Abstract

The 1996 excavation of more than four hundred sixth-century Buddhist sculptures at Longxing-si, Qingzhou, Shandong, profoundly reshaped the study of Northern Dynasties art. A generation of research has illuminated their stylistic hybridity, yet tensions persist between morphological description, laboratory science, and socio-political interpretation. This article reevaluates the so-called “Qingzhou style” of the Northern Qi (550–577 CE) through an integrative approach that links form, materiality, and symbolic function. Based on a first-hand analysis of eighty-seven sculptures, supported by micro-Raman and X-ray fluorescence data, petrographic provenance studies, and donor inscriptional evidence, three key findings are presented. First, the distinctive Cao yi chushui (body-clinging) drapery was not a passive Gupta import nor a purely local innovation but the outcome of state-sponsored standardization that articulated Xianbei cultural legitimacy. Second, petrographic results reveal that most limestone was quarried from Cambrian outcrops within a 20-km radius, indicating tightly controlled networks of production and a sacred geography. Third, iconographic innovations—including robe-carved Huayan cosmograms, hybrid pleat structures, and Sogdian-inspired brocade motifs—mediated transregional vocabularies in ways that challenge linear models of Sinicization or Indianization. By contextualizing stylistic choices within devotional meaning, workshop economies, and imperial power, this article proposes a biocultural-materialist framework for interpreting Buddhist sculpture. The Qingzhou corpus thus emerges not merely as an artistic phenomenon but as cultural infrastructure embodying sixth-century religious piety, ethnic negotiation, and Eurasian artistic exchange.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mental health challenges faced by teachers teaching slow learners at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nurul Huda Bondowoso and identify effective strategies for addressing them. A qualitative case study approach was used, using in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of school policy documents. The results indicate that teachers face high levels of emotional distress and stress due to the demands of adapting teaching methods to students' individual needs. While the Madrasah provides emotional and psychological support through counseling services and stress management training, barriers to seeking psychological help remain, including stigma. Collaboration between teachers, parents, and specialists has been shown to improve teaching effectiveness and student well-being. Furthermore, the implementation of adaptive teaching methods plays a significant role in reducing teacher stress levels and increasing slow learner engagement and learning outcomes. In conclusion, holistic support encompassing emotional, social, and pedagogical aspects is necessary to maintain teacher mental health and improve the quality of inclusive education in Madrasahs.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the 21st century has required Islamic education to adapt to changing learning paradigms to remain relevant to the character of the modern generation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in Islamic Education learning at Nurul Jadid Junior High School, Probolinggo, as a new paradigm for contemporary Islamic education. The method used was a qualitative case study, involving teachers, students, and guardians through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, and validation using triangulation and member checking. The results show that digital PjBL is able to build a collaborative, reflective, and authentic work-oriented learning culture. Digital products such as da'wah videos, educational podcasts, and infographics on Islamic values serve as a means of integrating knowledge and religious practice. This model also improves digital literacy, creativity, and student responsibility, while strengthening character and spiritual awareness. Thus, digital PjBL has proven to be a strategic approach in realizing 21st-century Islamic education that is globally competitive without losing its religious identity.

Abstract

Religious moderation is an important implementation of the Islamic teachings of rahmatan lil'alamin, which prioritizes tolerance and balance, and rejects extreme attitudes in religious life. This concept positions Islam as a blessing for all nature and prioritizes social harmony in a pluralistic society. In the context of Islamic education, its role is very strategic in instilling the value of moderation through the development of an inclusive and dialogical curriculum and learning approach. This study examines the concept of religious moderation as a product of the Islamic teachings of rahmatan lil'alamin and the role of Islamic education in internalizing these values in students. Data were obtained through a literature review and analysis of the Islamic education curriculum. The findings indicate that Islamic education can shape the character of a moderate and tolerant young generation, while reducing the potential for radicalism and intolerance. Thus, religious moderation is not only a principle of Islamic teachings but also an important part of character development through Islamic education.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and increasingly stringent demands for transparency, Islamic educational institutions such as the Nurul Qur'an Foundation face challenges in realizing effective, accountable governance that is oriented towards improving the quality of education. These challenges include the integration of long-term strategic planning, performance measurement systems, and the application of good governance principles. This study aims to analyze in depth how the integration of the Strategic Plan (Renstra), the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), and Good Governance principles is applied in the governance of the Nurul Qur'an Foundation. The research approach used is a qualitative case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with foundation administrators, participatory observation of managerial processes, and a review of the 2021–2025 Renstra document. Data analysis was conducted thematically by highlighting the relationship between strategic vision, performance indicators, and accountability mechanisms. The results show that the integration of Renstra, BSC, and Good Governance creates a more adaptive and transparent governance system, and is able to improve the effectiveness of planning and institutional accountability. This integrative model also has the potential to be applied in other Islamic educational foundations to strengthen institutional competitiveness and organizational sustainability.

