Abstract

The socialization of Sultan Muda Sumsel Super Apps for OPD administrators was conducted to improve the capacity of administrators in managing website-based application content, data, and service information. The activity responded to the need for coordinated digital governance in supporting the 100,000 Sultan Muda program and the development of young entrepreneurship services in South Sumatra. The method consisted of need identification, material preparation, socialization, direct practice, and evaluation through discussion and technical assistance. The results show that the activity strengthened administrators’ understanding of application objectives, content management procedures, data accuracy, and follow-up mechanisms for digital publication. Documentation of the activity also reflects active mentoring, practical simulation, and coordination among stakeholders. The implication of this activity is the importance of continuous capacity building for OPD administrators to ensure that public digital service platforms are informative, updated, and aligned with institutional objectives.

Abstract

Breastfeeding should ideally begin immediately after birth and be provided exclusively for the first six months of life. However, in 2022, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding among infants aged 0–6 months in Jayapura was only 21%, which remains far below the national target of 45%. Various factors contribute to this low coverage, including limited knowledge, lack of experience, insufficient support systems, and concerns among adolescent mothers that breastfeeding may interfere with their education or employment. This study aimed to explore the breastfeeding experiences of adolescent mothers in Wahno Village, Abepura Subdistrict. A qualitative research design was used, with structured interviews conducted using a questionnaire. The results indicated that the initiation of exclusive breastfeeding among adolescent mothers was generally positive. Participants reported mixed emotional experiences, including feelings of happiness, pride, stress, and discomfort. Family support, particularly from husbands, played an important role in sustaining breastfeeding practices. Most respondents also demonstrated adequate knowledge regarding how to manage breastfeeding-related challenges. Overall, adolescent mothers in Wahno Village showed a reasonable level of understanding and commitment toward exclusive breastfeeding. Continued education and support are recommended to further strengthen breastfeeding practices among adolescent mothers and their families.

Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) remains one of the most frequent bacterial complications during pregnancy and is closely associated with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes such as pyelonephritis, preterm labor, low birth weight, and neonatal sepsis. Inadequate personal hygiene of the reproductive organs is a modifiable determinant of UTI, yet knowledge among pregnant women in rural Indonesian communities is still limited. This community service activity aimed to improve pregnant women's knowledge of reproductive organ personal hygiene as a preventive strategy against UTI. The activity was conducted on 25 June 2026 at the Village Hall of Kota Tebing Tinggi, North Sumatra, and involved 32 pregnant women. The intervention combined lectures, leaflet distribution, demonstration, discussion, and hand-hygiene simulation, and used a validated pretest-posttest instrument to measure knowledge change. Results showed a substantial increase in good-level knowledge from 34.4% before the intervention to 90.6% afterwards, while the poor category decreased from 21.9% to 0%. Participant satisfaction was high (mean 92.5%). The activity demonstrates that structured hygiene education is effective and feasible for integration into routine antenatal services at the primary care level.

Abstract

Pregnancy and childbirth are physiological processes often accompanied by pain resulting from uterine contractions and fetal descent through the birth canal. Relaxation breathing technique is one complementary approach used to reduce labor pain. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of third-trimester pregnant women at STIKes Mitra Sejati regarding relaxation breathing techniques as a nonpharmacological method for reducing labor pain. The methods applied included interactive lectures, question-and-answer sessions, demonstration, and hands-on practice, evaluated through a pretest and posttest within a single activity cycle. The results showed an improvement in participants' knowledge, with the "good" category increasing from 30% to 85%, the "sufficient" category decreasing from 45% to 15%, and the "poor" category decreasing from 25% to 0%. Participants also demonstrated improved skills and confidence in independently practicing the relaxation breathing technique. This activity was concluded to be an effective promotive and preventive intervention in preparing pregnant women for a safer and more comfortable labor experience, and should therefore be continued through sustainable maternal health education programs.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a leading noncommunicable disease and a major contributor to cardiovascular morbidity among the working-age population. Construction workers face compounded risk from physical workload, heat exposure, and long working hours, yet structured on-site cardiovascular screening is rarely provided. This community service program aimed to improve construction workers' knowledge of hypertension, conduct blood pressure screening, and strengthen occupational health and safety (K3) culture on a building construction project. The program used a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design involving 21 male construction workers selected through total sampling at Universitas Bunda Thamrin building project, Medan. Activities included preparatory coordination, health education using leaflet, slide presentation and a 5-minute video, interactive discussion, blood pressure screening with a calibrated digital sphygmomanometer, individual counseling for workers with elevated readings, and post-test evaluation. Knowledge scores were analyzed using paired t-test, n-gain, and Cohen's d. Mean knowledge scores increased significantly from 61.5 (SD = 8.4) to 88.2 (SD = 6.1), with a mean difference of 26.7 points (p < 0.001; n-gain = 0.69, medium-high category; Cohen's d = 3.63, very large effect). Blood pressure screening identified 10 workers (47.6%) with normal readings, 5 (23.8%) with prehypertension, 4 (19.1%) with grade I hypertension, and 2 (9.5%) with grade II hypertension. The "Sehat Kerja" program was effective in improving workers' knowledge and identifying at-risk individuals early. Integration of this program with the enterprise Occupational Safety and Health Committee (P2K3) is recommended.

