Pre-test and Post-test were collected then analyzed the independent one way ANOVA by using SPSS V20. The mean of pre-test in experimental class was 55 and the mean of post-test in experimental class was 83 (83 >55). While, the mean of pre-test in control class was 45 and the mean of post-test in control class was 57 (45 >57). So, the mean of post-test in experimental group was higher than control group. Moreover, This can also be seen from the results of the hypothesis test, the One Way ANOVA test, which obtained a sig score of 0.023. In accordance with decision making in the One Way ANOVA test, namely if p < 0.005 then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The data collection techniques included a preliminary test and post-test, observation sheets, and interviews. Content validity was ensured by involving the English teacher, and the researcher administered two tests and determined the criteria of success. The minimum score set to achieve the criteria of success was 75, with at least 65% of students required to meet or exceed this score. The results showed that in cycle 2, students were still unable to pronounce words correctly and fluently, although their performance improved with different subject matter and treatment, reaching an average score of 73%. Therefore, it can be concluded that flashcard media can improve students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

There have been pervasive uses of technology and social media in the classrooms to improve the way English skills are taught. However, Indonesian students' proficiency in reading comprehension is still considered to be inadequate due to language barriers, the lack of motivation and the lack of visually engaging English texts. Therefore, the current study attempted to bring back a conventional way of teaching reading comprehension by integrating comic strips as an instructional media in the classroom. Employing Kemmis and McTaggart’s Classroom Action Research, it was found that the implementation of comic strips successfully improved the students’ low reading comprehension skill for 22 junior high school students.

Abstract

Self-confidence is an important part of speaking skills, as it can provide enthusiasm. If learners are high in confidence, they will achieve the best performance in speaking skills. Studies regarding the factors that influence students' self-confidence are still very limited. Some previous studies mostly discussed the correlation between self-confidence and speaking. Besides self-confidence, there are other factors that can affect students’ self-confidence, namely cognitive learning style. This research used quantitative research method and by applying correlational design. This research was found that, the product moment score were rcount1 = 0.631 (field Independent), rcount2 =  0.558 (field Dependent) and rtable score were rtable1 = 0.455, rtable2 = 0.349. So, the rcount1 and rcount2 is more than rtable1 and rtable2 (0.631> 0.455 and 0.558 > 0.349). Which indicated that there is a significant correlation between the seventh grade students’ self-confidence and their speaking skill in self introduction at MTs Darul Ulum Assurur across their cognitive learning style. It can be concluded that the field independent coefficient correlation is higher than the field dependent (rcount1 > rcount2 = 0.631 > 0.558) It means that if students' self-confidence is high then the students can speak fluently and it implicate that the teacher should design a teaching and learning process where the students learn independently. Key Words: Self-Confidence, Speaking, Field Independent, Field Dependent

The researcher chose a sample of class VIIB (23 students) as the Experimental class and class VIIA (28students) as the Control class. The data collected for this research was from scores of pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using the formula of Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) with IBM SPSS 27 version. Based on the sample result and hypothesis testing, the score calculated showed the Sig. 0.001 < 0.05, which was interpreted that Ha was accepted while Ho was rejected. The partial eta squared showed 0.222, which means that the mean score obtained by students in the experimental class was 22,2% higher than the control class.