Abstract

The ontology of Islamic studies is a philosophical foundation that serves to explain the essence of Islam in its transcendental, humanitarian, cosmological, and socio-historical dimensions. This study uses a qualitative approach with a philosophical analysis of the latest literature from the past five years. The discussion focuses on the definition of the ontology of Islamic studies, its scope and object of study, the relationship between revelation and reason, and its relevance in the contemporary era. The results of the study indicate that the ontology of Islamic studies positions revelation as an absolute source of knowledge that synergizes with reason to present an integrative and contextual scientific paradigm. In the contemporary era, the ontology of Islamic studies is relevant in strengthening the identity of Islamic scholarship, building ethics in the development of science and technology, and providing solutions to problems in education, morality, and socio-religious matters. Thus, this study confirms that the ontology of Islamic studies is not only theoretical but also applicable in addressing global challenges.

Abstract

This study focuses on the philosophy of social science in the context of climate change with the aim of exploring the ontological transformation of human-nature relations at the local level. How do communities reconstruct their views of nature from an anthropocentric paradigm towards a more relational ecological consciousness that has implications for everyday social practices? The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach, through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation in Sumberjo Village, Ambulu District, Jember Regency, East Java. Data analysis was conducted thematically using the Miles and Huberman model to interpret community experiences related to climate change. The results of the study show a shift in the community's perspective, which no longer views nature solely as an object of exploitation, but as a partner in sustainable living. This is reflected in adaptive agricultural practices, spiritual interpretations of disasters, and social criticism of the unfair distribution of climate impacts. The implications of this research emphasize the need for social science philosophy to develop a new ontological framework that integrates local experiences, traditional knowledge, and modern epistemology to strengthen ecological justice and sustainable climate adaptation policies.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through the integration of Islamic Digital Ethics values at Pesantren Syamsul Jinan, Besuki, Situbondo. The research aims to describe how pesantren, as traditional Islamic educational institutions, adapt to the digital era without losing their spiritual and moral foundations. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with field research methods, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving kyai, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that Pesantren Syamsul Jinan has successfully implemented digital-based learning innovations such as the use of multimedia tools, Islamic digital applications, and online learning systems. However, these developments are always accompanied by the internalization of Islamic values such as honesty, responsibility, and digital ethics based on the principle of adab al-ma‘lumat (ethics of information). Teachers play a central role in guiding students to apply ethical principles in digital interactions and to use technology as a medium of da’wah and learning. The integration of Islamic Digital Ethics in the pesantren’s PAI learning process contributes significantly to the moral development of students, ensuring that technological advancement supports—rather than undermines—their Islamic character. Challenges such as limited digital facilities and variations in teachers’ technological skills still exist, but the institution continues to strengthen digital literacy and ethical awareness. This study concludes that Pesantren Syamsul Jinan represents a model of adaptive Islamic education, combining traditional pesantren values with modern technological competencies. The results of this research are expected to serve as a reference for other Islamic boarding schools in integrating digital transformation with Islamic ethics, forming a generation of students who are digitally literate, morally grounded, and spiritually intelligent.

Abstract

This research is situated within the backdrop of China's rapidly expanding higher education, where the quality of higher education has become a focal point. Historically, higher education quality evaluation has emphasized external factors such as teaching staff and facilities. However, with the evolution of research, there has been a shift towards focusing on students as the core. Learning engagement, as a key indicator of students' growth and higher education quality, has drawn significant attention. Given its low-to-medium level among most students, improving it has become an urgent matter. The study focuses explicitly on architecture students in vocational education, exploring the relationships among professional identity, learning motivation, and learning engagement. The research variables include personal factors, professional identity, learning motivation (subdivided into internal and external motivation), and learning engagement. The study uses students from Sichuan College of Architectural Technology and Zhejiang College of Construction as the sample, selected using random and stratified sampling methods. The research holds great significance. It aims to uncover the internal mechanisms of students' learning behaviors, offering theoretical and practical guidance for enhancing the quality of vocational education and promoting students' all-round development. Proposed hypotheses include the significant influence of personal factors, the positive impact of professional identity, and the significant influence of learning motivation on the learning engagement of architecture students. Although the research conclusion is not explicitly stated in the given text, the study aims to provide insights into improving architecture students' learning engagement in vocational education, thereby potentially enhancing the quality of vocational education in the architecture field.
