Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a non-communicable disease that continues to increase and has become a major public health concern, including at the local level. Beyond its biomedical dimension, diabetes is also a health communication issue, as public understanding of the disease is shaped by media coverage. This study aims to examine how Diabetes Mellitus is constructed as a health threat in local media reporting in Bengkulu. The study employs a qualitative approach using Robert M. Entman’s framing analysis to analyze a single news article published by BETV. Data were analyzed through four framing elements: problem definition, causal interpretation, moral evaluation, and treatment recommendation. The findings indicate that Diabetes Mellitus is framed as an increasing health threat, particularly to younger generations, through the emphasis on numerical data and urgent language. The causes of diabetes are predominantly attributed to individual behaviors, such as excessive sugar consumption and unhealthy lifestyles, while structural factors receive limited attention. Moral judgments are implicitly conveyed by positioning individuals as primarily responsible for the disease, and proposed solutions focus on personal behavior change. This study highlights the role of local media in shaping health-related meanings and demonstrates the relevance of framing analysis in health communication research.

Abstract

Educational disparities in underdeveloped regions remain a persistent issue within the Indonesian education system. Limited educational facilities, the dominant role of teachers, and challenges in the implementation of educational digitalization are key factors affecting the quality of learning in these areas. This study aims to examine educational disparities in underdeveloped regions by analyzing limitations in educational facilities, the role of teachers, and the challenges of educational digitalization. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from academic journal articles, official government reports, documents from international organizations, and relevant online media published within the last five years. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that inadequate educational facilities remain a major barrier to effective learning in underdeveloped regions. Teachers play a critical role in sustaining educational processes; however, the heavy reliance on teachers reflects insufficient systemic support. Educational digitalization offers potential to reduce educational disparities, yet its implementation is constrained by limited technological infrastructure and uneven digital literacy. The study highlights the importance of integrated and context-sensitive policy approaches to address educational disparities in underdeveloped regions.

Abstract

The development of digital communication through social media has reshaped patterns of social interaction among young people, particularly university students. The high intensity of social media use not only influences communication practices but also generates social pressure that affects individuals’ emotional conditions and behaviors. One phenomenon that emerges as a result of this digital social pressure is Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). This study aims to analyze how digital communication creates social pressure and triggers FOMO among university students. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation involving students aged 18–25 who actively use social media. The findings indicate that repeated exposure to social media content forms digital social norms that encourage students to constantly engage in social activities. This social pressure strengthens social comparison processes and leads to feelings of anxiety, fear of being left out, and the tendency to force oneself to follow trends or social activities. FOMO not only affects emotional well-being but also influences students’ social behavior and consumption patterns. The study concludes that FOMO is a consequence of digital communication dynamics and social pressure on social media, highlighting the importance of digital literacy to foster healthier communication practices among students.

Abstract

City in the rehabilitation of street children in Bengkulu City. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The informants consisted of six individuals, including key informants and main informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis was based on Edy Suhardono’s role theory (2018), which includes five indicators: action, prescription, evaluation, description, and sanctions. The findings indicate that the role of the Social Affairs Office of Bengkulu City in rehabilitating street children has been adequately implemented. This is reflected in rehabilitation programs such as socialization, outreach activities, shelter services, guidance, and collaboration with relevant institutions. The guidelines applied are based on Bengkulu City Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2017. Program evaluation is conducted through community satisfaction surveys, field observations, and direct assessments. The description shows that most street children come from problematic family backgrounds, poverty, and school dropouts. Sanctions against child exploitation are implemented through preventive, rehabilitative, and repressive measures. Nevertheless, improvements in service quality and more participatory approaches are still needed to enhance the effectiveness of street children rehabilitation programs.

Abstract

The Hypertensive Heart Disease (HHD) is a chronic condition that arises from uncontrolled hypertension, resulting in myocardial damage and ventricular dysfunction that can increase the risk of cardiogenic shock. Pleural effusion occurs because of cardiac congestion and causes fluid buildup in the pleural cavity. In patients with this condition, unstable electrolyte levels are often found in the body. The combination of hypertensive heart disease, cardiogenic shock, pleural effusion, and electrolyte disturbances is a complex problem, requiring a multidisciplinary approach to prevent fatal complications such as multisystem failure and risk of death. This case report aims to describe nursing management in patients with hypertensive heart disease, cardiogenic shock, pleural effusion, and electrolyte disturbances, then relate it to scientific evidence through a literature review. The method used in this study was a case report. The subject of this case report was a 65-year-old woman with hypertensive heart disease, cardiogenic shock, pleural effusion, and electrolyte disturbances in the High Care Unit. Nursing management of patients with hypertensive heart disease, cardiogenic shock, pleural effusion, and electrolyte disturbances includes comprehensive assessment, collaborative intervention in the administration of inotropics, fluid management, oxygenation management, and collaboration in pleural puncture, as well as evaluation. Patients with hypertensive heart disease, cardiogenic shock, pleural effusion, and electrolyte disturbances present complex problems that can lead to death if not treated quickly and appropriately. Nurses play a major role in nursing management through assessment, problem identification, intervention, and periodic evaluation of hemodynamic status, fluid balance, and patient response to therapy.

