Abstract

Rapid social and cultural changes, particularly as a result of advances in information and communication technology, present various challenges for Islamic education. Islamic education must be able to adapt to multicultural dynamics without sacrificing the fundamental values of religious teachings. This study examines the challenges arising from the implementation of multicultural education in an Islamic context and the threat of radicalism that can disrupt social harmony. The research was conducted through a literature review that synthesized various current literature on multiculturalism, radicalism, and Islamic education. The results indicate that Islamic education plays a strategic role in instilling values of tolerance, moderation, and respect for cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity in pluralistic Indonesia. Furthermore, Islamic education serves as a primary bulwark in preventing radicalism through curriculum strengthening, teacher training, and family and community involvement. An inclusive and adaptive approach to the curriculum, along with cross-cultural and interfaith dialogue, are key to building a harmonious, peaceful, and just society. Deradicalization efforts through Islamic education need to be systematically and sustainably designed to foster a moderate and open generation.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology is driving the world of education to continuously adapt, including in the teaching of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Technology-based innovations such as Augmented Reality (AR) provide new opportunities to deliver more interactive, contextual, and engaging learning for students. Through AR integration, abstract religious concepts can be visualized in three dimensions, making them easier to understand and internalize. This study aims to analyze the potential, capabilities, and challenges of implementing AR in PAI learning as part of efforts to modernize Islamic education in the digital era. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach through a review of various journals, scientific articles, and relevant previous research results. The results show that the application of AR can increase student interest in learning, strengthen understanding of spiritual values, and create meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences. However, the implementation of this technology still faces several obstacles such as limited digital infrastructure, a lack of technological literacy among PAI teachers, and the unequal readiness of Islamic educational institutions to integrate technology into the curriculum. Therefore, teacher training, policy support, and the development of AR content that aligns with Islamic values are needed for optimal and ethical implementation.

Abstract

The study of the relationships and differences between science, philosophy, and religion is an attempt to understand the epistemological foundations that shape human civilization. Science relies on rationality and empirical observation in seeking objective truth, while philosophy serves as a critical reflection on the nature of knowledge, existence, and life values. Meanwhile, religion provides a transcendental dimension through revelation as a source of absolute truth that cannot be fully grasped by human reason. The relationship between the three is complementary; science explains natural and social phenomena, philosophy provides a rational and methodological basis, and religion guides the moral and spiritual direction of human life. However, differences arise in the sources of truth and the methods of attaining itscience relies on empiricism, philosophy on reason, and religion on revelation. This study concludes that the integration of the three can produce a complete and balanced worldview between the rational, ethical, and spiritual dimensions of humankind.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum  policy, initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, brings about major changes in the national education system by emphasizing the Pancasila-based student profile and learning autonomy. For Islamic educational institutions, this policy requires a managerial and pedagogical reorientation to remain aligned with Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the management of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum from an Islamic education perspective, specifically in interpreting the policy and implementing strategies at the educational unit level. Using a qualitative case study approach, data was obtained through document analysis, n-depth interviews, and participatory observation in several Islamic schools implementing the Independent Curriculum. The research results show that Islamic educational institutions adaptively interpret and implement the Independent Curriculum while maintaining their Islamic identity. The strategies implemented include; Integrating Islamic values into all subjects through a monotheistic epistemological approach, Strengthening the role of Islamic Religious Education and Character Education, and Developing Islamic-influenced projects, such as waqf-based social entrepreneurship. In conclusion, the management of the Independent Curriculum in Islamic educational institutions is adaptive, creative, and contextual, guided by an Islamic educational vision. The implication is that policymakers need to understand the characteristics of Islamic institutions, while educational administrators are required to have strategic capacity to manage change without losing their Islamic mission.