Abstract

Digital transformation of hospital services requires health workers who are competent in operating Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and management dashboards. However, preliminary observation at RSU Mitra Sejati Medan indicated that the utilization of EMR and management dashboards had not been optimal because of the limited digital literacy of health workers and administrative staff. This community service program aimed to improve the capacity of hospital human resources in operating EMR, interpreting management dashboards, and supporting data-driven decision making. The program was conducted from March to June 2026, involving 40 participants consisting of unit heads, installation heads, supervisors, medical record officers, nurses, and administrative staff. The methods used were interactive lectures, workshops, simulations, case studies, hands-on practice, and three months of mentoring. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test, post-test, practical observation, and satisfaction questionnaire. The results showed that the average knowledge score increased from 58.6 to 84.9 (44.9% improvement), 92.5% of participants were able to operate basic EMR features, 87.5% were able to interpret management dashboards, and the satisfaction level reached 93.4%. This program contributed to strengthening digital health literacy and hospital readiness for digital transformation.

Abstract

Baby massage is a beneficial form of stimulation that supports infant growth and development by increasing relaxation, blood circulation, and stimulating the nervous and digestive systems. However, many mothers still lack adequate knowledge and skills regarding proper infant massage techniques. This community service activity aims to improve mothers' knowledge and skills regarding infant massage as an effort to support infant growth and development. The activity was held at the Citra Clinic in Medan City, targeting mothers with babies aged 0–12 months. The methods used included health education, interactive discussions, demonstrations, and infant massage practice using a baby phantom. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests to measure participants' knowledge and skills during the activity. A total of 10 mothers participated in this activity. Participants were predominantly mothers aged 20–30 years (80%), had a high school education (70%), and were self-employed (70%). The evaluation results showed an increase in knowledge after the education. The lowest score increased from 53 to 80, the highest score from 73 to 93, and the average score from 63 to 87. Participants also demonstrated high enthusiasm during the discussion and practice sessions and were able to better practice infant massage techniques. These results indicate that education combined with demonstrations and hands-on practice effectively improves mothers' knowledge and skills in infant massage. This activity is expected to encourage mothers to independently practice infant massage at home as a form of stimulation to support optimal infant growth and development. Therefore, similar activities need to be implemented continuously as a promotive and preventive effort in healthcare facilities.

Abstract

Indonesian language learning at the junior high school level often faces challenges such as low student motivation, participation, and comprehension in reading, writing, and listening materials. The predominance of lecture-based methods and textbooks leads to suboptimal student engagement, especially in online or hybrid learning. This community service activity at SMP S Methodist 1 Rantau Prapat aims to enhance students’ understanding as well as teachers’ capacity through the application of interactive learning media. The media used include interactive PowerPoint, Wordwall, and H5P, which allow adaptive quizzes, writing exercises, and game-based activities. The implementation methods involve initial observation, development of interactive curriculum-based materials, socialization, teacher training, classroom implementation, and evaluation using pre-tests and post-tests. Data were collected through comprehension tests, classroom participation observations, and short interviews. The results showed a significant improvement: the students’ average post-test scores increased compared to the pre-test, with more active classroom participation in interactive quizzes and discussions. Teachers also felt more supported in delivering lessons and gained new skills in using digital media. In conclusion, the application of interactive media proved effective in improving the quality of Indonesian language learning and can serve as a sustainable model for secondary schools.