Abstract

Airway disorders are common clinical issues among patients with chronic respiratory diseases such as pulmonary tuberculosis, often resulting in ineffective breathing patterns, decreased oxygen saturation, and persistent cough. Nurses play a critical role in airway management, not only through pharmacological therapy but also through non-pharmacological, education-based interventions. One potential method for improving respiratory function is the Wim Hof technique. This study employed a descriptive case study design using the 3M management approach (Man, Material, Method) and the POAC management functions (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling). The intervention consisted of Wim Hof breathing exercises administered to one pulmonary tuberculosis patient for three consecutive days at a frequency of twice daily. Parameters measured included respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, cough frequency, and sleep quality. Results demonstrated a reduction in respiratory rate from 27x/minute to 20x/minute, a decrease in cough frequency by up to 50%, and an improvement in oxygen saturation from 99% with 5 L/min supplemental oxygen to 97% on room air. Furthermore, the patient’s sleep quality improved, and family engagement in care increased significantly. The implementation of the Wim Hof technique yielded positive effects on respiratory function through enhanced alveolar ventilation, stabilization of oxygenation, and reduced work of breathing. The combined application of the 3M and POAC frameworks strengthened the effectiveness of the intervention by reinforcing the roles of nurses and family members. Wim Hof breathing therapy is effective as part of airway management interventions for nursing diagnoses of ineffective breathing pattern, ineffective airway clearance, and impaired gas exchange.

Abstract

International arbitration is one of the most widely used mechanisms for resolving cross-border business disputes due to its neutral, efficient, and legally certain nature. One of the fundamental characteristics of arbitration is the final and binding principle, which provides that arbitral awards are final and binding upon the parties and are not subject to ordinary legal remedies such as appeal or cassation as commonly found in court litigation. This principle constitutes a cornerstone of the effectiveness of international arbitration, as it ensures the prompt, definitive, and enforceable resolution of disputes across jurisdictions. Nevertheless, in practice, the implementation of the final and binding principle in Indonesia continues to face significant challenges, particularly at the stage of recognition and enforcement of international arbitral awards by national courts. The broad interpretation of the public policy exception and the tendency of judicial intervention often undermine the final and binding nature of arbitral awards, as reflected in several court decisions, including the case of Karaha Bodas Company L.L.C. v. Pertamina. This situation has resulted in tensions between the judicial authority of the state and Indonesia’s international obligations under the 1958 New York Convention. This research aims to analyze the legal regulation of the final and binding principle in the settlement of international business disputes through arbitration under Indonesian positive law, as well as to examine its practical implementation. The research adopts a normative legal research method employing statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. The legal materials used consist of primary, secondary, and tertiary sources, which are analyzed qualitatively. The findings of this study indicate that, normatively, the final and binding principle has been explicitly regulated under Law Number 30 of 1999 concerning Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution and is consistent with the provisions of the 1958 New York Convention. However, in practice, its application has not been entirely consistent due to differences in legal interpretation and the prevailing judicial legal culture. Therefore, a more restrictive interpretation of the public policy exception, enhanced judicial understanding of international arbitration, and a stronger commitment to international legal standards are required to ensure legal certainty and to support a favorable investment climate in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the persuasive communication strategies used by the Instagram account @Igitacy in promoting beauty products. The background of this research is based on the growing role of social media, particularly Instagram, as a promotional medium for cosmetic products that relies on personal closeness and influencer credibility. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with the account owner and audience, content observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, referring to Lasswell’s communication model. The results show that the account’s credibility is built through consistent posting, high-quality visuals, genuine product use, transparency of information, and intensive interaction with the audience. The message content is structured by introducing the product, explaining its benefits and ingredients, and inviting the audience to try it, using a casual yet informative communication style. The main channels used are Reels and Stories, considered effective for reaching the audience and fostering interaction. The primary target audience is women with similar skin concerns, although the content is designed to remain relevant to a diverse audience. The effects of persuasive communication are reflected in increased interaction, follower growth, and audience trust in the product recommendations provided. This study concludes that the success of @Igitacy’s persuasive communication is influenced by the combination of credibility, structured message design, appropriate channel selection, and the ability to understand the audience. These findings may serve as a reference for marketers and influencers in designing effective promotional strategies on social media.
