve BSE knowledge and skills through community empowerment which will have an impact on increasing awareness and efforts to prevent breast cancer in Mojosongo. Methods: This activity begins with a regional visit to find out the existing problems, and a meeting with the PKK Chairperson to coordinate the implementation, the sampling technique uses a total sampling of all PKK mothers totaling 50 people who are given education and practice on how to do self-examination at home. Results: Community service can improve the ability of PKK mothers to do BSE independently. Conclusion: SADARI Education and Training improves the ability of knowledge and skills independently and has a positive impact on maternal health. The Recommendations, need to encourage and follow up on education and training on SADARI examinations by adding periodic follow-up sessions, this is done so that knowledge and practice of SADARI continue to be implemented.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical period of transition marked by biological, psychological, and social changes. This community service program aimed to educate adolescents on reproductive health through sexuality education at the Youth Posyandu in Mancar Village, Jombang. Conducted on June 26, 2024, the program involved 15 adolescent participants. It addressed the lack of knowledge about reproductive health and sought to improve adolescents' understanding and attitudes toward their reproductive well-being. A series of activities, including seminars, discussions, and demonstrations, were held to provide comprehensive information on reproductive health. The results showed a significant increase in the participants' knowledge, with 100% of the adolescents demonstrating a good understanding of reproductive health by the end of the program. This initiative highlighted the importance of open access to reproductive health education for adolescents and encouraged parental involvement in discussing reproductive health topics. The program concluded successfully, with participants actively engaging in the learning process and demonstrating increased awareness of reproductive health issues.
